Lyrics:
Way down where the music plays
Way down like a tidal wave
Way down where the fires blaze
Way down, down, way, way on down

Saw Elvis in concert twice. I was 10 and 11 years old. Was on 2nd row both times. I remember it like it was yesterday. My mom made me go. She said she wanted me to be able to say id seen the king perform. Thank you so much Mom!!!
That’s my idea of heaven! I’m jealous. Great for you though. That is such a blessing. You must be a good person for this to have happened to you in your life. 🙏🇬🇧
😮
I'd surely have wet my pants! You are a lucky cuss.
The King is often imitated but never duplicated.
Perfection can't be duplicated
If I remember correctly. This song hit number one on the country charts about three days before he died.
I don't remember it on WBAP ( Fort Worth) but I can tell you the flip side on '45' is called Pledging My Love... I'm gonna find it right now. I had never saw Mom affected by any thing like his passing-- I was 11 in '77
I was devastated. I have never committed my heart to another artist again.
with J. D. Sumner's incredible bass voice!
Scotty Moore, Bill Black, and JD Fontana!
I had the 45 single of this song. J.D. Sumner was a great bass singer. Met him on several occasions from the 1960' up to the 1980's.
Me too!!
This was played 10+ times a day in August '77. I was on holiday in France and this song takes me back. Long live The King.
Yes!!! I was 7yrs old and I remember hearing it for the first time and loving it!❤
The king of music❤
If fans don't like this, they don't deserve Elvis...
People that aren't tuned into Elvis Presley don't have a clue what they are missing he is absolutely the best ever ❤♥
Agreed
Please look up pastor Bob Joyce Benton Arkansas😎🙏
@@pattuner9907 I am so blown away by this my sister has loved EP forever and so have I but listening to a couple songs of EP then listening to pastor Bob it gives me such joy and chills at the same time God bless pastor Bob and everyone Thank you for this I will share this with my family ❤️🙏❤️🙏

