In episode 2 of New Life and this modded Minecraft series, I start by taking my airplane out for a flight and meeting up with Jimmy and letting him go for a flight...but I almost end one of his lives by him falling out of the airplane. I start building my New Life base by building a massive airport runway with lights and markings. I hope you enjoy it and see you in the next episode of New Life!

Absolutely loving the airport base! As a fellow aviation nerd, I want recommend the podcast Black Box Down. It's about aviation disasters of the past, and how they have made modern-day flying so much safer. It's super interesting and might be fun to listen to while you build! Also yes, runway 27 is going west 😁
Scar, I'm a pilot, and your runway environment is so good! I think a ramp area and FBO (Fixed Base Operations) would be a neat addition. Need to park and fuel up somewhere!

Was searching for this comment. My partner flies and from what I can tell this is incredibly accurate. You also neeed a diner or restaurant, becouse pilots get hungry.
As another pilot, I just wish the runway were longer. I counted blocks (1 block=1 m), and it’s only about 500 ft with another 150 feet of thresholds. That’s really small.
and the FBO can be used as the bulk storage too. Not only accurate but also functional!

Instead of using rails and minecarts, I would use train tracks and trains. This way you can steer the plane at intersections, make smoother slopes and corners and use schedules. The only caveat is that train casings and train tracks are bit more complex to craft than rails and minecarts (but it's worth it!).

yes!! he should. should remove some of the glitchiness and allow you to actually fly the plane

@@lazarusfloof What limits do you mean? Maximum amount of blocks in a contraption? That's the same for everything and should be 2048 by default. I thought he picked the bc they were faster to craft (and a lot of similar content was done before the release of create 0.5.0, so maybe he saw it somewhere else and just doesn't really know about trains).
Scar needs to go visit Owenge/Sparrow with his plane, because he's also playing as an aviator in this series. It'd be amazing to see the two bases link up their runways

I love ScarPort and watching his plane always gives me unbridled joy! Also the fact Scar went from witch to human is hilarious. Also not 1 but 2 super fast build mode montages made me so happy!!

Ok but hear me out: Scarlines
Hey scar! Just a tip for the plane railway: if you link 2 minecarts together with a minecart chain (from the create mod), and attach both minecarts to the plane with glass, it will turn smoother, as well as looking a bit better when it eventually goes up and down! :)

I love this series! It's a bit of a shame that you didn't realise you had powers when you did, but it's kind of fitting that you then became a human - a witch who believed himself human, and by magic that belief came true! Hopefully your next origin brings the magic back, in whatever form you take!

Little tip: Create has a "Controller Rail" that's basically a directional powered rail. If you put it under the airplane, you won't have to give it a little push every time.
Also, to get rid of the 'favorited' recipe in the top left, click and drag it to the bottom left.
This is an impressive build. I was in airfield management for the USAF and from what I remember your markings are spot on. Tip for your hangers: when you're building your hangers and parking area make sure you give enough space for the aircraft to move around each other (this is called wingtip clearance). Hopefully, it'll not only help your build look more accurate but give you room for error with the create mod.
BTW, I'm new to your channel and I really, really enjoy your videos. They always make me feel better. Thank you for being a wonderfully positive influence.
As a bon I fide 'Scarred for Life' fan, when you can go back to some of his other series. And the Hermitcraft season 9 livestream fundraiser for Gamers Outreach! The level of wholesome and feelgood was just mind blowing!!

As a commercial pilot myself you did an amazing job! Two things I’d like to add: usually the red lights on the runway mark the last 1,000 feet so you may want to move them up from the blast area a little bit. And adding some PAPI guidance lights on the side would be a great addition!
Hi Scar, as a pilot I gotta say that your runway is looking excellent, some final things that could be included though are gable markers, the holding points (double dashed, doubled lined marking) and if you're feeling fancy, PAPI and ILS localisers!

Scar going V1 at the end made me happy in ways I never imagined before, you're an absolute legend!
If you use the create trains instead of the minecarts you can set up schedules and signals.
You can use the schedules to automate plane takeoff, for example have it only take off if a passenger is present and you can use signals to insure only one plane is on the runway at a time. It also makes it way easier to have multiple planes.

Most Hermits are pretty nutso when it comes to doing a lavish base construction, but I think this one takes the cake for sheer audacity and ambition.

