The thing is, is might be a _bit_ cold during winter but it's really not that bad. Compare it to other places in the world where you'll literally die if you stay out in the elements for too long, you don't get that here, not in the cities anyway. Plus we don't get cyclones or major earthquakes so that's also a plus. As for being left off the map, the only time that ever bothered me was the f'ing 2000 Sydney Olympics where on the official literature Tasmania was missing on the map. That was insulting! But I love it here. It's a beautiful place to live.
I’m from Melbourne but have visited Tasmania several times over my lifetime. It is a wonderful place. Fantastic food, great people, amazing scenery. I will definitely visit again.
Did a fly/drive holiday to Tassie last year 22/23 in peak season and had the best time in a long time. The places - the people - the food - the weather ....... would do it again in a heartbeat! I work in Tourism (Qld) and I can say without hesitation Tassie really knows how to turn Tourism on. With such a short “window” for tourism Tassie really does take full advantage, going over and above to make every experience a great memory.
Born in Tassie but lived for 35 years on the mainland in various states and cities, and also spent time living in a few international cities also. I have just recently moved back to Hobart permanently, absolutely love it here. Life is good, living here is just easy. Wouldn’t live anywhere else... 💚
Our cycling group have cycled different parts of Tasmania 5 times and are looking forward to when we are able to go back to do it all again. The temperate rainforest are so beautiful, let's hope they don't exploit them, their wilderness is unique. Hobart is probably the most beautiful city in Australia.

I live in Melbourne and I love Tasmania, I have been there once, and will be going back to Launceston and Hobart next month. Similar weather as of Melbourne, less people than the mainland and to most people that can be a deal breaker but I love it.

Have neighbourhood watch , more like find out what people been up to group. Everyone friendly , easy make friends and you got the Launceston gorge you can go swimming, pool or fresh water , hiking, rock climbing, chair lift, restaurant, cafe, playground, wildlife all in one. I lived in Tasmania for a couple of years before I left in 1974 and moved to Alaska. Two of the best places in the world. I try to encourage my nieces, nephews and grandchildren to at least visit and skip all those other places
My wife and I fell in love with Tasmania in 1998 and have returned to visit six, maybe seven times since. We have brought family and friends and all have loved it. I know some of you think these people are nuts but the story of our love for Tassie has a connection to where we live in the States. We live in Albuquerque, NM. New Mexico and like Tassie gets no respect. The state of New Mexico lies between Texas and Arizona. It is part of the United States but try telling that to East Coast snobs. When our daughter went back east to college and told people where she was from they wanted to know the exchange rate for currency!!!! Maps of the United States have been published showing the border of Texas aligning with the eastern border of Arizona. It wasn't until "Breaking Bad" was televised that the rest of the country realized we were a US state. A little exaggeration but not much.
I lived in Tasmania for six years and my family owned a pub in st Mays i recommend going to see the huge sights as its honestly worth it (i don' live there anymore and new owners are hella rude)