@@pattuner9907 WOW
I had no idea this was his last single. You'd never know, he sounds awesome 💜 bloody fantastic song!
The same here.
It was the FIRST single I ever owned.
This was recorded on Halloween night 1976
Loved the man no one can sing like him
This song is so timeless. You could play this today to someone who’s never heard Elvis and they’d think it was recorded in 2022. As his very last single, this was a masterful way to go out. Through all his ailments, addictions, and depression, when it came to the music Elvis never missed a beat.
No way! It’s far too good to have been recorded in the last 20 years! RIP Elvis!
You must not live in the real world. It sounds exactly the time it was recorded.
@@MIKECNW always someone named Mike
I believe this song hit #1 the day he died. Elvis will forever live on through his music whether it's rock 'n' roll, blues or his gospel music
@@MIKECNW your not an true Elvis fan are ya??
This song takes me back to when I was a kid. I loved it. Still do.❤❤❤
This was the last song Elvis ever sang. Always save the last for best. We will never forget Elvis.
This song had rockabilly, country, gospel, R&B, pop, and JD Sumner....all the elements of Elvis wrapped up in his final single and what a song 🎵. Loved this song; my Mom had this song with the blue label Elvis single.
Sounds more like Disco.
Who would have ever thought he'd go that direction.
I still have the Album which is Blue, bought it when I was 11 years old with Paper Route money. Moody Blue!! The King will live forever!
@@MIKECNW He Didn't!
Thais song Is timeless!..a jewel!..Viva Elvis forever🎉🎉🎉🎉
Don't forget blues.
Should have been another #1 for Elvis on the hot 100. I've heard it sold upwards of 6 million and it didn't make the top 10. Billboard dropped the ball on this one.
Love this song. My 5th grade teacher brought her "Moody Blue" album to the classroom and I used to skip recess to listen to it. I became an Elvis fan at age 9., Unfortunately after he passed away.
Hello!!! How are you doing today, please pardon me for intruding into your privacy but I just wanted to know if you’re a fan ? Have a great day. Stay Safe!
Elvis was the greatest musical genius to ever lived
How can you say that? He never wrote a song. Marty Robbins wrote over 200 great songs, and he was also a great singer. He also stayed with his wife till the day he died.
Elvis did not write a single song. Not one of the 600 that were released under his name. He just couldn't do it. Yet his record label insisted he was given writing credit. He was a great performer with charisma who was brilliantly marketed. But not the greatest musical genius ever.
calm down, Elvis was a competent singer nothing more.
@@sirisoj Elvis was the best singer with the greatest stage presence
@@walliegirl2 Marty Robbins is a regular singer and regular country singer songwriter nothing outstanding just because he wrote songs doesn't mean he's extraordinary! Marty is good but he's no Johnny Cash or Hank Williams!!!
Raised on Elvis
An amazing duet. Elvis, probably the best artist ever and JD Sumner, probably the most "way down" bass so far.
Frick Yeah.
Elvis Final recorded song also
Ken turner and jd sumner are forces to be reckon with
JD was a amazing bassist. Hit the lowest note ever recorded by a human.
@@williamcason5157 True but the same is Nick Val here: A B0. Almost infrasoud. ua-cam.com/video/vD5rUYQMc0A/v-deo.html
@@williamcason5157yep, double low C, but that wasn't his lowest note, can you imagine him hitting notes lower then the AO, the lowest note on the piano, he did, GO, FO, EO, DO, & CO! That's how low he could actually go!👍✌️
Elvis Presley is not dead he just went home
I'm a big fan of Elvis he will always be here. And in a hundred years Elvis will still be in style. And the king will live on
Then Priscilla can let him.rip
Really underrated song
Not really. It was a No.1 hit in the UK and Ireland and also reached the Top 20 in the US and Canada. Also covered by Status Quo for their album "Famous In The Last Century".
Here in May 31st 2024. ❤ Elvis Presley Can't be Beat. ❤
Love this Elvis tune. This song was actually going down the charts just prior to the death of Elvis. After his dearth it shot up the charts and went to #'1 on the country charts and # 14 on the pop charts.
Wow what a song to finish on, but then again that's why Elvis was King!
No shit
The greatest ever
Normally the final song of a singer is mainly slow but you know what? This song could be used for Elvis going to the afterlife and angels begin to dance
he was older. he was tired. but, HE IS STILL THE F==KING king of rock 'n roll. rest in peace Elvis Aaron,
Ooooh my head is spinning you got me in your spell a hundred miles a minute a swirling carousel...The King 🤴 🎶
Elvis could sing any style of music from country to rock. His voice was supernatural and his charisma unmatched.
And it was recorded at Graceland.
The King is dead. Long live the King.🎼🎸
Loved Elvis since I was a child and I still love Elvis!
sandyRndisco1-It's just a shame that people won't let rest instead of trying to convince everybody he's still alive, and in hiding.
sandyRndisco1-It's just a shame that people won't let rest instead of trying to convince everybody he's still alive, and in hiding.
There will be another Elvis! Long live the king of rock and roll!
Will never be
Spencer Charnas granted he is MUCH heavier music but his cover of “Can’t Help Falling In Love” is very well done. If you want to check it out do audio only. UA-cam forced a take down of the music video but his band is called Ice Nine Kills
One of my favourite Elvis songs!! I am actually learning to play it on the piano!!
The bass singer is the late great, J.D. Sumner- the world's lowest bass singer, at the end of the song, he hits a double low C, the lowest c on the piano, it's the second or third from the last key witch is an AO, he's actually hit below the AO, he's hit a mind boggling EO, I think that's four notes off the piano I think, just some information, didn't know if you knew👍✌️
Thanks very much! Useful information!
Pure Elvis!!!!!🙏🎶❤🎶

A wonderful song from the King.He never lost that God given voice.
One of THE best Elvis songs! Such good memories of my mom & I singin it in the middle of the living room!
Very Underrated
Ohhhh i love this song.... The part when JD go looooooow ... 😅
Elvis is timeless and still Taking Care of Business ❤
Amazing voice to the end. A legend.
J.D. Sumner hitting the double low C, lowest C on the piano! & he could go another 6 notes lower then that! C0 or D0!👍✌

One of his last songs, but his voice was still amazing.
This is the best Elvis song for me. Always enjoyed listening to this.
If you listen to it the musical filling is amazing. Always something going on. From a piano note or two in unexpected parts to a bass dragging or drum fills. It has many things going on at once snd over fills perfectly. Takes years for a band to get this tight
Growing up in the early 70’s I can remember mama pulling out “the blue record” and playing it on a RCA turntable🙂
❤️Way Down
Me too. My Dad's car pulled out of the driveway at 3:10 and Elvis started cranking at 3:11. Thank God for 2nd shift. My Mom was my shelter.
Absolutely have always loved this song! Very underrated!!