How can Scar not say 'Functional' but be able to say that mess of Freezers in his first try?! This man is bluffing, I guarantee it. Especially with how fluently he flies through Scarland on Hermitcraft!
As an relitive aviation enthusiast, I can say that this is a increddible rendition of a runway, you even managed to include the thresholds at the end of the runway! Only thing I would say to add the landing markers at the ‘skid mark areas’ which are white rectangles.
I adore how the nether is the worst place but an absolute must if it's for a building. Actually inspiring

scar idk if you did it already but you can better use framed glass panes (from create mod) to make it look like the plane is flying. they have connected textures so disappear if they are connected vertical
You could use the wireless red stone to synchronize and make sure all your lights blink how you want them without it being too spaghetti under your runway! ☺️
You could use the train stuff in the create mod instead of the minecarts. They seem much smoother and easier to use I think

The Left Side stuff that you were wondering about, it's usually bound to "a" just hover over an item and press a to add it to that Bookmark list area, hover over and press a again to remove. Cheers Mate

Hey Scar, I think that PAPI lights would be a really awesome addition to the airport. PAPI (Precision Approach Path Indicators, I think) are four red and white lights, usually to the left of the landing zone, that indicate whether the plane is too high for landing, too low, or just right. It'd be pretty cool if you could look into that! Also, I'm a pretty big aviation fan and I'm loving what you're doing this series. 👍
Instead of carts you could use trains and that would give u the control to decide where to "fly" also then you could automate planes with fly patterns of course you can do all of that with the carts too. Also for 14:58 i went to test in singleplayer to get it while you are looking at the crafting recipe you pull from recipe and place it to the top left screen to delete it you pull it to the bottom of the left screen. Also just as a fact by pressing A by default you can list items to the book mark tab and the bookmark tab is the left side off the inventory.

15:00 Scar, for the GUI:
- Ctrl+O to hide it entirely.
- Ctrl+A (hover the item): to mark it as favorite (top left corner) and also is the same command to unmark it.
- For the box that shows you the crafting recype, you need to click it and move it to de bottom left corner of the screen.
i appreciate you all so much! i was having a terrible day having been pushed out of a hotel for being disabled, doing nothing but waiting for adapted transport, mind you after having paid full price for sleeping at their hotel, but we dont want clients to see a disBled person... anyway you made me laugh, which i taugh impossible this afternoon.
As someone who is visually impaired it hurts me to see people being mistreated like this in public.
I don't know how it is in other parts of the world but in the US you can get a fine for denying service based on disability.
That is sad to hear as a non disabled person, just because a person is disabled doesn't mean their any worse
Hey Scar, you CAN get the jellyfish glow plants from the nether. You just have to use the right tool. And Remember: in modded ALWAYS get the soil it's planted in. The plants are blue and purple, OR pink and orange, I think. Have fun!

For those of you unaware of Compass Designation Markers (the Numbers on the Ground), those are a representation of Direction through Rotation (Magnitude -1). For example, a representation of West is 27, because if you were to Rotate Clockwise to face West, you would end up Rotating 270 Degrees from 0 (North). The '0' at the end of '270' is irrelevant considering it is required to Design Airports within Degrees of 10, and truncating that last Digit (hence Magnitude -1).
I just realized Scar has a Jim Carrey, Johnny Depp quality. Every character hes played becomes part of him. Ace pilot Scar performing an elven twirl solidified this for me.

Scar you'll be very happy to know your runway is pretty accurate! Runways marked 27 (270°) do face either exactly or within 5° of due west. I can't really think of much else to make it more accurate! Looking forward to seeing how the Scarport progresses!
P.s. you may want to add some iron bars with the red lights on either end of the runway, they operate as additional threshold/landing guidance lights😊
As a student pilot I love your airport, the one detail is that the threshhold is usually a few meters from where the runway actual runway

