So instead of burying all your plumbing behind cement board and tile, make a plumbing access door on the OUTSIDE OF THE BUILDING, all framed up like you planned it, and painted pretty. That way, if the worst happens and you have to fix that plumbing, you won't have to break all your tile or destroy your wall.

Yes we learned that the hard way in the shower! We had a pipe leak and had to cut a huge square in the wall to get to it 🫤
I hung framed art over the whole to cover it 🙄
So we could get to the plumbing again if need be

Sorry I’m late to inform you that concerning mud on drywall… get a half moon sponge wet it and when the joint compound is in its final stage of drying… sponge it smooth and feather it out. NO need to sand and eat dust, much less spread any dust! Love you guys!

You can also use these thin, flexible Japanese spatulas. You'll need significantly less material and sanding to create a flat wall.

One thing to keep in mind for your greenhouse is that you want pollinating insects to be able to access your plants. Otherwise, they will grow but will not produce vegetables or fruit. If you completely encase your greenhouse in plastic, you may wind up shooting yourself in the foot when it comes to having a good harvest.

Guys... You could have avoided 99.9% sanding. Pros add a little extra water to mud and apply super wide and thin. Doing it 3 times fast would take like 4 hours max and min to no sanding with a sanding block. I'm sure there's a UA-cam video for that ;) All the best!

Funny story...yesterday i was at the store getting supplies for a workshop sink. The cashier asked what i was doing and when i told him he then told me that i should watch YOUTube and look for this couple who moved to Panama and are doing all the work themselves, he said maybe i could get some ideas from their channel...pretty soon we were talking about you on Lolas Farm. Love you folks and thanks for all the ideas!!

Use your shower for a week, to test for leaks, before the concrete backer board and tile go up. Also, install weep holes in the floor to detect leaks in years to come. There will eventually be leaks, it's best to notice them immediately, than months later when mold is found. Create access doors from the outside to easily repair those eventual leaks. You'll thank your past self if a light or electricity box is built in now, when those future repairs are made.

Nice to have progress on the bathroom.
My husband used to be a general contractor and later became a supervisor for a huge property group and wanted me to suggest an easier process to help eliminate the over-mudding and extra sanding that gets tiresome.
After sanding your first mud, paint the walls and then only sand the areas that require it then go back and mud those areas and wipe gently with a wet sponge to smooth it out.
I have tried his method and it does seem to eliminate a lot of the back and forth.

One of the best things I have ever seen, was a true master at drywalling. The way he could use a tape gun and mud so smoothly there was no need to sand afterward. All while walking a bucket (this is where you stand on a bucket and wobble it back and forth to move along the wall). This guy was a natural, the guy who trained him was no where near as good.

  • @jimr9898

Before you paint the drywall, use a flashlight to shine across the drywall that has been mudded to check for any imperfections you might not have noticed. Do it from a couple different angles. For the remaining drywall it is less work and mess if you go with thinner amounts of mud and do several layers than to use more mud in thicker layers. Plus, the thinner layers will dry faster.

Another great video. The weld quality, nice.
Been meaning to tell you and Altoro regarding the coffee competition... These kind of ratings and rankings are absolutely a 'good ol boys club'. If they were really looking for the best coffee taste or flavor, then it would be a 'blind test' where the judges do not know the identity of the contestant. The test is designed to give them the ability to rank based on who is competing and opens the whole results to suspicion of bribes and favoritism not to mention the actual component that the subject of flavor and preference is subjective. Just something to consider. We came from the Professional Photography background where the 'same ol photographers' won the competitions when there were clearly some excellent 'new comers' with wonderful entries and exceptional vision but would be ignored because there are expected winners that must win. Don't give up, but just realize there is more to the game that is not always obvious when when you anticipate that 'competitions are fair'. Some are clearly not. If the competition is too expensive to compete in, devote those dollars somewhere else it is needed. Was wonderful to watch the preparation and the story.
Absolutely love your channel and your family. God bless.

I realize you guys are learning and you are doing a great job. However, whenever you do any mud, plaster, or polyfilla, before it completely dries give it a wipe down with a damp sponge. This will help smooth down a lot of the rough spots/edges and help keep the amount of dust down from sanding. Cheers guys!

Good job on your first go. I'll say before there was "dry wall" there was plaster. Plaster is designed to "wet sand" with a damp sponge and so is joint compound. Next time focus on improving your knife technique (like a plasterer). 1st pass with a 2" knife to cover your tape. Go wider on your 2nd pass with a 12" knife. 3rd pass double your width using your 12" knife. Spread you joint compound tight and thin, no cracking. "You will only have to "wet sand" the edges with a damp sponge. no dust, you'll be amazed.

🦋 It seems like you’re confusing muddying with plastering. And you are definitely right about one more coat one more sanding. And the amount of powder that’s accumulating in the air, and on the surfaces definitely points to the direction that you are putting it on to thick.

    _Technique_ :
Purple primer is very thin stuff so trying to work with a fully soaked applicator means there's gonna be purple everywhere.
You can sort of squeegee the primer applicator against the rim of the can opening as you're pulling it out.
Be poised to immediately apply it to the pipe, giving it less time to drip.

Y'all might want to consider looking around your shower stall and putting in another one of those seats or built-in bench that is a little larger to sit on. They are heaven in a shower.

I purchased 2 bags of the Midnight Maiden. I will bring them to Davao City, Mindinao Philippines where amazing coffee beans are grown in the mountains around Mount Apo. I want my friend Joefel to try your coffee. He is always so cool to give me his coffee that he roasts at his roastery/cafe (Purge Coffee Roaster) to bring back home to California. I know he will really love your coffee. I can’t wait to try it.
I love watching your progress. You guys are all amazing, the whole farm crew. But most of all that little angel. Shes a lucky little girl to have such great parents and people in her life.
I can’t wait to see my little angel in the Philippines. Sadie makes me smile and laugh just like Ianna does.
Looking forward to every new video.

Your both doing a fantastic job on the washroom. The green house window that is left to do might be better with glass, as in intense weather may tear that plastic apart. Have a great day my friends ❤️🙂⚘️.

    Moisture and mold problems
Both plaster and joint compound can be affected by moisture and mold if they are exposed to water leaks, high humidity, or poor ventilation. Moisture can cause plaster to crack, crumble, or detach from the lath (the wooden strips that support it). Joint compound can swell, soften, or peel off the drywall. Mold can grow on both materials and cause health problems, such as allergies, asthma, and infections.

Just a warning: The first time AND last time sanding drywall, I had my ear canal's fill with dust and harden into plugs. I had to go to my Doctor to have the plugs removed. I figure from now on, if I do drywall again (never), I will use ear plugs. Art in Calif.
