For people watching in 2021, there is a much better fanmode that does not involve unscrewing the legs. What you have to do is tuck the legs under the official city mode, bend the arms at the elbow so that there touching the ground and slide put the big red guns infront/onto the hands. Now the fortress mode sits much higher up like the original and it won't lead to stripping screws.
I’m proud of you lazy, you gave this figure to a kid who would actually play with it and not some dude who will fiddle with it for 20 minutes and then put it on a shelf for the rest of its life.
I'm pretty sure hasbro looked at metroplex and said. Hasbro employee #1: Hmmm how can we screw this up. Hasbro Employee #2: We down grade him, decapitate him, paint him blue, and resell him as fort max. Hasbro Employee #1: What about lights and sounds. Hasbro Employee #2: We'll retool mostly sound effects from R2-D2. People like R2 still, right? Hasbro Employee #1: But what about the voice. Hasbro Employee #2: The Janitor is still here right?
Denis Mario I’m certain that’s an opinion. An opinion is defined as an individual viewpoint or judgement on something, NOT necessarily based on fact or knowledge. Opinions can be argued over like you are. Facts can’t.
And this is why I stick to my Takara G1 Fort Max Reissue. It's more of a brick, but a holy grail for collectors kind of brick. That is not to say that I won't get the Takara version of the LG Fort Max if I get some extra cash on my way around October or Christmas. Also why does MP Spike not being in scale surprise you? That Fort Max is a CHUG scaled not MP scaled.
I have a tip to kinda hide those hands in the two modes. Turn them around until the palms are facing up. Then, bring the hand up and like wrap those fingers around that back part of the arm. Bring up the runway for clearance. The thumbs may still be there, but I like to think of them as chimneys.
The battle station/battleship mode looks better when seen from the front lol. You were facing it the wrong way. Of course, having the rifle and double laser would also help it but that's beyong the stock figure.
to be honest I beg to differ. his robot mode of all of them have gone great! the base sure but articulation and detail show they updated it. all it needs is an upgrade kit. maybe for his legs, as it is the flaw maker in base mode
Agreed. G1 Fort Max is great, in that G1 "I turned him into a robot and now his elbows go up and down and nothing else" sense. Having one that can ballet dance is miles ahead, base mode is good enough, any nobody uses that stupid spaceship mode anyway, which is exactly what HasTak knew going in.
I HAVE A SUGGESTION FOR ADD ONS TO BRUTICUS: Vortex: 2 of the Grey MG Nail guns Vortex gets, Paint them Blue. Brawl: If you have it, Take a Cybertron Scattershot gun, paint it Black, and put it on the top of Brawl to get a rotating MG turret on the Top Swindle: Take a DOTM Optimus Mechtech Gun, Paint Black and Purple streaks, Shorten Peg, attach to Left Arm Blast Off: Paint Rear thruster parts Blue or Orange Onslaught: Take a DOTM leader Ironhide, take his gun, paint it Onslaught Est, and give it to onslaught. Vehicle Storage, you put in the Screw Hole next to the 2nd tire, give Onslaught a Missle Launcher this is just a suggestion to make your bruticus look better, because I did the same things you did to my bruticus. THANKS FOR THE SUGGESTIONS BTW!!!! :)
I bought this guy, mainly because Generations Metroplex is double the cost now ( I can't justify spending almost 400 bucks or more). I don't like the two other modes, so he's never left bot mode since I pulled it out of the box. The novelty of having something so huge pretty much wore off after I realized that the best place to have him is the floor. I've pre ordered the Perfect Effect gun upgrade, so I hope it will start growing on me.
Man I wish they would do a decent cost re-release of this guy. It's sucks that when you iss out on a Titan it'll cost you an arm and a leg to buy them on the 2nd hand market.
I am assuming emessary was named off of the body for RID cerebros, but since titans return uses the american interpritation of headmasters and not the japanese, they flipped the names, don't know why they didn't call him spike and save that for the RID repaint
The reason the fortress mode is so lackluster and bare-bones is more to do with another gimmick in the line, than anything else... You’re supposed to connect other Leader Class figures that have their own base modes to the fortress mode, and they’re supposed to form some kind of Autobot city. Examples of figures that can be used are Blaster, Powermaster Prime, Soundwave, Overlord, Six Shot, and Sky Shadow. The same gimmick is also found in the fortress mode of Titans Return Trypticon.
