Thanks for the unreal memories and growing friendship Grace and Bill! This was such an amazing trip in the Pacific Northwest with you two! We laughed the whole time! It’s was so cool! Thanks for the shout out for my channel! Can’t wait for our next adventure together, it will be soon! I think the best part of our friendship is trying to figure out if Grace or I, am the crazier friend haha still undecided… Darryl Hodgson I Dream of Dinghy!
I'm a subscriber of one channel...I watch the obvious...we know who they are. True Sailors, themselves my peeps. I will be a friend to channel...even tho' Captn Ray is Land locked in Arizona? Soon the last vessel....I'm sure it will need Sails! Peace.
Yay!! Beautiful B.C.! Fabulous scenery - so glad you got to see whales! So happy the weather held for you guys and that you made it to Desolation Sound!
my daughter just moved to Victoria. We explored Vancouver Island a bit last year - would love to do something like this trip. The West Coast of Canada is simply gorgeous. Does a good old Canadian boy's heart good to see the Maple Leaf Flying on the stern of that RIB
Great video. So nice to see whales. Vancouver Island is so beautiful. Lived there for 7 years. in Sidney. So much to see. Love the music you chose. Beautiful photography. Thanks for sharing.
I've sailed the Discovery and Bute inlet for decades. While I'd love to sail elsewhere, I'm afraid that other than warmer waters and surface temps, it would pale in comparison to what I have in my own backyard. Hope you enjoyed your time here. Few people from the South come here because they aren't expecting to see anything but arctic weather being that this is Canada....Their loss!🤣And of course the natural hot springs that are all over the North Island area...Makes for a nice place to warm up after a cool ocean plunge!
Nice one Bill and Grace. Glad you enjoyed my Country and the west Coast Beauty. It's great you met up with the Crazy Canuck Darryl and had the adventure of our Canadian Fjord. Amazing the whales Porpoises you got to see numerous times during your stay. Also how nice to meet up with your ole friends and spend time and catch up with them. The video quality was outstanding, but photos or videos don't show the real beauty of BC it s best to witness in person as you both did. Looking forward to next video
You two both so deserved this break. It looks like a world of weight has been lifted from your shoulders. Grace, your videography was phenomenal. Thank you so much for sharing this incredible journey. Stay safe out there!
Really stunning scenery, and whales up close, how cool is that... absolutely love the cabin in the woods, it's going to be their own little slice of heaven when it's all complete!
Darrel is a total Legend!! Pretty huge to have a personal tour guide with a kick tail rib to see the sights and deliver you to your friends. Really like his D dingey channel and looking fwd to checking out Bremily. Their Allures 39.9 is absolutely gorgeous. Thanks for another awesome adventure !
Hi, I want to thank you for what I consider one of your best videos. It brought up many memories of my past from work to pleasure. I'm very grateful. Thanks again!
Well documented with good video editing. Maybe one of these days, you'll sail north to BC and Alaska. Thanks for sharing with us all, wishing you all the best. 😊🇨🇦
I lived on SV Thane in the summer of 1994. We had a blast running day charters out of Victoria harbour to the islands. A pod of orcas decided to swim alongside us one day. Watching this brought back many great memories - cheers guys!
I saw the episode where Daryl delivered Colin’s sails and I believe it was around 3000 miles! You can tell he love’s every minute of it too! His Zodiac is awesome!
Ever since I started following you guys, I’ve hoped that you would make it to the Northwest someday to see our corner of the world. I’m glad that you enjoyed it.
Wow! What an amazing piece of work! As a sailor I really enjoy your story’s about the boat and the passages, but this video clearly shows your skills as storytellers. The photography, videos and drone shots not to mention the hundreds of edits are gorgeous! Clearly when you don’t have to worry about navigating Calico safely you can have fun as story tellers. Beautiful scenery and great friends. The whale and dolphin shots as well as the distant mountains …. Stunning. Congrats nice work!
Wow, I've been watching your channel for a while and you end up in the area I called home for five years. We built a log cabin on the Greene Point Rapids in the late 80s, just a mile away from Blind Channel - I waited and waited for you to go by but you seemed to take the Georgia Straits instead of hugging the mainland. All the scenery was just my home. Loved the video. I would hear the orcas spout when I was up in the garden and head to the water in my canoe just to witness their passing. Also was a 'flying teacher' visiting kids on conrrespondence schooling and we had a boy at Refuge Cove - son of a woman who's career was tracking and documenting the orca family pods - talk about full circle.
I've had the opportunity to explore Desolation Sound with the Canadian Navy in the early 90s while I was training, and then later went back with the Canadian Air Force in an Aurora Long Range Patrol Aircraft. One of the most beautiful places I have been. Fantastic to see you guys experience it yourself.
Glad to see you got a little taste of bc. I don’t consider your away from civilization until you are north of Vancouver Island. If you ever get a chance to see.Don’t turn it up.Thanks for the videos. I’ll be staying tuned
