Why do stay at home moms look down on moms who want to balance work and family? It's okay for moms to have ambitions and dreams outside the home.

Like there are whole worlds between those two extremes 😂 You can have sex with someone who loves you who you don’t end up marrying, you can have casual sex with someone who isn’t your One And Only but cares about your pleasure as much as their own. As long as everything is consensual and everyone is having their needs met, I don’t see the problem. There are plenty of married men who don’t care about their wive’s pleasure, and I’ve had sex with people who weren’t my partner and we weren’t in love but genuinely cared for my pleasure and comfort.

And speaking as someone who spent 20 years sleeping around and having relationships for A few years, all that breaking up and first dates and time invested in people just for it to end, it wears on you psychologically. I see it with everyone my age whose still single. I’m married today and I wish I’d met my wife 20 years ago. I think rather than just "telling women they can do it" when it come to parenting, if we really want to decrease abortion we need to do more than "tell" women what they can do, we need to actually support them - monetary support, medical care, maternity leave, comprehensive sex education, universal child care.

One of my grandmothers was a SAHM who did the household and also built a small business selling her crops (literally lol).
In the very rural community, that actually was the maximum privilege for her: She didn't have to work in the fields, forests, lakes, and only did light work in the stable and if her husband complained about her not doing what all the other farmer women did (!) she reminded him about the fat dowry her family gave them.
My other grandmother did all the work including the stable and fields, as did my grandfather who helped with childcare.
They were not privileged in that society, and it only goes back two generations. The whole tradwife movement is an aesthetic which is not interested in past gender roles as they were.

    1. What is empowering…is being able to CHOOSE the lifestyle you want. Criticizing someone for having sex outside of marriage is just as ridiculous as criticizing someone who voluntarily immersed themselves in religious purity culture.
    2. Childbirth has a maternal mortality rate 14x higher than abortion, teen pregnancy has a 50%school dropout rate, and forcing single women to become mothers puts them at high risk for poverty, and their children for criminality & lower academic performance. By every metric, forcing women to give birth makes everyone (women, children, taxpayers) worse off.
    3. If the most you can offer the world is your children, then motherhood IS fulfilling your potential. If you could cure cancer, but instead choose to engage in a job that literally any female placental mammal could do…then yes, it is a waste of your talent. (But you should still be free to choose it.)
    4. Fat shaming people has been shown to increase depression and isolation, which usually results in increased weight gain. As for clothes, some women will feel empowered by covering up, others…by revealing themselves. Empowerment truly comes from the CHOICE.
    5. An independent woman will not find herself trapped in a bad relationship just because she is dependent on her partner. There is a reason so many patriarchal cultures keep women out of school & the workforce, and marry them off so young. Dependence means they can be controlled.

I've watched the entire video, and I have a few things to say:
    1. I'm not a fan of sleeping around and would never do it, but I don't look down on others who do. Sleeping around might not be empowering for you or women you know, but sometimes sex is just sex and has nothing to empowerment. Some people just seek out sex for pleasure and not for intimacy. Also, I agree that sex with someone who loves you would be ideal, however, you are making the assumption that every woman wants a husband or children. Not every woman wants a lifelong partner or dependent children. Some women, whether or not they engage in casual sex, don't want these things, and you should stop assuming they do.
    2. You always say "women" instead of "some women". Not every woman is the same, but often, your videos are filled with generalizations about women and what they want. SOME women want a husband. SOME women want children. Generalizing an entire gender is regressive and makes it look like all women are a monolith.
    3. You often fail to elaborate on your points and shut down other perspectives by calling the other opinion "stupid" or saying that it "makes you angry". By saying this, not only do you make it sound like you are unwilling to see another viewpoint, but you also sound authoritative. Your opinion is your opinion, not fact. Your opinion is not the correct way to live. Your opinion isn't better or truer than anyone else's opinion. You are entitled to how you feel, but don't act like what you think is the absolute truth.
    4. For those who disagree with you, do you think insulting their perspective will make them agree with you? How can you expect someone to see your point of view if you're being condescending, waving their opinions off, and making mocking gestures and movements?
    5. I have never considered myself an overt feminist, and I can't believe I'm saying this, but women will make their own choices, regardless of what you think or how judgemental you are. If a woman chooses to dress a certain way, that is her choice. If she chooses to marry, that is her choice. If she chooses to focus on her career, that is her choice as well. I'm generally conservative about many things, but I accept that women will do what they want regardless of how I feel. I might want a husband and kids, but not every woman will pursue that goal, and that's their choice. Just let people live the way they want to.