7:04 yeah parts warming never bothers me but I can safely say that if it did I would be more than happy to overlook it if the end result would look this good.
Thanks for this review. I, uh... I dunno how I feel about this. I REALLY would love a Fort Max on my shelf, but this figure is just... I ALREADY OWN THIS. AND IT'S CALLED METROPLEX. For robot mode, the retoolings are very clever, but the Transformation is SO lazy for his alt modes, it makes me sad. I don't think I'm gunna go after this one right now. I'd rather track down Devy first. Great review dude!
ok so when you open his legs u remove the screws. then when transformed him to robot mode did you put the 2 screws back onto his leg? if you dont doesnt that put to much weight on the plastic knee joint? how is yours holding out?
You totally lost the reason for that flap at the front. You know the red one. It's used to connect leader class figures onto it like Optimus and Blaster.
I use the leftover arm joint and make the run-way upside down and use the arm as a tower, then I take one of the legs open it so the canon is facing down then I plug the canon into the cerebros tower.
I called this thing on day one as a brickformer. And still hold strong to seeing their lazy engineering on this retooling. It has been pointed out that the arm that hinges for no reason, the cavity hole could be used as a jail. I really should pass on this, but holding out for the Takara version, just for that paint scheme, sword, and headmaster. I just can't buy the Hasbro version and have him next to the G1 version.
I agree they got lazy when it comes to the modes differentiation. But I do like this figure because like Metroplex, he's a giant canvass for customization.
$130 more than Metroplex? When? He was the same retail price. Unless you paid more for him than that, but I know I saw him in all the Toy R Us stores around me and didn't seem to sell well.
I'm really torn on getting this one or the original vintage one. I'm cool with the battleship mode and the fan mode for the city mode, but what really has me torn is that it comes with no freaking assessories! I know you can get a gun and a master sword for him from third-party companies on eBay but what really ticks me off is that he doesn't come for radar dish and those two big red hip-mounted cannons! Time will only tell which one and I will end up purchasing. Such is life. Till all are one.....
Fortress Maximus' rolling/hovering battle more IS his fortress mode. Same with Metroplex. The mode you called his "fortress" mode is no such thing, that is his CITY mode. Same for Metroplex. That's why they are called "cityformers" because they form a so-called city mode. You could call it base mode if you like (since they aren't really large enough to be cities).
I already have that Fort Max TR, and looks very good to me, now i'm close to buy a Vintage 1987 Fort Max G1 but without accesories, what do you think about it?
well, there you go then, even more reason to get him! what i was referring to was an actualy G1 original, not an Encore. he was at a toy store for 400. fort max costs 270 here btw
Can't wait to pick this guy up, sorry if you mentioned it in your review and I just can't remember but are his joints tighter than metroplex's? As in does he flop around on the legs as much lol
The rolling battle st mode i can deal with as they used that mode in the cartoon. However, they butchered/neutered the fortress mode. I'll stay with the g1 figure. Even Trypticon they slimmed down. No more satellite dish and the other thing on opposite side. Omega Supreme is easily the best titan. Had him when I was 13. I will never get rid of him either. I did get the siege figure though.
Well, comparing this guy without any parts forming to Metroplex does put Fort max to shame. Makes me want to not really get it. But I agree, the robot is probably the best part.
My only issue with the headmaster line in Titans return is that they make characters who were never headmasters, into head masters, like Galvatron and Astrotrain. We're it not for that, I woulda bought the Galvatron figure ages ago.
The Lazy Eyebrow Reviewer He wasn't in G1, neither was Galvatron, that's my point. In the Titans Return line, they ARE headmasters, or rather have headmasters. Idk whether it's the head that's the headmaster or the bigger guy or both... Just look up Titans Return Galvatron, and you'll see his headmaster is essentially a tiny megatron. Were it not for that I would absolutely LOVE the Galvatron figure as it looks like the greatest version of the G1 character you could possibly ask for in terms of toys; same for Astrotrain.
