I love the music they've made over the years, from ATDI to TMV etc....Truth is, i loved their spiritually darker material and miss that. Still looking forward to anything they out out.
Shit is so dark, I almost don’t know how to feel about it haha. But for my money the whole 1998-2003 period is just so interesting. From ATDI to TMV and the De Facto transition/overlap w both bands. Very cool stuff. Pretty dark, total voodoo shit, kind of hellish.
People need to get over his hair. If you're so worried about it you'll be glad to know he's since grown the fro back already. This interview was in late July. When I saw him in October he had it grown back already
@ props thank you! I've been a fan since atdi but after Frances the mute the mars volta went down hill..am I the only one who noticed that Cedric didn't give a damn about how he sang anymore?
If there's one thing I've learned over the years from listening to music, it's not about what you look like if you're good at what you do fuck it. You can look like shit for all I care & still play/sing better than most of those of those other artist who's careers revolve more around they way they look over actual talent, Cedric is still fucking Cedric. The fro will be missed, but we'll all live get over it.
Pop? Yeah I hear pop in the vocals, which is nice bc the words need to be catchy...but as far as the instrumentals go(the most important part of any band) it's straight up progressive/psychedelic/new wave rock!! Omar is the man!!!
If you compare the way Cedric (and also Omar) are in interviews now to when they first put Mars Volta together, I think they seem way more happy to be interviewed and more down to earth. And what he says here about him considering "less is more", well the obvious conclusion to that would indeed be to resurrect at the drive-in - oh wait, they just have!
@jayslobb793 I tried to suggest that Frusciante is an important solo act and person, whether or not you like the chilis, and I happen not to. (not exactly a "fan of John Frusciante [that] doesn't know anything else [and is] just a chili peppers fan" ). Given that together they have been on multiple albums and tours and shows (and almost an Omar movie), it seems strange that he get's offended at any suggestion of a relationship. But what can you, he probably he gets asked that all the time.
@ThePoopcash Accessible music is inherently better? What? Ohhhkay bro. Also, I'm not one to go around calling people racist all the time, but I'm quite curious to know what exactly your issue with Spanish is. ATDI was awesome, but TMV shouldn't have to be compared to that. Different bands, different styles, different people, etc
@FritzThistle But...... Bieber has it years before Cedric got it. I dont even think that little brat has it anymore, which means it's been totally played out, and Cedric is late to the game. What do you expect though, he lives in LA now. Turning all trendy.
trust me cedric, you are not the pop of the future. I used to have respect for all of these acts, and I do love atdi, and deloused. But sad to say, the mars volta have lost their magic. repetition of weird noises does not a good band make.
@ThePoopcash Seriously? C'MON!!! ATDI it isnt even the shadow of what TMV, At The Drive In was such a silly emo band compared to the actual work of Omar, and if you dont like the spanish you shouldnt heard a band half-latin! VIVA MEXICO CABRONES!!!
@antibalas79 ...Yeaaa... MTV is basically for sellouts and mediocre, mainstream, boring, meaningless music. I think any good band, like Volta, appearing on MTV is a step down.
I was today years old when I learned they recorded (some of?) Frances in Australia... one of the GOATs
Watching this interview after watching some older interviews of him, I cant help but think he's... clean now. It's kind of refreshing...
He's actually really nice and humble in person.
I am now convinced that his hair is satire.
Cedric Bixler Zavala hablando de Astor Piazzola es algo increíble.
R.I.P. The Mars Volta.
They had a great run while it lasted.
They coming back ;)
@@Gypsyblood777 aaaan their back
@@christopherlopez2491 hell ya wish I could go
he is just a great artist :)
Cedric is well spoken. An important superstar trait
I love the music they've made over the years, from ATDI to TMV etc....Truth is, i loved their spiritually darker material and miss that. Still looking forward to anything they out out.

