Jessica: Where’s Roger?
Eddie: Roger? He chickened out on me.
Jessica: No he didn’t. I hit him on the head with a frying pan and put him in the trunk. So he wouldn’t get hurt.
Eddie: ... Makes perfect sense.
Honestly my favorite moment from Jessica!
Back when the idea of seeing your favorite nostalgic chsrecters together didn't make everyone cynical.
@Landen Memphis yeah! And it totally didn't give me a virus!
By the way, that was sarcasm.
This movie is such a classic. I love Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
same thing
who doesn't
Same here. It is truly a masterpiece. One that I love to watch over and over again. 😃
Same. It’s freaking awesome
Me Too
“I’m not bad, I’m just drawn that way”. Happy 30th anniversary Roger Rabbit!!
And in 2023, it will be the 35th Anniversary of Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
I FUCKING LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!!
me too
Alienboy so do I man
glad you enjoy the movie
Everybody loves it!
Yeah who dosent ya maroon, literally everyone loves this movie, including me.
My favorite movie of all time. Cartoon crossovers, film noir detectives, Easter eggs, skillfull cinematography and animation, loveable characters, a retro Hollywood aesthetic, homages to the art and history of animation... what's not to love?
Forget the Khardashians, Jessica is the only real hot babe youngin's should be into
Jessica is sexy enough when she's in her dress, in my eyes. But yeah; even though she's a toon, her natural looks and personality make her so much sexier than any current "heart throbs" today
I couldn’t agree more. Jessica has got to be the sexiest female character in the history of animation!
@@sadlobster1 she just like
Rita Hayworth
Laura Bacall
Marilyn Monroe
Katherine Hepburn
Jessica's one of my favorite hottest animated babes.
I like classical beauty and acting sultry more than what is considered “sexy” today.
“-what would I do if I didn’t have this movie?”
A whole lot, probably.
P.S. RIP Don Rickles. :(
🍰🎉 Happy 30th Anniversary, Who Framed Roger Rabbit! 🍰🎉
yeah
I just turned 30 today too! That’s right, folks- I was actually BORN right around the time this cinematic marvel was released!
And Who Framed Roger Rabbit will hit the 35th Anniversary mark in 2023.
I'm in 2020
@@kademarsee9496 Um...?
Marvel: Avengers Infinity War is the most ambitious crossover event in history.
Me:
My absolute favourite
This actually ruined space jam for me as a kid, and I’m happy it did.
One of my all time favorite films. And just in time for it's 30th anniversary.
This is easily the most unique disney-esque movie ever made! Good thing they never bothered to make an unnecessary franchise or too many sequels for this and made it stay a unique movie especially for it's time.
What I love about this movie is also the inclusion of 2d animation which sadly with the rise of CGI, is a dying art in the entertainment medium. This is a true masterpiece that I am very surprised was be able to happen with all the studios. This would be almost impossible in today’s world
The next classic review is Quest for Camelot
MegaSoulHero Oh no. 😳
That’s definitely getting the Seal of Garbage! Even the crew (particularly Lauren Faust) despised the movie.
Ugggggghhhh, at least next week will be entertaining
( sarcastic ) hooray
MegaSoulHero stop spooling the teasers!
Wow another Classic Review to have a full 10/10 score. I'm amazed at this.
Katie Mealey The first two perfect score classic reviews really close together. What are the odds?

Fun fact: Richard Williams voiced Droopy in this movie. Happy 30th anniversary Who Framed Roger Rabbit!
It still amazes me how this film manages to connect cartoon and real world, making the cartoon characters feel real. What a masterpiece.
This film has ALWAYS stuck with me. It came out when I was a toddler and I remember seeing it upon first release in the cinema. This film has (probably) been the catalyst for my heavy interest in animation and being an aspiring artist. I LOVE this film and my 4 year old daughter has watched it with me also.
They did a really good job with the animation and blending in to the real life actors like you said. It looks very good even today
Yea Micky and bugs together was cool but daffy and Donald's piano dual was the real show stealer

13:05-13:28 I feel sad that Tom and Jerry didn't appear in Who Framed Roger Rabbit. I would love to see them on the big screen.