This song is more Elvis than Elvis himself.
Elvis long live the king of rock n roll.
The Real Deal 👑
Remembering Elvis for his 82nd anniversary.
I cant imagine what it was like when this came out!
I am a big Elvis fan this is my favorite song of all.
Elvis music lives forever. I am very lucky I got the chance to see him in concert. we
That must of been fantastic Susan, you are so lucky. I was at a school camp in Australia when they came & told us all at assembly - Very sad for the world - Thank You Elvis for your music. Visiting Hawaii next year and will walk the beach where he walked.......LOL
Underrated!
Nothing compares to Elvis 👑👑
That dramatic ending in this song, in my way of interpreting it, symbolizes how Elvis's life ended, since this song came out 4 days after his death... And it was one of his last number 1 song.
Elvis estaba predestinado a vivir poco
the best Elvis Presley
70s awesome ❤❤
Elvis will never die just push play
And yet whenever they do a music list on UA-cam covering the 70s there’s never an Elvis track.

Tomahawk Chop it would be nice if anvils fell on each of their heads.
This song was #1 in Ireland for two non-consecutive weeks in September 1977. It can be heard on the 1977 episode of RTÉ's Reeling In The Years.
Great show, that Reeling in the Years. Used to watch it on my visits to the Sacred Sod.
HOW does anyone listen to this song and not start moving and singing the song with Elvis! Good song.
The Kings last ‘Single’ and the last one I ever bought 🙏 Long live the King
Elvis + JD Summers = perfection
Remember pretty well the first time I heard this on the radio while my dad was driving in 1977, I remember the street name, it was it and it is unforgettable., I love every second of it.
AWESOME SONG❤👑
Gotta love me some Elvis!
Way down another favorite Elvis Presley song. All elvis songs are my favorite none of them sux 2 thumbs up good buddy 😂❤❤❤❤❤

Never heard this before.....cool!
Wow but thank god u did amazing x
That song should be out in the 80 at the disco for me ❤❣❤❣
The king 2023
Still here😉
Was in the Top 40 when Elvis died.
Reached No.1 in the UK w/e 3 September 1977 and stayed there for 5 weeks.
I’m only here after hearing Geoff Castellucci’s amazing cover!
same here but of course I heard it before..love Geoff's version but..this is the real thing..
@@janedoe6241 Gonna agree to disagree with you on this. Geoff's version (in my opinion) destroys this one and beats it within an inch of it's life till it begs for mercy.
Whoever prefers Geoffs version were not alive on 16/8/77
I personally am a huge fan of Geoff, but the original is better imo
I like Geoffs songs where he uses his range to better the song, rather than simply show it off

Coincidentally - as the title suggests >THE KINGS' last 'official' 45 release; Long live E
Had the 45 to this song. Only one i owned from Elvis. We were on our way back from a vacation in California. We made it to Idaho Falls on our way home to Calgary Alberta when we heard on the radio. Our family was stunned. I was just about to start high school that September. I remember quite vividly thinking " God, No". Here he had this hit climbing the charts and suddenly, he was gone. Truly tragic!
Go Elvis Makes Me Shiver He Was The King ❤RIP
At 1:58 you can hear Elvis start to hum ‘hold’ and at 2.00 you can hear him definitely start to sing the word ‘hold’ early but then he eventually comes in with ‘hold me again’.This is different from the other official recording I have heard where this has been cut out -really interesting. You can also hear the bit where he comes in early on the demo recordings.
The king and and forever
GREAT SONG! Thank you, Elvis. 👏👏👏 👏
long live the king
Way way way d o w n... ELVIS forever!
Surely the bass singer in this is J. D. Sumner. The Guinness Book of World records is supposed to have named him as hitting the lowest note on the planet. That's way on down.
yep, sure is. he could sing another 6 notes lower than the lowest note at the end of this song. THATS way on down XD
what i dont understand is why some people thinks it elvis singing "way on down", its sounds nothing like him.
@@Sgt.Hartman he sings way down. Not way on down. probably what people are referring to
@Hal Bennett, So true, JD was THE best bass singer in my opinion, he added so much to Elvis's sound, a true legend.
Pretty sure he has the lowest note and it's in chest. Imagine if he knew some other bass singing techniques like subharmonics
good song elvis is pretty good!
Woww 🔥
One of the few 70's hits of The King. His four 70's great hits was: The Wonder Of You, Always On My Mind, Burning Love and Way Down
Would you consider his songs promised land and separate ways big hits or not really
Elvis and Sumner, hard to beat that combo
Elvis' honeymoon Circle K ranch is right up the road from my place. Horn Lake, Mississippi, sometimes I drive by w/ a glance while playing an Elvis tune.
