Marie Fredriksson was a great artist and human being. She was generous, humble, emphatic person, so far away from the divas in the music industry. But at the same time, she was the leader of the band, a marvelous and charismatic singer, interpreter and songwriter specially in her first language Swedish. Sadly she died on the 9th December 2019.
They were all friends from the same town. One of the great things about this band is that they were all such good friends and stayed that way.
R.I.P Marie Fredriksson, still I listen his music.
My first favourite Band, with 7 years. My parents took me to the Joyride Tour. Not ashamed to say that nowdays, as Metalhead.

Roxette played at a Lime mine where I lived about 15 years ago. Only i problem was i worked abroad at that time. Read in the News that Per called his mom, and said how awesome the sound was in the lime mine
Has always been a hardrocker(i am 57)but listen to other music too. Roxette was/is a great band,good musicans and good songs. And Marie was in a class of her own(RIP)...

Marie went through some very tough times with a major brain tumor in the early 2000’s. She had to relearn speaking, reading and writing.
They reunited as a band and I was lucky enough to see them.

They did a a long tour - The Neverending World Tour - and came to Australia in 2015
She is still a Quueeeen! It is a concert from 1991. A video on the internet. And she just made the cute duo in the reaction clapping at the end of the song. Like if they both are her live alians. Marie was cool. Fun to watch. Thank you.

Per and Marie was childhood friends, he said after her passing he had lost a sister
It’s fascinating to see Marie command the stage and the audience with such confidence, considering how cripplingly shy she was when she first emerged. The classic story being that her mother cried when she was too terrified to even open her eyes during her first live appearance on national television. I’m sure it’s here somewhere on the tube. (She was doing backing vocals for Per’s previous band, Gyllene Tider).
The studio version of this, on the Look Sharp album was a one take. Marie recorded it at 4am. Per and their producer (playing keyboards) were driving her crazy, telling her to sing it this way or that way… she was so fed up she walked onto the recording booth, leaving them stunned as she recorded it, thinking: this is it.

Roxette and Divinyls both had some great songs.
Roxette live is phenomenal! Very underrated show. They rocked out every song, and like ya'll said they had such great chemistry on stage. They had fun so it didn't look like a job...
Plus this goes back to something that's missing from today's music. Roxette and other successful 70's and 80's bands were ungodly talented musicians. They made it a mission to blow the audience away with their live show. Today bands don't focus on this. They write a song and get 95% of it sounding good then they hit one part that's rough....well they just edit that part in the studio. Problem is when you try to play live you can't edit or skip that rough part of the song....thus exposing the band really isn't as good as you are led to believe by what you hear on the album or radio. There's a reason so many 70's and 80's bands still tour......it's the quality of the live music that keeps people coming back.

Absolutely love this band from as far back as 1989, i have a handful of bands that i regard as my all time favourites & Roxette are the ones that stand out. Some people call them cheesy or whatever but if you've been a fan for as long as i have then you'll realise with the catalogue of music they have made that they are something special. R.I.P Marie & Pelle.

What I love about roxette is the role reversal.
One track it’s him, with her in the background, and in the next he is the echo.

Not at all. I was lucky enough to be at Per's concert in Amsterdam where Marie came on stage as a surprise guest for the first time in years. Great show, great band. RIP Marie and Pelle (Alsing, the drummer in this clip).
