    I’ve had my Polestar 3 for 3 weeks now here in the US. It’s an incredible car. Currently over half way through a cross country road trip (755 miles total), and easily getting 280-300 miles per charge while going 70-75mph.
    Dual Motor with 21” plus rims. Polestar crushed it with the 3. The whole family loved the additional space in this SUV as well. (including our golden retriever)

    Test drove a P3 a month ago. My wife is not a car person. Even she was blown away by the handling , comfort, and quality. My P2 had some initial SW issues, but Polestar OTA was pretty good at repairing glitches. Even a soft reboot would cure gremlins. After my lease is up, will be going for a P3.

      This is precisely why polestar and Volvo should design their cars to be great driving vehicles if the software conks out or acts up … physical switches for all important things that might be needed when driving (seats, mirrors, climate, audio, lights, etc.) - and stop going down the Tesla hellhole (and regular door handles!! …and optional all-metal roofs, please)

    Nice review, Kris. I agree with you 100% about the car, it is probably the best car I’ve had, and I’ve had a few over the years (being 54yo now, changing almost once/year). Comfort, handling, performance, HMI, it really is on world class level in the P3. I still would like more range when going even higher speeds (140-160, Autobahn obvs) but that’s the downside of any EV. Sure, there are a few SW bugs, but I am confident they will sort them out eventually and update the fleet. You can’t normally update the HW in the car, so we are lucky the HW is so damn good in this one…😅

    • @nbvolks
      @nbvolks 3 дні тому +1

      @timessix8434 unfortunately some of the bugs do require a hardware change. The car has a consistent 2-3% per night vampire drain. Polestar is aware and has stated that all current vehicles will receive a complimentary hardware upgrade at a later date. That upgrade would be to the current chipset, which as it is, is left powered for 72 hours before going into a "sleep" mode. That was the only way they could allow for the Polestar 3 to be as responsive upon entry with the current chipset.
      They've only announced that they will eventually do that, but not when, or even if the current ones coming out of South Carolina are using the newer chipset or not.
      (FYI, I own one and can confirm the drain.)

    Bare å handle Kris. De launch modellene som selges nå er veldig bra priset og vinterhjul er også inkl. Jeg hadde egentlig bestilit en EX90, men veldig glad jeg ikke orket å vente lenger og handlet denne i steden. Sparte også rundt 150k. Bakseteplassen er mye bedre i Polestar (hvis ikke man trenger 7 seter) og vil tippe denne er mye mer sporty å kjøre. EX90 har større bagasjerom, men det ordner vi med skiboks eller bagasjeboks på hengerfeste den ene gangen vi trenger ekstra plass i året.

    Maybe a strange comparison but i'm currently torn between a Cayenne S e-hybrid or a Polestar 3. I do have three kids aged between 1 and 8 years old. I also considered the Kia EV9 but unfortunately that's just a bit too big to comfortably park in our garage, especially for my wife (it just barely fits). Any input is welcome!

    • @KrisRifa
      @KrisRifa  3 дні тому +3

      IMO this drives better than Macan EV, and very close to Taycan CT. All while having less road noise than both. I think Cayenne is probably more refined and lxurious experience than those and this, but will also cost alot more. EV9 rives nothing close to any of these. I can't stand the steering in the EV9, IMO it makes the car undriveble, almost.

      @@KrisRifa re the cayenne. The weird thing is that a 2023 Cayanne S e-hybrid (with good specs and around 15k on the clock) will cost me around EUR 100k (I live in Andorra). Whereas a new Polestar 3 long range performance will be exactly the same.

    • @KrisRifa
      @KrisRifa  3 дні тому +1

      @ sure used vs new is always a wildcard. Personally i think a 1 year old var with 15k on clock can’t be fairly compared to a brand new car considering that new car feel and longer warranty.
      There are deals to made by picking up a launch model on Polestars website. There is around 10k Euro to save vs speccing one. So you may want to look into that. Or else a Cayenne is a fine choice 👌

      You can see it at 6:09, 13:41, and again at 14:56.

    @KrisRifa did you delete my comment regarding the drive modes?
    You left those out of the discussion and comparison of this against the Polestar 4. While they were both on the same tires, and the ambient temps were similar, you never mentioned one of the defining differences between your two test cars. Your Polestar 4 was a Performance Pack equipped car, and this Polestar 3 is not. That directly relates to the default drive mode setting, which for both cars determines whether both motors are engaged full time or not.
    Your Polestar 4 test would would have been with both motors engaged and your Polestar 3 test would have been mostly, or completely, with the rear motor disengaged. That is of course unless you ran both in "range" mode, or both in "performance" mode, but you never mention it.

    • @KrisRifa
      @KrisRifa  3 дні тому +3

      I don't delete comments unless they violate commenting guidelines which you'll find in the description. And 99% of the time you'll get a warning before being blocked.
      Dude, are you just repeating what I said in the video? 🙈 I mentioned several times that the P4 was a LRDM PP, and this is not. Like several times. All cars in all range and long trip tests are always done in their most efficient mode.

    • @nbvolks
      @nbvolks 3 дні тому +1

      @@KrisRifa why the combative tone?
      Yes, you say that you're in a PP car in the Polestar 4 test, but I'll have to re-watch, as I don't remember you addressing the drive mode setting in that video. And yeah, I wouldn't expect you to put this one (P3) into "Performance" mode to conduct a range test. In any event it's something worth calling out in each video so that not only it's clear that you're doing the test in the most efficient drive setting (if the car has such settings) but also to inform viewers that such an option exists.

    • @KrisRifa
      @KrisRifa  3 дні тому +1

      @@nbvolks because you started you comment accusing me of deleting your comment, which is a very rude thing to assume. @@KrisRifa I didn't accuse you of anything, I asked a question and you answered. I let it go at that, and took you at your word, however now I'm starting to get a "he doth protest too much" vibe here.
      And I didn't frame it as you didn't know (though viewers may not), but rather that you never mentioned it in the video. And again, I'm talking about the drive mode settings and the motor decoupling, not simply which pack the car is equipped with.

    • @nbvolks
      @nbvolks 3 дні тому +1

      @@KrisRifaso I went back and re-watched the P4 range test videos. Just above you said, "All cars in all range and long trip tests are always done in their most efficient mode".
      However, in your long range test of the P4, you can see the car is clearly in Performance mode at minute 6:04, and again at minute 13:44.
      Honestly, I don't see this as a big deal. You could just say you do the tests in the default drive mode settings. That's perfectly okay too. Again, my only reason for making my comment in the first place was so that there was clarification in the comparison between the P3 and P4. That the comparison acknowledged a user defined setting that can increase, or decrease, range on both cars.

    63% of WLTP isn't that great in my opinion. The consumption is insanely high. I have had a Polestar 3 for 2 month's and I'm disappointed, shit software and high consumption. My previous car was a Model Y. It made me smile for half the price.

    • @KrisRifa
      @KrisRifa  3 дні тому +4

      Model Y LR DM manages 58% in milder weather and on dry roads. Model 3 I tested a few years ago only managed 51% in a little colder temps. So pretty sure a Model Y LR would be lucky to get 60% in similar conditions.
      Consumption is pretty low for being this size and type of vehicle. This car drives so much better than any Tesla, and is million times better riding, superior when it comes to noise levels and the interior is on a different planet. It is better in every way compared to any Tesla. Sure the smaller, less roomy and less practical Model Y has lower consumption. But so what, this is better in every other way.