Yeah and not like they were in Tom and Jerry: The Movie
I guess Popeye isn't the only one to struggle with movies post Golden Age era.
Sunspot Mill At least Tom and Jerry got movies (and everything between The Magic Ring and Shiver Me Whiskers was actually pretty decent). Popeye, on the other hand...
technically they weren't Warner Bros at that time... they were still Hanna Barbera. But on a plus note people can fangasm over Donald and Daffy Duck interacting and obviously the biggie of Mickey Mouse talking to Bugs Bunny... the latter still being voiced by the late great Mel Blanc at the time.
Gemnist Popeye had that one live action movie with Robin Williams. That's pretty much it.
(I personally thought it was okay at best.)
This was one of the last films to feature the legendary Mel Blance as Bugs bunny and the Loony toons.
Thank you for uploading your review of Who Framed Roger Rabbit since today marks it's 30th Anniversary!
alexis martinez I'm a bit upset that it delayed this review (seriously, we had to wait months for this), but it IS great timing
Happy 30th Anniversary, Who Framed Roger Rabbit!
A well deserved 10/10!
Clever Animat! You were waiting with the Review to the 30 anniversary of Roger Rabbit. And in the right date.
I feel silly now.
The wreck it Ralph of the 80s
Nice review 10/10
I love how MY CHILDHOOD movie had brought all of MY CHILDREN cartoons as a large amount of cameos. I capitalized “my childhood” because this movie brings me back to my childhood.
The CinemaSins guy said in the description of his video on this movie that it hasn't aged well. Heh, my ass!
ejl423 That’s because, unlike AniMat, they’re not professional film critics, they’re professional assholes.
#DownWithCinemaSins
ArbyTV 👏👏👏
ejl423 that was one of the elements that made me quit cinemasins and switch to cinemawins. Not only is he more positive and upbeat, but he's more focused on analyzing a film, while still being funny than he is on being negative for laughs. I'm waiting for cinemasinsins to do a video on that video, because I spotted quite a few sins. No movie's perfect, but this is still a great movie!
Kyle Morello Cinemasinsins? I never heard of this. I gotta check them out.
Kieran Stark That's what they claim, but I'm having trouble buying it.
Awesome review! Roger Rabbit is definitely the best films out there. My younger sister actually enjoys watching it; she actually gave it a chance after having ridden Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin at Disneyland.
As for the next film, oh boy Quest for Camelot. I feel that’s definitely getting the Seal of Garbage. The film was actually going to be aimed at older audiences, before turning it into “diet” Disney movie and failing at such. The crew even despised it, notably Lauren Faust.
I would've love to see what it could have been if it wasn't for the money-grubbers.
Happy 30th anniversary, Roger Rabbit! You really made me became a fan of animation.
I feel it's only appropriate that Ralph Bakshi's "Cool World (1992)" should be next for you to review. Paramount (the studio behind it) essentially wanted to capitalize on "Roger Rabbit's" success.
Kieran Stark Alright! Thanks.
Excellent review! I agree with everything vehemently! Also, lets not forget the smooth and slinky score by Alan Sylvestri. I mean his theme for Judge Doom runs a shiver down my spine every time.
This movie really is a masterpiece and deserves and all the hype and praise it gets.
Not going to hold back, but this is possibly my third favorite film of all time; right behind “León, the Professional” and “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.” There is just so much love and passion just flowing from this film. An Excellent love letter to animation, innovation, and the golden age of Hollywood in deed.
This is why the mid to late 80s were the start of the animation renaissance. You can tell that the animators really worked hard with the animation in here.
The most shocking thing about this movie is that bob hoskins also did the super Mario movie.
"DEN OUTTA DEN!!!!!"
