I put 8 led shop lights in my garage & originally had them all chained together to turn on with 1 switch. It was nice for a while but went back to individually turning them on because I found that at times I liked how shadows helped me judge some surfaces.
I put these same ones in a few months back. I also used the pipe bracket and love them. Here’s a tip…All LED emit a frequency. I think The nicer ones block the frequency before they leave the light fixture. Since these are cheaper they do not block the frequency. If you have all the lights on and try to use your wireless garage door opener from your car or the keypad outside it can block that frequency and the motor will not respond. I left my garage lights on once and my wife couldn’t get into the house because she left her keys on the counter while she went on a walk, and I wasn’t home😂. The hardwired button in the garage or the Wi-Fi will work though since it’s hard wired. This was a fun troubleshooting to figure out what was going on. To fix it you can extend the antenna wire out the garage door with some speaker wire.
Omni-Ray lighting sells LED’s that are labeled “No RF”. I’m am thrilled at how well they light. I bought a case for a brand new shop and the price rivals the cheap ones from Amazon.
Just got my lights installed and...FANTASTIC!!! Thanks so much for this advice! I did order the pipe straps, but as they haven't come in and the lights have come in, I used the clips that came with the lights and they worked fine. I was going to use a smart socket, as I have used those in the past, but just went with a light socket plug thingy and now all the lights work off the garage overhead light switch. Again, many thanks!!!
Thanks for your video. I ended up buying these lights myself and they made a huge difference. I kept 2 in reserve for over my workbench once I get it built.
I have that exact same system in my shop, but the lights are 4 ft long, and I love them! Very bright and can be installed in any configuration you need.
Thanks Matt, I was about to buy the 6 pack from your older light upgrade and just saw these. Thanks for the info and demo. I used your link and look forward to the upgrade!
I caught the HF LED lights on sale a couple of years ago. they were $15.99 each, put 10 in a divided 2 bay shop . so bright, lights up the yard thru the cracks in the wall!!
Hey Matt, I followed your old video for lights in my shop and they work great. One thing I did and you can do here is get a "Smart Switch" and replace the current switch you are using to turn on half of the lights. Once you do that you can then sync the smart plug to the smart switch and all of the lights can work off of that switch or from Alexa.
Loving the LED shop lights that are out these days. Found some motion sensing shop lights at HF for almost half the price of the ones HD was selling, and the HF lights are brighter. 3 years, no issues...just lots of light
Definitely. I put 8 of these 8’ strips up. Removed my old wall-switch controlled fluorescent tube fixture and replaced it with a gfci outlet that’s controlled by the wall switch. Plugged 2 of the leads for these led strips into that outlet. But I didn’t want all 300 million lumens every time i hit the switch so I used the included toggle switches attached to ceiling to create a few different zones. Screwed a big superball onto the end of a stick and now I can flip the switch and turn 1 strip on for the standard garage visit. But if I’m working on things I can reach up with the stick to turn 3 more, or up to 7 more, strips on. Now I can read my tape ha.
I was going to Install a bunch of LED lights in my garage when I get home. I am glad you liked these. I will order these, your Amazon link didn't open the Amazon app. It's hard for me to spend money on something when you are not sure of the quality for the money. Thanks for the video!
I replaced the 8' T-12 HO tubes and went form a 30 amp load to a 10 amp load with 3 times the light! The only downfall to LED's is FM radio are out and some overhead door openers don't work.
So yeah, I bought the 6 you recommended last time. They work great! But now I can tell I have some places that are lacking. So like you, I need to upgrade to these. And then, like you, I'll be using the original 6 in specific task areas. Thanks for the review!
I hate to be the wet blanket.....but update this in about a year and change. I bought a 10 pack, and now I'm down to 3 working ones. Once you see individual LEDs going out it's just a matter of time till the driver itself craps the bed. Barrina's warranty is annoying since they want you to disassemble the light and mail them the LED driver. It's honestly easier to just order a new set off Amazon and return them to swap out the dead ones.
@@731Woodworks yeah they worked great.....until they didn't. That being said, I'm not chomping at the bit for a replacement set. They are functional for my needs. I have relatively low ceilings in my garage so it's not a huge pain to change them out.
Yes, we have these in our garage and in about a 2 weeks we had 3 go out. This is the second set in about 2 years where they start to go out, one after the other. I just got a UFO style light and that thing is bright! So far, it's working great.
@@731Woodworks if yours start to crap out you should do a follow-up vid. I bought mine because of many favorable YT reviews. Never saw any negative followups.
I ordered the 4ft pack.... 1st and foremost GREATEST UPGRADE EVER! 2nd... I shoulda got the 8 ft like u said lol. Thanks for your reviews, they are very influential. 👊
I have these in my garage shop also and they are great. One problem I found is that if you have a garage door opener the led interferes with the remote and will not work when the lights are on.
Seems like the older I get I can’t ever have too much light in the shop..lol just curious if the lights stated the wattage is per light? I replaced some in our garage that had the old screw in bulbs 100w with some screw in LED ended up with twice the light and about half the wattage draw.
How’d you solve/prevent the bulbs from interfering with the garage door? I installed them into my garage and been having problems with my garage door opening.
I have the same lights and could not agree with you more about the included clips, absolute junk. Love the light they give off. I have 8 to in my 12X16 shop
Hey there, I watch all your videos. I want to get a CNC machine, however having a challenge where to start. I'm currently looking at the Onefinity and the Carbide3d. Which model Carbide3d do you use?
I've only had them for just over a month but so far so good. A friend of mine has similar ones (same name brand) and had issues with them flickering and going out. He reached out to the maker and they sent him 10 lights, no questions asked.
Just wondering Matt, after 2 years are these lights still working good? Are you still happy with them? I’m looking for new lights for my shop. Thanks 👊
Yes, no issues at all with the lights. They are on almost every single day. I had one switch go out a couple months ago, but had a few extras from the install, and easily unplug old, plug new one in and was back to work.
