- A group of Latina teenagers, with the help of the nonprofit DIY Girls, designed a solar-powered, water-resistant, portable tent to serve the homeless population in their community.
DIY (“Do-It-Yourself”) Girls’ mission is to increase girls’ interest and success in technology, engineering and making through innovative educational experiences and mentor relationships. We're a supportive community for girls driven by an interest in creating and building with technology.

This is a great idea! I know a lot of people would love to solve the problem of homelessness altogether (of course we would...who wouldn't?) but sometimes the immediate problem of safe shelter is so much more urgent.
Maybe if they set up a model of selling the tents for campers, festival goers, people who camp out for sales, etc., but then for every tent bought another one goes directly to a homeless person, their whole business could become self-funded. Like those shoe or sock companies that do the same thing. I'd pay extra for a tent if I knew it also meant helping someone else!

Great jobs girl for creation/innovation to solve real problems. We need more. Hopefully it works well during wet and cold weather.
I guess 'boys are out' of this club but I still like diy lol.
We also need to change schools the way we teach or force kids to learn may useless and boring. It should be more fun, practical, innovative, creative, and flexibility with less stress and structure.
School should promote social and other entrepreneurs or other areas that promote sustainability, individual freedom, DIY, street smart, finance, growing food, critical thinking, actions, building self esteem, building things, social contribution, and more instead of produce robotic workers.
Now we need to kick out corrupted 2-party politicians and corporations that steal our money to bailout their rich buddies with every possible time and excuses to exploit the 99%.

What happend to the dispay case with 1930s lionel trains in the museum the last time i was there i couldn't find it as i wanted to see the condition ofbthe trains to see if mine are reproductions or not