Cedric is now a member of ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead.
And now they're more pop than ever
When Cedric's interviewed on HIS OWN he seems much less.... um.... Arrogant.
the cedric emo phase we all wished for...
the heart and spine are still there
People need to get over his hair. If you're so worried about it you'll be glad to know he's since grown the fro back already. This interview was in late July. When I saw him in October he had it grown back already
Thanks for blowing my speakers!
The Shape of Pop to Come.
"last night I got a hair cut, from beibers barber" - sing to int, ESP hahah love cedric
just browsing the youtubes seeing Mr. Mancin likes The Mars Volta. Today is a good day!
I hope you are the future of pop.
@ props thank you! I've been a fan since atdi but after Frances the mute the mars volta went down hill..am I the only one who noticed that Cedric didn't give a damn about how he sang anymore?
He's right, I discovered a whole world of music thanks to John Frusciante.
i discovered 80% of what I know from that guy
If there's one thing I've learned over the years from listening to music, it's not about what you look like if you're good at what you do fuck it. a legend

MEXICO!! WHOO
@lisa67iz he means that the structure of his song are the same as pop songs, but theirs are just longer.
@tenebra Well said.
Te amo Omar
Clearly he now uses straighteners!
@ThePoopcash you should be happy at the drive-in has stopped their hiatus. they are playing coachella next month.
MEXICO, italy, ... and australia ¡VIVA MEXICO TMV!
I wounder if they could have found a bigger mic down under?
he did.
they played all the new stuff live and it is great... and yes he had the hairstyle then too.... def not a reflection of the music
that's a big-ass microphone
@trenken normally i hate comments like the one i am about to make, but Justin Bieber has a Cedric Blixer Zavala doo.
@jayslobb793 I tried to suggest that Frusciante is an important solo act and person, whether or not you like the chilis, and I happen not to. Bad Seeds FTW!
Murder City Devils shirt. Nice.
@lisa67iz I guess he tried to say that their music is for everyone
I sorta dislike how this is coming from MTV as I'm a die-hard Volta fan.
What does he mean when he says he considers his music to be pop? i dont get it
wtf...what MTV thing is this from? Why is there now pregnant chicks?
@MrAmputechture Holy fuck I actually thought deeply about this a couple nights ago before sleeping
Aw, a clip of Jon at 1:26. Too soon, MTV.
@AntiCitizenJuan 2 beasts from the same creators man, they both rule!
@Luciizza I think he brought it back... I think that 2012 Cedric is the real Cedric... haha
@AntiCitizenJuan Then you should know that At the Drive-In are getting back together with all the original members.
I had it on mute cuz I was doing stuff:)
Or is it Isac Brock?
dude have not seen him with short hair since at the drive in
@ThePoopcash Accessible music is inherently better? What? Ohhhkay bro.
Also, I'm not one to go around calling people racist all the time, but I'm quite curious to know what exactly your issue with Spanish is.
ATDI was awesome, but TMV shouldn't have to be compared to that. Different bands, different styles, different people, etc
@Themrantonon18 He cut his hair to ready for the return of ATDI
oh what a tangled web he weaves...HA!
@Luciizza I almost didn't recognize him :/
Jaerd Leto??
I don't like his new haircut D:
@FritzThistle But...... Bieber has it years before Cedric got it. I dont even think that little brat has it anymore, which means it's been totally played out, and Cedric is late to the game. What do you expect though, he lives in LA now. Turning all trendy.

they've been making appearances on mtv for years. get over it, who cares.
I miss his big ass puff of hair... :(
Not feeling the new hair, I really hope this isn't a reflection of their new album.
Hahahaha, yeah i do. ^^ Hi five brah...
@WhatsReallyGoingOn84 Unless it's satire in that case it's funny on a Tim and Eric level:)
What the hell happened with his hair?
why pop?
poor cedric's been brainwashed by scientology :(
@pinkpop91764 ?
Chili Peppers 4 life.
@musicdreamlover What did he say? Just curious. He does seem like he can be quite a doucher.

Cedric looks like he could use some sleep.

"The album will probably come out in January"
Wish that was true, but Warner Brothers FUCKING SUCKS.

@tourettes84 why do you say that?....jw.
@antibalas79 ...Yeaaa... MTV is basically for sellouts and mediocre, mainstream, boring, meaningless music. I think any good band, like Volta, appearing on MTV is a step down.