Just visited Tasmania from New Zealand. Beautiful place, Port Arthur was fascinating, the markets were great but the Zoo is under funded - probably the worst I have ever seen.overall we enjoyed our trip , had dinner at the revolving restaurant at the casino and stayed with family.
I lived in NZ for 4 years and pretty much everything they say about Tassie also applies to Kiwiland. Remote, left out on maps, beautiful nature, but not much to do aside from eating cheese and getting drunk.
Had a fantastic two-week trip to Tasmania-amazing sights and scenery make it a great holiday spot. Friendly people, but the beaches can't beat the east coast of the mainland. Tasmania's summer water is as cold as the east coast in winter water. I certainly recommend a visit, but not for the beaches.
I have visited Tasmania for 2 weeks awhile back and I liked it. As for teasing Tassie people its just a bit of banter....... I live in Canberra so I get it lol.
No heavy crime? The toxic masculinity is criminal. Your ingratitude to the federal government for your dole is criminal. Your hatred of education is criminal. The lack of respect for personal boundaries is heavily criminal.
Tasmania may be small for mainland-ers but it's just as big as South Korea, where I live for now. It's my favorite place in Australia with incredible landscape and amazing wildlife. I really want to move there.
I went there in 2000 when I was 11, studied in New Town Primary School, such a great place! Nice people, very safe, with a lot of places to go trekking/climbing. Love it!
As someone from Hong Kong like myself,I went to Tassie 5 years back and we stayed for 11 nights and did the Grand Circle tour, I can confess Tassie’s scenery is out of this world. I would say it is somewhat similar to Hawaii when it comes to nature, but Tassie is not a place you want to miss. Hobart, Launceston, Strahan, they all have their own charm. I love Indian food and to my surprise, they have tons of good Indian restaurants all around Tassie, and even a lovely Malaysian joint in Hobart........go for it.......I love Tassie and it’s wines......
Iv'e been to Tassie and the people are very friendly and the scenery spectacular . We drove from the bottom to the the top and places in between and found it a great place to visit , yes i would go back again :-)
I’m in Launceston and I literally love this place I am never gonna leave, sure it is a bit ehh being left of Australian stuff but oh well. One point I joined an Australian chat and they asked where in Australia I was and I said Tasmania and all hell broke loose
I've lived in Tasmania for decades after moving from Sydney and wouldn't even consider moving back to the 'North Island' now. This is my home and very special to me and my descendants raised here away from the frenzied lifestyle I grew up in up north.
I'm Surprised no one mentioned the air and water. We have some of the best tap water in the world, its one of things i miss most when i travel. Also the fresh crisp cold air. I just love the fresh air, It's the first thing I notice when I get off the plane (despite it being mixed in the jet fuel fumes)
As an American who spent over a year living in various parts of Australia Tasmania was my favorite area. I found it interesting that people in Sydney and Melbourne would look down on people in Tasmania the same way some Americans look down on Australian's in general. I guess it's just human nature. I loved the people in Tasmania!
Born in Hobart, lived in Rosny, Howrah, Lenah Valley, Firthside, Mt Nelson and now South Hobart. Apart from 4 amazing years in Melbourne in my late teens and early 20's, I've loved 45 out of 49 years in this city. Tasmania is the best place to live, and that is a fully biased/educated opinion.
I personally bridge the gap between Launceston and Hobart - I'm from Launnie born and raised but I'm going to uni in Hobart and wanna work and live in Hobart so idk
went to Tassie last year in December to escape the heat and bushfire haze in Sydney...and I liked it, wish to return there soon when the boarders are open for us Sydneysiders coz of Covid.
I strongly agree ! Tasmania is goddamn fantastic. I have traveled to many different countries, but you know what ? Tasmania is the very first place for me to experience horrible racism attacks. Such a lovely place to enrich your life experience !
I remember standing in Hobart and having a mild panic attack when I realized that the next thing over the horizon was the Antarctic. It's literally the end of the earth. More similar to New Zealand than the rest of Australia.
The rivalry between Hobart and Launceston is like Sydney Melbourne. Launceston always complain that they don’t get everything that they want and Hobart doesn’t agree with them

I like that you showed the fountain twice while everyone is talking about there's not much to see in Tasmania
studied in tassie for 3 years. what a great place it is? can't wait to see it again
Born in Tassie but lived for 35 years on the mainland in various states and cities, and also spent time living in a few international cities also. I have just recently moved back to Hobart permanently, absolutely love it here. Life is good, living here is just easy. Wouldn’t live anywhere else... 💚
That's crazy, I've always wanted to visit Tasmania, it just looks so beautiful and special, I can't wait to be there.
Our cycling group have cycled different parts of Tasmania 5 times and are looking forward to when we are able to go back to do it all again. The temperate rainforest are so beautiful, let's hope they don't exploit them, their wilderness is unique.
Hobart is probably the most beautiful city in Australia.
Always loved it there, definitely looking forward to going back ASAP 😀