Agreed on the North of Vancouver Island comment! Been up north lots… I have invited Bill and Grace on a northern trip one day! Can’t be hard to convince Grace to do that lol 😂
I have gone back to the beginning of your channel and I am binge watching. I am currently where you’re at the San Blas islands. You have had continuing winless trouble. If it happens again, simply Thai a long piece of rope to the chain, where it comes out of the ball roller lead the rope back to a winch in the cockpit is the winch to lift the chain with your length of boat you should get about 30 feet of chain up, then you can put on your chain restrainer line untie the line at the winch in the cockpit, retired at the bow and do that again it saves on the back
Well, that was fun. Your friends have a beautiful piece of land. I have setup several temporary docks. 2' wide by 20' scaffold planks can cover a lot of ground with little weight. add a dock float to the end of one and you have a gangway. Just a thought for their dock.
That was our summer cruise, Comox, Quadra, Cortes, Texada, Hornby, Denman. We stopped across the way from Refuge in Squirrel cove. So yeah, wonderful country but at sailboat speeds. I don't know that we will manage to get tired of this area. It's our version of "world travel", exploring the world starting in our "backyard". We have not tried Seymour narrows but if we ever want to go around the west side of Vancouver Island, that will be part of the trip.
Such a contrast from the Baja it's incredible. I was told the area was undiscribable...and about the rain forest. Your Buddy picked a Great Name for his Dingy channel...I have my Avon still...since 1986? It's seen Rocky Point Mexico before and will again soon! The " Allure" is magnificient...I thought at first it was a Juneau. Aluminum...? Wow. The Evenrude 2 stroke was an E-Tec...i was wondering..incredible motors.
Merc merc merc?...$$$$. Brother I stopped a 50hp with my Knee on liberty in the East River?... Gang Green Come ON DOWN!... Bethesda for my 19th... You won't talk to many who survived that. Sailor 4 life., started EXACTLY where Bill+ Grace started. New Heather Hild? Sail makers...you people are PRICELESS.I got a Rude 4hp from 75? Long shaft, no neutral...runs like a champ.
Unbelievable! The no. Of whale 🐳 🐋 sightings. The Pacific NW is so beautiful, but cold water. The 🦞 seafood sooo good. Weather best from June-August. September fall comes in on time. Beautiful trip! Blessings!🎉😊
I really loved this episode! I too saw the bald eagle early in the vid. While you weren't sailing this was still a wonderful adventure. And you saw whales, porpoises, and orkas! Plus Bill caught regular fish to boot. Then there's also your friend's little piece of land that they are developing! How cool is that. : - )
So happy to see you guys have such a great visit. Our sailboat is on our mourning in Harriet Bay right beside taku resort . The windigo. You guys would have been welcome to take her for a week or 2 . Perhaps another year . Keep being awesome and making amazing videos
This is my favorite episode ever Bill and Grace 😂❤😂we love y’all SO much and just had such a wonderful time with you. Thanks for making the effort to visit us all the way out on the island, can’t wait for the day when we can have a sleepover in the cabin! Great job on the vid, and WOW what an epic journey overall. So nice meeting Daryl too. Much love ❤Ps thanks for introducing us to some of your viewers on the Tube! Super sweet and we look forward to sharing the cabin build experience :)
As an Alaska resident this is more like my neck of the woods than the usual warm environments I have seen you in. This was a really nice video, thanks!!!
That was an amazing video. The beauty of BC is incredible. I think you spotted an Eagle without knowing it? My favorite bird I’ve heard they’re abundant in that area and Alaska ❤️
Fantastic videography! So happy you enjoyed it and reminded my how beautiful the BC coast is🙏. Right in my backyard. We love loving here on the coast. It’s so peaceful you can hear your soul breathe❤️
So guess where I spent my whole summer on my 42' Whitby ketch also home Yup Paradise Norte Drew Harbour a summer of boat work and play combined. I had two huge make Orcas surface right off Taku while rowing my inflatable to Heriot Bay I often cut through the Taku docks and pass the cabins. Everyone in the cabins were yelling whales. They were right beside me. Calling Ron, Darrel, and Jeremy to order a new main sail this week.

yep! lol
Yes sir that’s me 😂😂

We would love that 💕
As for whales, seems like a 'pod cast' ought to be what you call a whale song. Don't ya think?

STRAWBERRY FIELDS FOREVER

Hi guys. One of your best episodes! really enjoyed this one. Did you have time to connect to Breaking Waves? Bill from Boston.
Thank u :) we liked this one a lot too. No we tried but they had a lot going on during the dates we were there unfortunately:/
BTW - I was wondering what RIB stood for. Then from somewhere in my brain came Rubber Inflatable Boat. Would I be correct?
It’s actually Rigid Inflatable Boat!
@@CalicoSkiesSailing Okay, . . . But if it is not inflated, it is limp not rigid. Gee, most boats are considered feminine, but this really sounds like a Male boat problem. ; - )
😂
What is the Big Bear’s channel name?
We’re Off Grid Island with Bremily 😂
Sorry, I should’ve checked the spelling on the voice to text on my iPhone

So who won the most inspirational UA-cam sailor at the boat show?
Its Craig Wood! His handle is woodyies :)