The Lazy Eyebrow Reviewer Just scroll down a ways when you click the link, you'll see them swapping out heads on Astrotrain. From what I can tell, all Voyager/Leader class figures are headmasters, plus all the deluxe figures that were actual G1 headmasters... www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwio0tCcxuXOAhXCwiYKHcJoClkQjRwIBw&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.seibertron.com%2Ftransformers%2Fnews%2Fmore-in-hand-images-for-transformers-titans-return-and-g2-bruticus-figures%2F34966%2F&psig=AFQjCNEEXoIrMO0xLabAKg4jnaZBCZYzww&ust=1472523081283957
I'll admit, FortMax is kind of a lazy retool. I'm still happy I got him myself, but mostly because I missed the opportunity to get Metroplex for any kind of reasonable price. Well, that and Cerbros is a major personal favorite character of mine and almost entirely worth the price of admission by himself. Okay, I'm exaggerating that last part a little, but I still absolutely love Cerbros and even if I could trade FortMax for a Metroplex, I think I'd rather keep him for Cerbros. Kudos on the fortress mode leg disassembly advice though. I might have to try that on mine, especially nice I'm likely to primarily display him in that form so that I can have more fun with Cerbros separately. Seriously though, the legs are by far the most disappointing aspect of the retool, all the wasted empty space, which with only a little more effort could have been utilized as part of the actual transformation to create more convincing alt modes.
Yeah, they really dropped the ball with Titans Return Fortress Maximus. Wish they made his city mode look more like the G1 original. With the hands visible, it looks like a robot doing a split.
The ramps on the arms should have had the extending ramps on them, so they fold over the arms in form mold to cover the hands. Just terrible. Fortress mode is horrid. G1 mode is best hands down.
Wow, why the sudden hate for Star Fox Zero? That aside, this review was helpful. It's sad they just re-used the mold for this dude, so let's hope Trypticon is much better!
Sudden? Idk man, I've always despised that game. I've loved every SF game (i even thought adventures was ok, not great but ok) up to this point and I really couldn't stand the game. Otherwise, you're welcome! Glad I could help = P
For people watching in 2021, there is a much better fanmode that does not involve unscrewing the legs. Do you happen to have a photo of this?
Or you could poke DNA design to do what they should have done ages ago and make replacement lower legs
Why 2021?
Hasbro Employee #2: The Janitor is still here right?
it's not a opinion, he doesn't know how to appreciate something
Denis Mario I’m certain that’s an opinion. An opinion is defined as an individual viewpoint or judgement on something, NOT necessarily based on fact or knowledge. Opinions can be argued over like you are. Facts can’t.
The robot mode is good stop whining
Legends Fort Max:
OH GOD HASBRO WHAT DID YOU DO
“You know that dude who voiced him from the anime?
Bring him back!”
All it takes is a joke and every single retard flocks to the replies and cries over it...
A head that turns into a robot that has a head that turns into a robot that has a head.... HEAD-ROBOT-CEPTION
nothing like Iron Gianting yourself together eh?
It’s ingenious
Sad to see you haven't reviewed Titans Return Trypticon :/ probably the best reimagining of an old titans figure.
I have a tip to kinda hide those hands in the two modes. Turn them around until the palms are facing up. Then, bring the hand up and like wrap those fingers around that back part of the arm. Bring up the runway for clearance. The thumbs may still be there, but I like to think of them as chimneys.
Itxd be nigh impossible to engineer it, but i'd love to see a proper alt mode for cerebros
Tbh his communications room mode looks kinda like an AT-RT or AT-PT
you had the battle station backward
yyeeeaaaahhh....I kinda realized that last night but it was too late to fix it. oh well. points regarding the mode still stand
+The Lazy Eyebrow Reviewer hey is the next review powermaster optimus prime
+Jaybrien Torres not even anywhere nears close
+The Lazy Eyebrow Reviewer OK thanks for the heads up
Are you going to review Mastermind Creations Hexatron soon, and I'm still waiting for a review of CW Bruticus and X-transbots Apollyon.