Haitaka123 still, I think it would be better without that audio :/
I think this is the film all those hybrids try to be, and at the same time, it's the one they don't quite understand, from Space Jam to the most recent Tom and Jerry. It's a phenomenon, quite honestly; it's one of a kind despite not even being the first hybrid. The standout moment that really cements how interesting Eddie Valiant is was when he's in his office reflecting on his career with his late brother. You could really see how much it meant to him in his facial expressions, and beyond that, he's very silent. He doesn't monologue to himself like he's in a Shakespeare play unlike Roger right before that; it's subtlety at its finest. But even the moment I mentioned worked well because Roger doesn't say much, and what he does say is very natural, given how it looked like his friggin wife might have committed the 'toon equivalent of adultery. "Oh, Jessica, please tell me it's not true, please." The voice acting from Charles Fleischer was very well done, and it was just tough to hear him sobbing like that. It's on par with seeing an upset Goofy in Epic Mickey. Unlike in Woody Woodpecker, where none of the characters are relatable, you actually feel for the both of them in Roger Rabbit, a testament to just how complex they are. As I mentioned, this is hard to replicate even though some try; Back in Action, Cool World, Smurfs. But it is a phenomenon nothing will really ever be able to capture the magic of. And the reason for that is because it's the only time Donald and Daffy Duck will ever play a competitive piano duet together, the only time WB and Disney's mascots will skydive together. It's a combination of the legacies of Tex Avery, Walt Disney and Gary K. Wolf, and not the corporate capitalism kind of legacy, but an ambitious crossover that wouldn't officially be possible today.
You took the words right out of my mouth, then again this is my all time favorite film.

The movie itself: Movie Badge of Amazingness and a Certified Work of Art!!!!!
Finally! one of my all-time favorite movies! Happy 30th anniversary Who Framed Roger Rabbit
Great review, and is truly a phenomenal movie to this day! One thing I didn't hear mention of is that a lot of the character's had their attached voice actors as well. Betty Boop, Bugs and Daffy, etc. Sadly some of the last work they got to do, but what a legacy to leave on.
Well Quest for Camelot is next.. One thing to say.. JUST EXPPPLLLAAAIIINNN!!
Amadeusz Pyzel I knew you would say that.
JamesTheBrony/JTB (I wonder what explanation you expect?)
I guess you can probably thank me about that underrated wb animation film because it is one of the requests I sent him after ice age (probably), yogi bear, black cauldron, and even mr bug goes to town
Diegoraf Blasio Sheesh all I did is quote a NC line.
JamesTheBrony/JTB And if I were anyone of us ,we should talk the nostalgia critic into asking the filmmakers. They are responsible for making the film so why not make them explain everything?
Amelia Jones IDK.
I thought I was the only one who considered it one of the best movies ever
Happy 30th Anniversary, Roger Rabbit and Judge Doom!!!
Yes! I've waited so long for Animat to review Quest for Camelot. That'll be something to look forward to. And this video was splendid as well, of course.
You forgot one bit of the animation and it was the lighting and shading.
Laura Hutton An essential part of film noir, after all.
Laura Hutton The lighting and shading doesn't look good IMO, especially at the end.
Ahhhh yes, the classic “knock the lamp” lighting technique that was coined from this movie.
So happy to see you back to doing these again!
Glad you dropped the Review today, since it released today.
Still one of my all time favorite movies. I remember seeing the Toontown scene and the climax at a sitter’s house when I was a little kid, I was so confused (and creeped out) by it, but when I got older, I watched it all the way through and fell in love with it. I even read the book it was based on (yes it’s based on a book). It’s one of the greatest films ever made, don’t @ me.
I don’t know if it was mere coincidence or fantastic timing, but this was the perfect day to have a review of this film come out.
The fact I was born the same year this movie came out....
Man I’m old!
Kieran Stark I won’t turn the big 3-0 til November.
But even after 30 years I’ve still not watched this movie from start to finished ( only parts of it until I got bored)
I came up my own idea and concept of a live action and animation hybrid film. It is a crossover of hand drawn, computer and stop motion animated characters all together in one big movie. The story may take place where computer ruling n Hollywood but other forms like hand drawn and stop motion want to be on top of the game. A movie that will aimed to kids, teens, adults and families and everyone of all ages. I want my own animated live action film to be the next Who Framed Roger Rabbit film!
What do you think about Chip and Dale
I loved watching this movie so much as a kid!As a kid I always loved Roger but now its the toon patrol
The only problem with Roger Rabbit is that it never got a sequel. One of my favourite films of all time!
Who Framed Roger Robert is a bona fide masterpiece, and easily the best film from Bob Zimeckis besides Back to the Future.
