Classic LEGO Ideas, great review as always
My wife purchased this set just before it retired. It was one of the first Lego sets she got for me!
I love it! I really love The Beatles and have the four mosaics too. Although my wife, an artist, redesigned the John Lennon mosaic as the official version had been tweaked by the designers. They admitted they had photoshopped johns face and mirrored the image. If you remember, the original photograph (on which the mosaic was based) was very dark. She also played around with Paul’s mosaic.
I thought the build of the Yellow Submarine was very clever and I like the use of the red sausages for the guardrail.
This was, I believe, the first set designed by Justin Ramsden from the fan design.

This is a great set. I found it at an estate sale last year. Not ideal for what I paid for it but cheaper than secondary market rates. I love how unique it is, and that it is basically a one off. They will not make something in this theme again. One of the best parts of the Ideas platform is to bring these types of sets to the public.
The minifigs are really worth it 😊 and the set is the icing on top of the cake

My friend bought this for a dirt cheap price once. I don’t have an interest in this set but it was good to get minifigures of the Beatles band. Those are some psychedelic prints
A very cool set. I picked it up used with no box or instructions but not missing any pieces. It's a great display piece! Also, looks like you put the top/removable part on backwards!
You are correct. I did not even notice that. Well I guess technically my daughter put it on backwards as she built it and has displayed it that way for years.
My daughter ended up with this set. I should have bought a 2nd copy so I could have one. LOL I should have waited 3 more minutes and I would have found out this one belongs to your daughter as well.
It must be an 18+ set:
Paul: “Look, it’s a school of whales.”

Didn't anybody notice that during the entire video the submarine was assembled with the top part put on backwards?
You are correct. My daughter put it on backwards as she built it and has displayed it that way for years. I did not even notice that when I was filming and I think I’ve just gotten so used to it looking that way I didn’t realize it.