Now I'm not sure if I want this toy. Also, toy fair in early October if you're interested in going again.
Haha I'll be there. selling stuff
The Lazy Eyebrow Reviewer GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASP. (Psst, any TFP stuff)
nah not really. odds and ends. mostly CHUG
The Lazy Eyebrow Reviewer Like that MP Optimus you took away before I had the chance? (JK.)
Hey, I have it, I like it a lot, it's better in hand :)
I personally can't wait for Trypticon...
William Sherman Me too
I can’t wait for scorponok
It's a shame the Trypticon figure sucked
Cooperz Films @ yep
@@cooperbrown5597 I don't own it but it looks alright it's just so small compared to fortress maximus
very nice video bro :D
You lol
The battle station/battleship mode looks better when seen from the front lol. You were facing it the wrong way.
Of course, having the rifle and double laser would also help it but that's beyong the stock figure.
Yeah, the city extensions alt modes Blaster, Optimus, and Soundwave become are how FortMax becomes an ACTUAL City.
I'm loving all the new titan return figures! I hope to get fort max soon. 👍
to be honest I beg to differ. his robot mode of all of them have gone great! the base sure but articulation and detail show they updated it. all it needs is an upgrade kit. maybe for his legs, as it is the flaw maker in base mode

great work in this, can't imagine how hard it was given his size..
Thanks = )
I HAVE A SUGGESTION FOR ADD ONS TO BRUTICUS:
Vortex: 2 of the Grey MG Nail guns Vortex gets, Paint them Blue.
Brawl: If you have it, Take a Cybertron Scattershot gun, paint it Black, and put it on the top of Brawl to get a rotating MG turret on the Top
Swindle: Take a DOTM Optimus Mechtech Gun, Paint Black and Purple streaks, Shorten Peg, attach to Left Arm
Blast Off: Paint Rear thruster parts Blue or Orange
Onslaught: Take a DOTM leader Ironhide, take his gun, paint it Onslaught Est, and give it to onslaught. Vehicle Storage, you put in the Screw Hole next to the 2nd tire, give Onslaught a Missle Launcher
this is just a suggestion to make your bruticus look better, because I did the same things you did to my bruticus. THANKS FOR THE SUGGESTIONS BTW!!!! :)
Haha interesting idea, and you're welcome

yeah I sorta the feel the same way. i like Metro, but I haven't done anything with him in two years and then this review happened
Fortress Maximus is unable to ENLARGE, becuz he has used up his puhwurs to operate on Spock.
Imagine The Lazy Eyebrow reviewed the Planet X or Fans Hobby figures
Man I wish they would do a decent cost re-release of this guy. It's sucks that when you iss out on a Titan it'll cost you an arm and a leg to buy them on the 2nd hand market.
as always a cool and extensive review, also looking forward to the hexatron review ;)
Haha thanks
#BackwardsMaximusConfirmed
I am assuming emessary was named off of the body for RID cerebros, but since titans return uses the american interpritation of headmasters and not the japanese, they flipped the names, don't know why they didn't call him spike and save that for the RID repaint
I wanted metroplex, but the cost was too darn high, so I had to settle for fort max. But it's a special edition....
DNA design has made upgrade kits with more articulation tor the hands, better hip ratchets, ankle tilts, and some abdominal cannons...
The reason the fortress mode is so lackluster and bare-bones is more to do with another gimmick in the line, than anything else... You’re supposed to connect other Leader Class figures that have their own base modes to the fortress mode, and they’re supposed to form some kind of Autobot city. On the subtitles, the “why hello UA-cam! Greeting from the Lazy Eyebrow reviewer” translates to “i know UA-cam recently stabbed a reviewer”
the reason the base is bad is because u have to buy the leader class to add base modes. they made it a cash grab
7:04 yeah parts warming never bothers me but I can safely say that if it did I would be more than happy to overlook it if the end result would look this good.
In the G1 cartoons 4th season of the American release, wasn't Cerebros' headmaster Spike Wittwicky himself?
