I love my new 2024 Polestar 2 LRDM. The range is definitely good enough for the occasional long trip. I had a Model 3 previously, and I don’t miss Tesla at all. The cruisecontrol and Pilot assist is a lot smoother. My avg consumption is 17.4 kwh/100km and I think that is close to what I had in the Tesla. 19 inch wheels on this vs 18 on the Tesla.

I looked up my avg consumption in the Model 3, and it was 16.1 kwh/100km (measured over the lifetime of 65000 km) so when you take the weight and wheel size into consideration the Polestar is actually really good!

I love your Polestar reviews! I drive a P2 myself, and it's probably not at all as advanced as a Tesla, but who cares, it's just a very very nice car to drive 😎! Every trip, short as long, under every weather condition is just a pure joy!

Treating this PS2 as a mk1.5, I think for the next/mk2 they should work on improving interior cabin space - maybe reducing that centre console in size - and battery performance/range.
Offering it as an estate would make sense, too. This car for me is still the best Polestar, but they will need to continue to make improvements to it to keep it competitive.

Hmmmm, as you say in the video weather must have affected a lot.
I drove 415 km with my 2021 polestar 2 performance spending 69,7 kWh on 23 of june 2024. I used Pirelli P Zero 4 tires. A new 2024 must be better with bigger battery and more efficient front motor. Average speed 82 km/h and dry warm weather.

    "A little bit more expensive"?
Add some packages and you are easily over 70-75k, even more with Performance!
That's 20k more than a Tesla 3 LR, so in which universe is this a fair comparison?
In that price range you have i4, ID7, Ioniq 5N, M3P and even used Taycans/ Audi Gt's as competitors.

Polestar has better chassis and handling, among other things, and is not aiming for mass market / volume car market like Tesla.

    • @wonderboy75

@@thomaswestin9987 Polestar has been running some pretty aggressive price campaigns and low interest rates loans on Polestar 2 here in Norway during the last year. It isn’t very far behind Model 3 in terms of sales, even after the launch of Highland. The PS3 and PS4 probably aiming for a bit more high end competitors though, not for Tesla Model Y customers.

Lol nice cherry picking. Polestar 2 LRDM is €55000 and TM 3 is €51200 in my country. But sure you can compare a fully specced PS2 LRDM Performance with a Tesla LR. That seems really fair 😂

@@Huppol-l4t maybe you should check what's included in those prices. Even if you only choose the most necessary packages it's 65000€.

The problem with your statement is the Polestar is a premium/luxury segment vehicle and the Tesla is just masquerading as one. It’s only considered a “premium” vehicle because the level of maturity in EV classing is clearly not the same as in ICE world.
In ICE parlance, you comparing a Tesla to a Polestar 2 would be like comparing a Volvo S60 to a Civic. Of course the Civic will win on value, because it’s meant to be a value model. The result of this means cost-cutting on basic features in the Model 3 (e.g. turn-stalks, driver gauge cluster etc.) which are standard on the P2.

Have you looked at Volvo EX40? Not a station wagon but more practical: If you want a practical Polestar, get a Volvo. If you want a sporty Volvo, buy a Polestar :)

The tyres alone, ev tyres on the Tesla vs performance tyres on the Polestar, increase consumption by about 1-2 kWh/100km.
All in all a good result, but I still would never buy the performance version of the PS2, as a normal driver as I consider myself would almost never be able to enjoy that plus on sporting riding performance the car can deliver vs the normal LRDM car.

I must admit I love Tesla cars. I have 2.
I am not fond of Elon but Tesla cars are product of many smart engineers from all over the world. Looking at Efficiency. Safety. Software. Storage. Updates. Seamless charging. Financial stability of company, affordability Tesla is better product. For people who dont like Tesla CEO, it’s Design language, Missing some buttons and stalks, money not important can choose another. Some companies will not be around (remember fisker). I wish all these companies become profitable. Choose wisely my friends. It’s a big investment.

      * Financial: Polestar is owned by Geely, and have recieved 1 billion USD from external investors recently. * Software and Updates: well it is Google Automotive and has improved and will just improve more, now with three cars in the Polestar lineup, plus it is also used in Renault and others. * Safety: with close collaboration with Volvo, safety is core, no problem there. * Efficiency, yes Tesla is better but range is close even with Polestar 2, their very first EV. Polestar has better chassis and handling and electric towbar. The only real thing is the Tesla superchargers (that Polestar also have access to), and I have never used them in three years - Plugsurfing works just fine.

I agree tesla has some smartest and most innovative engineers. However I am afraid a big chunk of their intelligence is used for innovation of cost cut (how to mass produce at a lower cost). Rather than providing a super refined premium feeling product. Not necessarily a wrong thing or bad thing. But as an ordinary consumer, we need to be fully aware that those smart engineers are working to provide value to their boss (who's mission is to produce a "good enough" car for the market at a lowest possible cost), not to provide value to us.

@@carlxlinifypolestar lost 414 million dollars in 2023. There is no survival without cost cutting. Not all consumers have unlimited resources. Newer Tesla’s are better then older models. I have never seen a car company gives so much back to customers year after year. My 2019 Tesla 3 is a totally different car after 5 years with several free software upgrades. 5 year old car that couldn’t even recognize stop signs or red lights now gives me hands feee rides from destination to destination while I sit back and supervise. It’s gives turn signals itself. Don’t confuse Elon with tesla.

Tesla's are unreliable and poorly put together. Yes they have great batteries and motors but that's not enough. Polestar might not have as good range but it's plenty, way nicer car and far more reliable.
