Are you really good at playing by ear, but have trouble reading music? We've got an easy, 3 step process that will help you learn the piece you're working on!
I have two girls of 7 and 9 years old who are starting with the violin, do not speak English but understand them very well for their cheerful way of being. I would love them to continue with classes like Happy Birthday was excellent for them. Thank you so much!
I am a bit at a loss here. This advice feels like backwards or something. I play several instruments. I have decades of practice under my belt. I can sight read no problem. I do it every day. Could I so much as follow step one of this "easy" advice? Never in a thousand years. How am I supposed to be "1. singing the note"? I don't have perfect pitch. Like, come on, peeps, nobody does. And those who do, don't need any advice on sight reading to begin with. If you can look at a note on a page and just sing it, then you don't need any training in sight reading. You already are sight reading. You've already sight read at that point. And if you can't look at a note and sing it, I'm not sure how saying "1. sing it" is supposed to be easy. It is the exact opposite of easy. It is impossible. And cannot be trained. Feels like some sort of April prank to me but I checked the date and it says August.
We can definitely try to make another video about how to sing and find the pitch. None of our videos are perfect and there are different ways to learn things. We just try to help as much as we can! However, thanks for your comment and we can try to work on some ways to teach sight reading in different ways.
Step 2 and 3 are no problem. But I can't sing out notes. I can name them and find them on the fingerboard or on the piano but I cannot pluck their sound out of my brain. If I could, I could just play it out. Geez. Oh I know solfege, I can do the Do ti la anytime. But I need to hear the do. So could you guys do a video on how to learn to sing the notes out of nothing?
Your videos are really great! They're helpful and short at the same time.
