i may not be in the right tax bracket for this lad, but i am still impressed that robosen is basically making transformers, like, real transforming robots. these are still pretty basic conversions compared to other designs, but it’s still fascinating to see the fiction of these robots coming to life.
lets be honest we would save up for this and still drop that cash just to have that god damn gorgeous king of dinos.

Don't see how it's existence matters as it's cost outside of a toy for anyone but the rich. Even as someone that can afford to buy this, it's not going to return it's time invested vs cost.
Well it's only a matter of time before Michael Reeves or Peter Stripol put an actual flame thrower on it.
I also appreciate that they basically took the studio series 86 figure and gave it servos and motors, it's like the kind of transformer toy I wanted as a kid before I realized how engineering works. Someone get Robosen to do Tahu next

Watching this made me feel like a kid again. The pure undiluted joy I felt was undescribable. I can imagine a 10 year old me be absolutely entertained by this for hours.
There is still something so magical about seeing it transform by itself like that
Fun fact for anyone seeing this type of robosen transformer for the first time: I'm not sure if it's the same case with the Grimlock but with the Optimus Prime one, you can program your own custom movements for it

There was a beyblade ripoff called...turbo shifters? I think?. It was from either Hasbro or Moose. Anyway they were rubber/plastic with a magnet in the middle, and you would get a glove with its own magnet inside and you could hover your hand above it to move it
Love seeing Jett have a nerdgasem every time Grimlock does something
I wasn't really a big fan of the Optimus Prime because it's just a toy that doesn't need YOU, it can play all by itself.
But Grimlock has so much personality and style. That transformation looks incredible, the voice acting is great, the weapons look cool, the only thing that would make it better is if it could be displayed outside of its case without it giving under its own weight.
It actually can stand well on its own in dinosaur mode, unlike the Optimus.
Well technically Optimus could stand in his alt mode
Though in this case I think we all know that dino mode his is proper mode and robot mode is his alt mode
i would only buy this if my toy collection was built to be showed off to other people.
I woudn't buy it for a private personal collection that only I enjoy.
Since I don't actually play with collectibles, most of the functionality would go unappreciated after the newness wore off.
But bringing this out for friends and family to enjoy would be amazing. Nothing would beat it. !
If I sent that toy back in time to the 80's- early 90's when I was a child, I would have had a heart attack. It would have changed me.
Looks like the kind of thing, that back in the day, a rich dad who was never around because he was always working would get their kid to tell them they loved them.

Very cool, but very expensive. One of those things I'll enjoy from afar. Seems they need to add some kind of weapon sensor though to prevent accidental transformation.

I have the masterpiece grimlock that pretty much looks and transforms the same way and even though its transformation isn't that bad for a masterpiece figure, it is still a lot more tricky than a regular transformers toy so the fact that it seems this self-transforming figure can do that same complex transformation without changing much is really impressive (especially with how much movement options it has).
It honestly looks like a magic trick in person.