Tasmania is on my bucket list! Hope to visit someday!
I'm from Papua New Guinea, and I was in Tassie for a year. I was in Latrobe then later moved to Moriarty. And i enjoyed working with Nichols Poultry, located in East Sassafras. Friendly people, I love the cold weather and also, I miss Tassie so much.
I studied at the University of Tasmania and lived there from Feb 2015 to june 2018 and its very friendly but it can be boring at times managed to find good food and it was underrated
I live in Melbourne and I love Tasmania, I have been there once, and will be going back to Launceston and Hobart next month. Similar weather as of Melbourne, less people than the mainland and to most people that can be a deal breaker but I love it.
Loved Tassie Especially the food and the history and the pristine environment
I am from Launceston Tasmania, no stress , it's quite kind of life , still old school when walk down street I'll have at least 3 conversation with someone I know , and you know your neighbours, have BBQ, parties and coffee with them even ask for a cup of sugar. Have neighbourhood watch , more like find out what people been up to group. Everyone friendly , easy make friends and you got the Launceston gorge you can go swimming, pool or fresh water , hiking, rock climbing, chair lift, restaurant, cafe, playground, wildlife all in one. The best thing is no traffic

You are missing out... Come to far north queensland you know the great barrier reef the daintree rainforest we have the best wild life in the world and the best rain forests aswell..
In short hills new jersey USA we have a street called Hobart Ave.

Hobart, Taz looks lovely. Think I’d really enjoy living there.
Taz, lol
I live in Tassie and I found this video because when I went to the mainland everything was different
No cyclones, no heavy crime, little air pollution. Poblems, yes, but still the safest state to live in.
No heavy crime? The toxic masculinity is criminal. Your ingratitude to the federal government for your dole is criminal. Your hatred of education is criminal.
The lack of respect for personal boundaries is heavily criminal.
Yay Tassie😂 are they at the cat and fiddle arcade?
No not quite The Cat and Fiddle is near by they are in the Elisabeth Street Mall Cat and Fiddle is in Collins Street around the corner almost.
Tasmania may be small for mainland-ers but it's just as big as South Korea, where I live for now. It's my favorite place in Australia with incredible landscape and amazing wildlife. I really want to move there.
I feel very Tasmanian when I recognize the people in the video...
Lol, I'm from NW, but I swear I meet the bloke in the grey hoodie on one of the few trips down a couple year back.
Went to hobart & launceston for our honeymoon & we had a great time. Very laid back & we just love driving long roads with awesome views
I’m in Launceston I live here it’s ok
Feels like Washington, Oregon or Maine in the US, very nice people
Very comparable to Maine. Salem reminded me a lot of North West Tasmania.
Tasmania is a very beautiful place . I've always loved the map of Tassie.😍👌
I’m not sure if many will get that joke 🤣
I went there in 2000 when I was 11, studied in New Town Primary School, such a great place! Nice people, very safe, with a lot of places to go trekking/climbing. Love it!
Tasmanian: we get a lot of rain
Me an Irish person: that's cute.
Hobart doesn’t get that much rain, but the west coast of Tassie is one of the wettest parts of the country. It gets like 2500-3000mm of rain a year
no seriously, it rains 9 months of the year and hails the other 2, then its heat-stroke inducingly hot for 1 month.
Love the idea of visiting Tasmania- but I don’t like the cold. The weather would be the only downside in my view
I loved when I visited Tassie.
Tasmania sounds lovely! I already live in a paradise, but sometimes I consider other places.
Thanks for the idea.
love Tasmania, Hobart. we always get forgotten but, i did see cat and fiddle there.
True about Indian restaurants in Hobart

I've lived in Tasmania for decades after moving from Sydney and wouldn't even consider moving back to the 'North Island' now.
This is my home and very special to me and my descendants raised here away from the frenzied lifestyle I grew up in up north.
I'm Surprised no one mentioned the air and water.
We have some of the best tap water in the world, its one of things i miss most when i travel.
Also the fresh crisp cold air. I just love the fresh air, It's the first thing I notice when I get off the plane (despite it being mixed in the jet fuel fumes)
More chook owners in Tassie than anywhere else I have been in Australia. I have to love that other than all the rooster dumping.
And hearing roosters crowing at dawn whilst in Sandy Bay--refreshing
As an American who spent over a year living in various parts of Australia Tasmania was my favorite area. I found it interesting that people in Sydney and Melbourne would look down on people in Tasmania the same way some Americans look down on Australian's in general. I guess it's just human nature.

The rivalry between Hobart and Launceston is like Sydney Melbourne. Launceston always complain that they don’t get everything that they want and Hobart doesn’t agree with them
