My dad is the opposite of Sarah’s. In complete denial about anything sad or disastrous. To my sister as she was being wheeled in for a double mastectomy: “it’s not so bad, you’ll be fine.” To me after my house was destroyed in a hurricane, “no problem, it’ll all work itself out.” And I guess it did...3 years and $200k later.

I love this retelling of your first set, I’ve seen you on television telling this story and laughed out loud because I know it to be true, after my mum stayed with me for a couple weeks while my husband was away at sea. She bought 2 of my sisters with her, and under my OWN roof we had many of the same conversations, especially the “tell her mam” which I said at least 3 times a day. ..... You and Gary stay safe

A good swearing session, and generally hurling abuse at inanimate objects is very cathartic 😁 I have someone in my family who is amazing at pointing out the bleeding obvious, as though empathy totally flew over their head instead... well, thanks, I'm glad I finally know why I'm so upset now, because until you pointed it out to me I had no idea that's what the snots was all about. Enjoyed our get together again today. I did the move back into my parents twice (twice divorced - different husbands, both called Paul!). Third time lucky for me. Married to Mike 10 years now but will have to see if he survives the12 weeks shielding with me haha!!

Don't know if this will convey the emotion when it happened...but it goes along the "but they are lined"....I was scheduled to have surgery, to have my big toe on my right foot removed. (infection from a pedicure...that is a differnt story). I explained to my hubby I would need him to plan to stay home for a few days, as I would not be very mobile. He checked his calendar. he races dirt bikes (motor cycles) for fun. There was a race that weekend. When he whined about the race, I looked at him and said "I told you, I would need you to be here. I support your racing for the last 15 years, I need a few days". His reply "But it's a national", meaning a national race. That is now my boss's favorite line...."but it's a national".... end result, he went to the blankety race, and i had a friend stay with me. and yes, we're still married. lots of love, pet. you make me smile every day.