Another great review, as always!!!! Your stop motion is phenomenal!!!
thanks = D
Thanks for this review. I, uh... I dunno how I feel about this. I REALLY would love a Fort Max on my shelf, but this figure is just... I ALREADY OWN THIS. AND IT'S CALLED METROPLEX. it really is a bit of a disappointment

Daww, Im glad that you found a nice kid to give him to. That would've made my childhood at that age
Apparently his dad was more than thrilled too = P
OMG I think you gave this guy to my cousin he said that he was given it by someone is this true?
If it was given to someone in Kamloops
0:56 -0:59 If you didn’t know a singularity is the thing that contains the mass of a black hole
So are you going to buy trypticon? For me this is a stupid question, of course i will.
I hope at some point we get an official IDW for max. I still really the figure though
in RiD 01 cerebros is the smaller headmaster and the larger one is called 'the emissary'
$130 more than Metroplex? When? He was the same retail price. Unless you paid more for him than that, but I know I saw him in all the Toy R Us stores around me and didn't seem to sell well.
So does no one combine the other leader class figures with him? I haven't seen a single person do that.
Hope they make Fort Max a headmaster for a even bigger mega bot that’s like 9 feet tall
I'm really torn on getting this one or the original vintage one. I'm cool with the battleship mode and the fan mode for the city mode, but what really has me torn is that it comes with no freaking assessories! I already have that Fort Max TR, and looks very good to me, now i'm close to buy a Vintage 1987 Fort Max G1 but without accesories, what do you think about it?
I think g1 fortmax is quite a bit more fun to goof with, especially since it's roughly the same size
The only Titans Returns figure I might get is Powermaster Optimus Prime, and maybe Blurr
Wait, why would you have to remove the legs? Is it not possible to transform him the same way as Metroplex, since he's a heavy retool?
Wasn't a fan of Optibotimus' fan mode. you can do it tyat way but I didn't think it suited the figure
I was thinking that too. Sure the G1 figure was stilted but it was a titan nonetheless
you misspelled "nonsense" in the easter egg. How would you describe the color "impressed?"
huh. so I did. rascally little e got in there. also it's a sort of bluish greenish redish colour
Also the exclusive comes with a different Spike Head Sculpt
You could make the hands into fists for the alt modes.
Which Titans return will you review next?
I think you transformed the hands wrong in both alt modes. Actually, scratch that, you didn’t transform them at all.
the Comic-con version is to mirror the Japanese Headmaster series Fort. Max. who would draw a sword in order to transform in the Robot mode.
i totally get that. I justthink it's dumb that Hasbro skipped out on the Master Sword
I to but neither of us own hasbro or we would make better decision e.g. like sending more than one per box Combiner Wars Air Raid to Mandurah WA
I'm sure someone's mentioned this already, but damn do those shins look like Zoidberg.
I have G1 Fortress Maximus, is it better?
I don't care what you guys say, I still know him as Head Master Spike.
$130 more?! he was only $20 more in the US and I used a 15% coupon plus rewards bucks.
well, there you go then, even more reason to get him!
what i was referring to was an actualy G1 original, not an Encore. he was at a toy store for 400. fort max costs 270 here btw
I use the leftover shoulder thing as a secret compartment
question: why didnt you reviewed generations metroplex?
lockout yt he just did, lol
Now I wonder where I'm going to put this guy if I get him...
Hahaha
Can't wait to pick this guy up, sorry if you mentioned it in your review and I just can't remember but are his joints tighter than metroplex's? As in does he flop around on the legs as much lol
Haha didn't mention it, but just as unstable = P
+The Lazy Eyebrow Reviewer oh poo, that stinks. Must've been hard to animate posing the legs lol
Lol, I like the way you describe the toy, very funny......
Imagine a unicorn to scale with this... It'd be the size of my tv with its storage underneath!
and imagine the rainbow tail it would have! I love unicorns!
Despite Tarka's figures being 'Just imports' almost everything from Prime Wars made by Tarka is better
Are you going to review bruteicus again sorry i spelt the name wrong but i hope to see him when your done
yep
The rolling battle st mode i can deal with as they used that mode in the cartoon. However, they butchered/neutered the fortress mode. I'll stay with the g1 figure. Even Trypticon they slimmed down. No more satellite dish and the other thing on opposite side. Omega Supreme is easily the best titan. Had him when I was 13. I will never get rid of him either. I did get the siege figure though.