Not one thought to the women who perhaps don't have what it takes to mother a child with special needs, or is unwilling to submit another human being to a life of being disabled, blind, etc. I also noticed there don't seem to be any victims of rape or incest in her little bubble either. I have a few things to say…
    1. Firstly, QUIT GENERALIZING ALL WOMENS!! Not all women want to get married and settle down. Some don’t even believe in marriage and consider it to just be a piece of paper. Also there’s nothing wrong with having sex for just the pleasure of it not just to get pregnant. I personally have had sex for pleasure and hookups and all that and I do enjoy it, although I do like it in a relationship as well. And what about those who get married more than once or divorced?
    2. Just gonna say straight up, I’m 100% pro choice. Women’s body, women’s choice all the way. You don’t have the right to judge or tell me what I can and can’t do with my body. I’m so tired of hearing the same bull from prolifers saying abortion is murdering babies. There’s many reason why women get abortions, not just cuz of careers. What about incest, rape, or health issues that can cause you to die. Screw that.
    3. QUIT GENERALIZING ALL WOMEN. Not all women are the same. Not all women want to be stay at home mothers. I sure as hell don’t want to be. You can be conservative and still be a working career women. What is so wrong with being a mother and wanting to have a career? I have nothing against being a SAHM. My mother was a SAHM for my whole childhood up till I graduated high school when we decided to start working again.
    4. Not all women want to be modest. I’m personally not modest at all and refuse to be. I shouldn’t have to cover up cuz of men or whoever. I respect my body, but I shouldn’t have to dress in a way to prove I do when I already do. Also just cuz a women is bigger doesn’t mean she’s not healthy. There’s many reasons for women being bigger.
    5. Not all women find happiness from marriage or just men in general. What about the LGBT? Can’t assume all women want a man in their life. It’s not stupid that some women don’t feel like they need a man in their life and just choose to no want a man and want to be on their own and have freedom. Men tend to be worse for you than anything else especially the abusive ones. What about abusive ones? You never once said anything about abusive toxic relationships with men

....What's more empowering is having the ability to control whether or not I STAY pregnant if I don't want to be. And what's more attractive to me is a person who, if I DID get pregnant, would support my choice to abort it(aka. remove the life that is feeding off my body against my will), because I would rather die than bear a child. To me, it's more empowering to have hookups, because I have a way to enjoy myself with someone else who also just wants to have fun. Give me a world where women can just get their tubes tied at 18, and not get push-back about it at the doctor's office for some hypothetical man she might supposedly end up with. That's empowering. Women choosing what they want to do with their lives is empowering, not being told what their life should be...you know...like what you're doing.
And to be clear, I'm ABSOLUTELY saying that, if a woman WANTS kids, and a monogamous lifestyle, she should be able to have that too. But to tell women the only empowering way to live is by following some nonsense 'status quo' is, itself, DISEMPOWERING! That's what the Left is trying to communicate. We aren't saying that women can 'only be empowered by sleeping with anyone who wants you'. That's EQUALLY as gross and wrong. You are just as bad as the nonexistent hypothetical Leftists you are preaching against. ALL the Left really wants is for women to be free and empowered to live the life THEY WANT, and not all women want to be monogamous, married, and pregnant. Conversely, we know not all women want to be polyamorous, unmarried, and childfree. The issue is you disempower women by trying to claim that women can ONLY be happy in this one, minuscule box you find joy in yourself...and that's not okay.
In regards to 'fulfilling your potential', as you put it...No, we ALSO don't think women can't do that unless they get big careers outside the home. The problem is, thanks to capitalism, most women HAVE to, or there will be no home to live in. The Right, and its obsession with capitalism is the problem here. And, of course, we on the Left believe a woman should be able to do WHATEVER she wants with her life. This means she should be free to be a stay-home mom if she wants, or she can work for NASA or become a leading surgeon if she wants...or anything in between. ALL the Left wants is for people to pursue the life they want most. Period. Nothing more, nothing less. But currently, women CAN'T be stay-home moms unless they happen to marry one of the 1%, and have everything afforded by their partner's parents and whatever job their spouse has that grants them the massive amount of money required to live at all comfortably these days. So, like it or not, the very system YOUR SIDE supports is the main reason women almost NEVER have the option to BE stay-at-home mothers...You can't have it both ways, Abby...Fight for a system that lets people live at least relatively comfortably, regardless of work, or support capitalism, which makes it nigh IMPOSSIBLE to do that, unless you won the birth lotto, and ended up raised by filthy-rich parents.