Not sure if this would be the title or the slogan, but I think "Good Times on the Fly" would be a great phrase to have alongside the airport.
your attention to detail is always so inspiring, the fact that you looked at airports on google maps to make sure yours was accurate is unreal!!
Airport name Idea: Scar Central International or something along those lines.
Then you came make mini airports at other places with connections so you can “fly” from place to place
hey scar the airport looks amazing! yes you do have the heading numbers correct! the only stuff is that the yellow line goes out to the white dash part (before the numbers), some airports do 9 instead of 09 but that’s personal preference. some stuff i think would be cool would be stretching the runway out a little more (adds more room and makes it look more real) and add a compass rose!
The runway looks awesome and I can't wait to see how it develops.
My one "complaint" (now that's an exaggeration) is that between the outfit and your plane being a tail dragger a grass strip might have been more appropriate ;P but I'm biased, I just want to see you build an old airfield with rickety hangars and a moaring mast for an airship.
If you ever get those weird rendering issues you can just do F3 + A to refresh it and fix it! :)
In my experience that doesn't work well if you have a lot of mods, not sure how big theirs is but it can take minutes to reload if there is to many

@@chadrussell1221 That's odd, F3+A is a chunk reload so it shouldn't take any longer than it does to load between two waystones. F3+T on the other hand is a full resource reload and is the type of reloading that happens when you move resource packs around in the settings. That reload could potentially take a really long time, almost as long as booting up the modpack.

Looks awesome but definitely needs the aiming points and u should try and build a wind sock. Also add signs saying which taxi way your on ( Like A,B,C…etc).
The runway looks very good. Every small airport has a restaurant or diner, for the pilots to eat and the people to watch the planes. Also you could add the parachutists that jump out of the plane. It would make the build and air look incredibly lively.

You should add the 1000 foot markers, which are these big white boxes beside the center line on both sides. It indicates when you have 1000 feet left of runway in front of you or behind you. It is also used as a common place to touch down on the runway where the touchdown marks (from the tires) are. search it up
Your airport already looks so cool! Some things you could add are a windsock (the tube that shows wind speed and direction) and PAPI (Precision approach path indicator) lights. There are four PAPI lights in a row on both sides of the runway that tell the pilot if are at a good height when landing. Each light can either be red or white. You want to have two red and two white lights to land. More than two red means you’re too low and more than two white means you’re too high. You don’t have to add these but I feel like it would be a really cool addition, especially if you could get them to turn on only when the plane is about to land. Once again, amazing job so far!!! You are really inspirational!
You can also make soul sand using create now if you haunt regular sand (throw it in front of a soul campfire pushed by a fan. Scott has a example with a regular campfire if you don’t want to come up with a design
To get rid of the blocks in the left side: You can use the "a" button to bookmark things. If you use it on the things that you have bookmarked on the left, it will unbookmark them.
Your runway markings are really good. I would add 1000 ft markers and maybe hold short points on the taxiways. You got the runway numbers right and everything lest looks good and accurate to me. Good job!
Flight instructor here….you should add REIL and MALSR lighting systems. the REIL lights strobe and the MALSR flash in sequence. You can use redstone and lamps for those and they would like super cool at night.
Adding a maintenance hanger with equipment, oil stains etc would be cool! Love the Vids Scar!

14:58 to answer your question:click the wheel icon on the side of the little search baar and go to key binds, there somewhere will be a "add to favorites" see what key its bound to. Then press escape, lastly hover your mouse over the things you whant to take away and press the bound key. hope this explaind it whell enough!

I think GTS airport is a pretty good name. It lines up with names of airports in the U.S with the 3 letter system like LAX or JFK

I still think "Scarwest" would be a fun name, although I suppose it might get confusing if he's not actually living in the west.
Also Scar, remember that the Create mod lets you make Soul Sand, so you don't have to be constantly traveling to the Nether!

To get rid of things in the top left corner hover over them with the mouse cursor and press A by default. (you may also add recipes over there from the right to keep them in mind by pressing A on the right side)
To get rid of the pinned recipes, click and drag the white border around the recipe from the top left to the bottom left of the screen. Hope this helps!
Honestly there are like no notes for this runway. The only thing I would say is that runway lights are a different color towards the end to let pilots know they're running out of ground, but aside from that it's perfect.
If you go to the nether make sure you arr playing when Stacy's on

I have a suggestion, what if when you die (yes *when* not if), you incorporated your new life’s origin into the base? So every time you die you now have 2 themes to the base, then 3, etc?

ScarPort is already a pretty good name tbh. I'd also like to suggest 'GTWS Airlines, Air GoodTimes, HotGuy Airlines, or NewLife Air'.
