I’m convinced that Sadie is going to build her own tree house by the age of 5, drive a truck by 10 and manage the coffee farm by 14.

Gray grout for sure! Do a pale gray and then you won’t have to worry about dirt or stains nearly as much as you would with white grout, but you will still have that “look”.

When my girls were little they were three years apart and I always called them my big helpers and they really were! They learned how to do so many things as very young children, including cooking, gardening and sewing and I kid you not, they would make me coffee and bring it to me on the weekends and breakfast in bed when they were 5 and 2! They also got their own breakfast most mornings, making things that did not involve the stove. Children LOVE to simply TRY new things and once the master a skill it stays with them forever! Proud of you kids on all fronts. You got this in spades~
"Bullnose tile" has a ceramic lip over one edge to use on edges where the ceramic covers the raw rough edge. Can be used on the front edge of the seat or a counter top or sideways on a wall edge. Great job on the tiles and with parenting Sadie !!!

Hey guys. I’ve been following you folks for several years. In fact you two are the first couple of people I started following when I became infatuated with van life. Fast forward 3-4-5 years can’t even remember how long , my wife and I finally pulled the trigger. We bought a van and are on our first mini trip to sort of iron out the kinks. We are from RI and tonight we are boondocking in Vt 1/2 hr away from The Roastery. In honor of you both, our first trip out had to include a trip to the coffee shop and a purchase of some fine Panamanian coffee beans!!! We will see your fine establishment in the morning.

I have white subway with gray grout and love it! The floor is white hexagon w/ the same grout. In fact, I used the same color grout with dark charcoal tile in the foyer and kitchen. I think you would really like the look. Also, you might want to “Scotchgard” your beautiful textile bathroom lamp. There will be a lot of moisture in the bathroom and you don’t want the lamp to mold.
Gray grout, for sure. White grout will only look gray after a bit as it will never stay clean!
Since you asked, gray grout! Dark gray ... with humidity already present, and being in the shower/bath area, it will be an ongoing battle with mildew and black mold. Best cleaning: spray bottle with vinegar, and/or hydrogen peroxide/baking soda paste mix ... spread, wait, scrub off with old toothbrush. My first bath reno was subway tile, white. Next reno was large field tile, zero grout lines (super, super thin) ... less grout to clean and keep up, and just a spritz and wipe down. You might want to even rethink the black option ... Great video as always; Sadie is just amazing, as are her parents! Rodrigo!! The plot thickens ... 😍

You’re an awesome mom! My children knew how to manipulate fractions before they went to school because they helped me bake and I would only use a 1/4 & 1/3 cup measuring cup. When they got older they knew about banking and personal finance from involving them in those activities. These are things we have to do anyway so why waste the opportunity to tach our children and spend such precious time with them. They grow up so fast!💜

Grey grout since it is humid. White will only show the mold and dirt and a nightmare to keep clean. Sadie is sooooo precious and beautiful like her Mama.
But meanwhile mold is something you need to clean ASAP. I had white and a Brillo pad rids it easily. Most people clean the tub 1-2 times a week...

I vote white grout for this reason: In a moist environment you may need additional steps to keep it clean and white is the easiest to clean ;-)
Gray! I have white subway tile in my shower with gray grout and it’s great, easy to clean. White always gets yellow over time. Gray!!
As a designer, I almost never recommend white grout. It’s hard to keep white even when sealed. I would recommend a light gray. I don’t like the dark grout on white tile so I’m glad you threw out the idea of black grout. Since the shower is long and narrow, I would keep it light so the light from all of the windows doesn’t get absorbed by a dark shower. I would also recommend tiling the floor before finishing the lower part of the wall. If there is bullnose tile available (big if) use that for the edges of the shower walls ama bench do you don’t see the unfinished terracotta edge of the tile. You can also use the metal tile border IF that’s available where you are. FYI, when mudding your drywall use a wide putty knife to avoid so many lines in the mud. Thin the mud with water for the first coat. After the second coat you can use this wide knife to knock off those parts of the mud that aren’t smooth before you start sanding.

Though I think that white tile with white grout would look nicer, a very clean look, eventually, keeping that white grout clean becomes a chore, so I would probably go with the gray grout. But that's just me. BTW, I just love how you two make each other laugh all of the time. I laugh every time with you.
Gray, (make sure your seal the grout before you use shower!!!) white looks dirty so quickly, having a completed functional bathroom is such an accomplishment. !!!
I don’t know how to private message, so as much as I might get flack for what I’m about to mention amongst all the heartfelt Sadie and Rodrigo comments, which I totally feel as well, I feel it’s still important in the long run for the rest of this bathroom build and any future tile or masonry projects;
I realize y’all may have already been using this method and due to editing I never noticed, but just in case there’s a technique for tile, stone, and brick/masonry in general called back buttering; Wherein you trowel your specific sized notch trowel on either your tile itself, or the floor/wall/ceiling substrate y’all are working with, and then using the flat side of your trowel spread a thin skim coat to the opposing contact point. This not only helps fill any gaps in the multidimensional backside of most tiles; (ie. The porcelain tile y’all are currently using) and also the textured surface of your substrate, but also aids in a more perfect bond and leveling from one tile, stone, brick etc. to the next. Peace, love, and blessings to y’all at Lola’s farm, it’s amazing and y’all are creating an amazing future that I’m excited and proud to witness…thanks for sharing…from one self-sufficient off gridder to another…

I like how you'll use the name Baba with Sadie. I guess it means "baby" you are the only person I hear with that name besides my Mom. After she was diagnosed with Alzeihmers dementia she forgot how to say many things like baby so she used to call her great granddaughter "Baba" it was so cute to hear her saying it. May she R.I.P. For the bench, I would take a large stone tile and place it at a slight angle to the front so that the water comes down better. 👍☺

Be sure place the faucet in the center of the tub. That way you can both be in the tub or one person can enjoy whichever view they decide. With the window placement you will need a freestanding tub filler. It’s more expensive but you will appreciate it. No one wants a spout poking them in the neck.

Grey grout. Cleaning white grout is so hard in time. Mold will grow. Sealing it helps but.....grey disguises it.

I would do grey, don’t do black it will leave a faint tint on your white tile it’s like the white tile soaks that color in. Probably because tiles are porous.

The tile looks really good, as far as grout color choice, the look you have without grout makes it look like you have used grey grout and I think it looks really good.
Something else to think of, tile all the way up and the ceilings of your shower and steam room. Our tile guy recommended this to us when we gutted and remodeled our bathrooms. It has been a lifesaver in regard to humidity, mold, and cleanliness. It is also so pretty, shiny, and clean all the time.

Gray grout; I have both white and gray in my house. White in the kitchen and gray in bathroom and I like the gray much better. Tile guy who did my bathroom recommended I go with the light gray instead of white and he was spot on.

WHITE grout on the walls. It will look cleaner and make the space appear more spacious. It also just looks much nicer and it makes the tile, NOT the grout, stand out. Light GRAY grout on floor tile to conceal the dirt.