Also Most films geared towards women are pretty obvious about the fact that the women is either going to get her happily ever after in a family or with the boy she falls in love with, even if she doesn’t end up with that boy at the end she’s eventually gonna find someone he just was not the one. It usually isn’t about women being the girl boss it’s understanding that you don’t have to be in a relationship all the time to be happy you also need to learn to be your self too and you don’t necessarily need to be in a relationship to make some thing of yourself but that doesn’t mean that you need to be alone either you can be both you can be happy with someone and have the baby/ happy ever after and be a strong independent woman

It is up to the individual woman to decide what is and is not empowering to herself. Imagine four women.
One women is asexual and aromantic, she never has sex or gets into a relationship.
One woman is aromantic, but not asexual, she has casual sex regularly.
One woman is a fan of getting into a committed monogamous relationship. However, she does not desire to have children.
One woman wants to be a wife and a mother.
These four women all know what lifestyle is best for themselves, because it is their lives.

It isn't really for you to decide what is and what isn't empowering for other women. I've had good experiences where random one night stands and threesomes and have been super fun. Saying it is "wrong" and "stupid" is just really judgemental. If you find sex to be an extremely emotional thing then perhaps casual relations aren't for you but lets not shame those who do. I will say that sex with one person with a longer period of time does feel better, but that generally because the longer you a with a partner the more they get to know your body and what they like. Also I had an abortion and hands down was one of the best decision of my life. Waking up to huge sickness and vomiting everyday just wasn't making me happy. Having my abortion made me happy. I guess it is all about choice at the end of the day. If you choose to be at home as a house wife or if you choose to be successful in your career - what matters the most is if you are happy in life.

If we take two women, say one 300 pounds overweight and one normal weight, everyone can see that the former is overweight REGARDLESS of what she is or isn't wearing. By saying we shouldn't tell women they should love their bodies if they're overweight, or don't exercise enough, or don't eat right (people often disagree about what the best foods to eat even are!l) she's really just shaming women, and indicating her own fatphobia as well.

    1. Who is the left? An entity? An organization? Just wondering. 2. I have literally NEVER heard anyone say that people should go out and have sex with lots of people. Ever. I HAVE heard that we should stop shaming people for their sex lives, which seems perfectly reasonable, but I don't hear people encouraging others to have lots of sex. 3. I have also literally never heard anyone tell someone else to have an abortion. That is such a stupid argument. 4. The way you talk about abortion makes it very clear that you are either purposefully spreading misinformation or you yourself are uneducated. An ectopic pregnancy is deadly to the mother if an abortion is not performed. An incomplete miscarriage is deadly to the mother if an abortion is not performed. You don't have to like abortion, but if you cannot accept that abortion is a medical procedure that saves lives, then you need to check yourself. Women who very much want children need abortions every single day to save their own lives. 5. Show me someone who ever said that women are not fulfilling their potential by staying home and raising children. That is a ridiculous idea and one I doubt is ever said by a serious person. No one thinks women should all go to work, but rather that women should be allowed to do what they want to do. Saying that women have a purpose of raising children is so stupid. If that were the case, we would say that infertile women are worthless. Raising children is incredibly meaningful, but it isn't an interest for everyone. Wtf is wrong with that? 6. Why not encourage women to be independent. Marriage doesn't work out for a ton of people. I would argue that being independent and alone is better than being in a decade-long relationship with a man that brutally beats their wife or sexually assaults them or emotionally abuses them. I'm not saying that men all behave this way, but I am saying that valuing marriage above all else can be problematic in many many ways. I would like to be married, but I am not going to settle for someone that treats me like garbage or that doesn't share my values, and I think me being independent is better than crossing my own boundaries just for the sake of being married.
Last of all, you are allowed to live your life however you want and other people should too, that doesn't make others' way of life wrong as you seem to constantly imply.

@@Yesica1993 saying "the left" as if it is one thing doesn't make any sense. Political ideology exists on a spectrum and even the left side of the spectrum includes an extremely broad range of opinions and beliefs. I am aware of many celebrities in Hollywood, news outlets, educators, and influencers (Classically Abby included) who would likely not categorize themselves as having "leftists" views, so I am not sure how you can say those are "the left" that you disagree with without being hypocritical in some way.
The portrayal of sex lives of any kind does not mean it is being encouraged. True crime shows have a cult following, does that mean those shows are encouraging crime? Or does it mean they are just portraying something that exists? When it comes to defining what sorts of sexual behavior is "shameful", I'm not sure who we turn to for the guidebook because it would seem that no one can agree. Many religions have differing opinions and not everyone follows a religion. Therefore, just because someone does not like how someone else behaves in their sex life, does not mean that that sexual behavior is morally wrong nor should either person have any authority on the matter.
I am not surprised to see that you did not bother to read the rest of my text wall because, I too, know that having to read something long and/or covering an opinion that differs from your own may open the door for you to learn something, and damn that would be scary.