I’m more than glad that AniMat’s finally gained the opportunity to review it!🙌🏽
My Rating
Story 10/10
Animation 10/10
Characters 10/10
Also how appropriate you released this review on the 30th anniversary of its release in 1988!
Great review, AniMat :) Happy 30th Anniversary, Who Framed Roger Rabbit! :D
Almost done with my Roger Rabbit costume for comic con this year. Fricken' love this movie!
I agree with you Animat. I highly recommend Who framed Roger Rabbit. It is not only my favorite movie. It should also be considered the holy grail to Toonfanatics. It is a movie that Toonfanatics must own.
Now that was a great present for the 30th anniversary of the film.
Love this movie.
That is the most iconic animation mix live-action in a long time
This is one of my all time favorite movies. Roger Rabbit is cinematic gold.
Also I can tell what the next review is. It’s probably going to end up in the ogre’s butt.
I knew he was gonna give it seal of approval

Kieran Stark why did you say 9.9 for Wall-e
This is my favorite Disney film of all time.
Perfect timing! And on the movie’s 30th anniversary too!
It's been AGES since the last time I watched this one! I remember I saw it on TV and I was too young and foolish to fully embrace it in all its glory. Silly me :P
I must definitely get to watching it again, now that I'm grown and have better tastes!
AniMat have you seen Kim Possible A Stitch In Time and Phineas and Ferb Across The Second Dimension?
Captain Imagination Mat should review TV show movies like Kim Possible: A Stitch In Tim, and the Cartoon Network movies. Also while not TV movies, he should also review Nickelodeon movies too.
Oh it's Quest for Camelot is next
One of my favorite movies, and villain.
Time to give more praise to this absolute gem of filmmaking.
Did you know that this movie was loosely based on a novel called "Who Censored Roger Rabbit?"
EricStelzman I thank the Dom for educating me on that.
And also this movie showed my sense of humor of animation.
After the mention of Fleischer Studios, I'm just wishing you might do an Animation Lookback on the Fleischers/Famous Studios.
OMG YES AND OTHER ANIMATION STUDIOS .
My second favourite film of all time. I love it that much.
13:44 I love your Mr. Krabs impression
This would be a great idea for a Roger Rabbit sequel (if there ever will be)
Toontown over time has adapted to the new age and has hand-drawn, computer animated and stop-motion characters co-existing with each other.
But a bigger threat faces Toontown, worse than Judge Doom. A CGI-animated mad man who wants to eradicate 2D animation because it is ‘old-fashioned’ and ‘outdated’. That is when Roger teams up with a relative of Eddie Valiant (Son? Nephew?) and several familiar toons to save the cartoon world.
As soon as he pulled out the card and I started hearing the music, I knew which movie it was. I'm curious to see how the review for "Quest for Camelot" goes.
This film is my addiction.
I love how Jessica Rabbit has a pistol in the thumbnail.
This will always be my favorite movie of all time.
Usually when I check Animat’s classic reviews, I skip to the rating Animat gives to the movie and then I check at the end of the video to see what the next classic review will be.
This movie kicked off the Disney Renaissance era.
I got to visit three filming locations from this movie including,
RED Studios Hollywood (Maroon Cartoon Studios)
Glendale-Hyperion Bridge (ending point of the Benny the Cab chase)
Observatory tunnel (entrance to Toontown)
I love this film. When I was younger the final act used to terrify me.
Great movie, but I can't say it's perfect. The rendering of the animated characters at the end doesn't look great and I feel like the villain's minions didn't add much. It's still a great film that honors the Golden Age of animation, but IMO it's not perfection. Anyway, next is Quest for Camelot and oh dear I have heard so unfortunate things about it including the troubled development. Good luck AniMat with that film!
I just saw this today! Happy 30th!
I love this movie so much that it inspired my Disney fanfiction series.
yesss my favorite animated/liveaction movie of all time hollywood plz take notes
Well, I can already tell from the song playing during the hint that it's Quest for Camelot.
God Finally!! I adore this movie so much
Can't believe they got the actual Mario Mario to be in this movie so cool
Who else knew this would get that seal of approval?