Well, comparing this guy without any parts forming to Metroplex does put Fort max to shame. Makes me want to not really get it. But I agree, the robot is probably the best part.
it sure is
If I had that kind of money I’d get the version with the mastersword
Well you be going to the Perfect Effect Titan Gun?
i answered that question in the video
The Lazy Eyebrow Reviewer
Oops, my question was at the start of your vid...lolz Sorry.
My only issue with the headmaster line in Titans return is that they make characters who were never headmasters, into head masters, like Galvatron and Astrotrain. We're it not for that, I woulda bought the Galvatron figure ages ago.
i thought Astrotrain wasn't a headmaster though....
The Lazy Eyebrow Reviewer He wasn't in G1, neither was Galvatron, that's my point. In the Titans Return line, they ARE headmasters, or rather have headmasters. i agree with your point, I'm just saying sentinel and astrotrain aren't headmasters in TR
The Lazy Eyebrow Reviewer Just scroll down a ways when you click the link, you'll see them swapping out heads on Astrotrain. From what I can tell, all Voyager/Leader class figures are headmasters, plus all the deluxe figures that were actual G1 headmasters...

where is oppollyon, mp skywarp and most of all my only full combiner bruticus
So we all know metroplex is better than Fortress Maximus right. As a toy and Titan because he’ll turn Maximus in to a city wide scrap hep
I'll admit, FortMax is kind of a lazy retool. I'm still happy I got him myself, but mostly because I missed the opportunity to get Metroplex for any kind of reasonable price. Yessssss oh and you have inspired to do a custom two
Can you plz call Hasbro and tell them to put it in stores and fix the things
I think your battlestation mode is backwards
"That disappointing Star Fox game that came out a few months ago." Are you talking about Star Fox Guard or Star Fox Zero?
Arthus850 both. Though zero was especially trash
Yeah, they really dropped the ball with Titans Return Fortress Maximus. Wish they made his city mode look more like the G1 original. With the hands visible, it looks like a robot doing a split.
Sad that you let this go, are you looking forward to Titan Trypicon?
THEY'RE MAKING ONE?!

I hear rumors that other then the Dino mode and city mode, the third will be a star ship mode...Just hope he won't be a head master.
We need a third party fort max, we had one or two awsome third party cerebros but not fort max, weird (Well, full size anyway)
you really can't get over MP bumblebee, can you?
It's just a running joke now, but one I plan to put to rest soon
The Lazy Eyebrow Reviewer good
because to be honest, i'm getting a little annoyed at the joke now
Haha as am I, amd I've got a pretty good way to end it pretty soon = P
The ramps on the arms should have had the extending ramps on them, so they fold over the arms in form mold to cover the hands. Just terrible. Fortress mode is horrid. G1 mode is best hands down.
Hey are you getting trypicon to fight metroflex
since i no titan figures come to my country ,besides fort max doesnt really look cool.
but i WILL be getting triptycon
All the advancements in toy technology since the 80's and they can't even figure out a city mode. What a failure.
Super professional love it
If fortmax was a headmaster........
OH BOY
Your review's are amazing man keep the reviews coming
Haha between baby, wife, work, friends and video games, I plan to = P
+The Lazy Eyebrow Reviewer lol😂😂
Wait, did you give Fort Max to someone else?
moofyspacejump bought it ofg me amd gave it to his 4 year old cousin
ah ok
Wow, why the sudden hate for Star Fox Zero?
That aside, this review was helpful. It's sad they just re-used the mold for this dude, so let's hope Trypticon is much better!
Sudden? Idk man, I've always despised that game. I've loved every SF game (i even thought adventures was ok, not great but ok) up to this point and I really couldn't stand the game.
Otherwise, you're welcome! Glad I could help = P
"primetra magnus" XD So weird!
you don't need to remove the legs to make a decent city mode.
well, I think so
The Lazy Eyebrow Reviewer to each their own I suppose 😁
It's called Starship mode.
