Thans for the demo of how to adjust the width of the spray pattern, but how do you set the direction of the spray pattern. I have something similar next to a wall, and I need to alter the direction of spray.
Well explained. So easy. Well done
Where would I obtain the tool that holds the spray full extended in order control the distance of spray ?
My new 15a only goes out one foot with a 360 deg radius. Your customer service only offered this video. I can get the screw to turn with out risk of stripping? Help plz!
Well this just saved me from getting soaking wet in the next week or so when I have the courage to change mine out! Thanks in advance!!
Thank you as a (dreaded) DIYer/homeowner/business owner I appreciate this video very much. I didn't want to putz around with it and have it fall apart. Mucho Gracias!
So at a 6ft increment, is it better to turn up a 4ft nozzle head, or turn down a 8ft nozzle head? Thanks
Thanks for the video. Simple to follow except I cannot adjust the spray distance using a screw driver. I have taken it back to Home Depot for them to try and have had friends try to do it but nobody seems to be able to turn that screw. Is there something I am missing - maybe a trick to turn the screw!
I have a obritz Pro 8 A and the flat head screw does not seem to want to turn. Any ideas?
What does the Philips screw head that is underneath the nozzle do? I know the top one adjusts the throw of the water for instance I have an orbit pro 12A. So turning the center flat head screw will get me or lose me some feet. But I don't know what the Phillips head screw underneath it does.
Hi - I have a big question. I just replaced my older sprinkler heads with Pro 12-A. However on three of of the 5 sprinkler heads, I am getting continuous seepage. Can you assist please? I'm at my wits end. Thanks.
I am getting brown spots, within 2' of the front of my orbit sprinkler head. I opened a can of tuna, ate the tuna, and placed the empty can in various places around the sprinkler. After running the sprinkler for 8 minutes, I was seeing in the brown areas that the water was about 1/4" deep in the can after the 8 minutes, but in the green areas the water in the tuna can was nearly at the top. Are there better quality adjustable sprinkler nozzles that will have more uniform distribution of water? In other areas of my lawn, I use the Orbit double distance brass heads which are not adjustable, and see no problem at all. Using the tuna measurement, the water distribution around those heads is much more even.
Our twin spray nozzles can help on this, however, they are not available in adjustable patterns; only fixed: www.homedepot.com/p/Orbit-15-ft-1-2-Pattern-Brass-Twin-Spray-Nozzle-53227W/203106505
@@orbitsprinklers Sounds like a market opportunity. Here in California, we are in a drought situation, and when sprinklers can distribute water uniformly, our big problem is alleviated, abeit only somewhat. You can help by having some of your work-at-home engineers develop a sprinkler head which distributes the water uniformly after adjusting the angle of deposition. If you need help, then please ask; although I have a SM in electrical engineering from MIT, i have a background in fluid dynamics and would be easily able to design a sprinkler head which would adjust the angle of deployment and maintain a uniform concentration of water over the covered area. I'm sure you have an engineering team that can do at least as well. thanks
Simple and excellent explanation. Great!
Why is this information not printed on the product label?
Thank You!!!
Is it always counter clockwise to open the valve up? And clockwise to always shut the valve?
returning all the orbit sprinkler heads I just purchased as the center screw on the brass version is too tight to adjust
What is the Phillips head screw in the bottom of the nozzle when you take it off is that an adjustment also?
I know right..??
My gosh, thank you thank you thank you! I am just learning this stuff and went through way too many demonstrations learning nothing clearly until yours.
i guess I am kinda off topic but do anyone know of a good site to stream newly released movies online?
@Harlem Joey lately I have been using Flixzone. Just google for it =)
@Harlem Joey I use flixzone. You can find it by googling :)
@Harlem Joey Try flixzone. You can find it by googling =)
Do these adjust down distance ? Or do they start approx at marked distance and go up a couple feet ? Thanks
Hello, the center screw adjusts distance, however, please note that will only be a couple feet at most. after that we'd recommend moving up to the next highest nozzle.
Awesome! Saved me hrs trying to figure out what to do.
I have adjusted them but now they leak in all directions, how do I fix that?
I do also want to add they are only a month old
This seems like the screw might be too far out, causing a leak.
What about a shrub head nozzle? I replaced it but aiming it is tricky.
I just bought Orbit brass metal full and half spray heads. I cannot seem to adjust the DIRECTION (not fullness) of the spray on the half spray ones. If I loosen the whole sprinkler head to point the two arrows in the right direction, it leaks at the base. I cannot find a single video telling me how to adjust the direction of the half spray without loosening the whole head. HELP SOMEONE!!!!
Good presentation. Thanks.
how about the regular pattern nozzels (all black) ,how do you adjust the distance? I replaced a new popup head nozzle by matching what was installed , but the screw on top would not go either way ?? do i have to unscrew the bottom one? am I missing something?,
The regular pattern are indeed adjusted by the screw in the center. The screw can be tough to get moving. Please note that even under ideal circumstances the middle screw on these will only adjust the pattern by a couple feet at most.
The screw on my 8A will not turn! Why are these so tight???
I just installed some new pop-up sprinklers and one of them leaks between the white seal and the pop-up portion . What do I do?
This would signal a bad wiper seal. These do wear out and we sell replacements: www.orbitonline.com/product/pop-up-sprinkler-wiper-seal-400-series/
However, if these are new installs, they should not be doing that. Please send us your contact info via private message on one of the linked social channels and we'll get in touch to get this resolved.
Very good information 👌
My nozzle is an 8 foot and the best I can get is about 3 feet - why? The nozzle I replaced was shooting 12-15 feet so its not the pressure
Why is the damn screw so fricken hard to turn??
super video. It's so nice to know what all the bits mean!
Perfect explanation, Thanks.
You're welcome!

Is there an adapter where i can remove nozzle, install adapter to raise up maybe 1-2 inches then reinstall nozzle?
No, nothing like that exists. This is because the nozzle needs to close flush to the sprinkler. What you would probably want to look into is a 6-inch pop up (we make one, model 54100). On that you could replace the nozzle, even the cap if you wanted the soft cap shown in this video.
I followed instructions exactly but could not turn the screw to adjust distance at all. Is there a trick? You make it look easy.
Hello, these certainly can be tough to turn sometimes. There's no special trick to it though.
@@orbitsprinklers 'Certainly tough' is an understatement. You can downright injure yourself trying to loosen up the screws on these. Would help if you guys didn't over-torque your screws closed all the way. I am returning all the Orbit professional sprinkler heads I bought, and going back to your competitors.
If you remove the top nozzle, and turn it upside down, you will see a phillips screw head. I hold the nozzle with vice-grips carefully adjusted to prevent damaging the nozzle, and then use my Black and Decker power screwdriver to run this screw in and out maybe 10 times. after a few of those passes, the interference fit between the plastic and the phillips screw loosens up enough to let me adjust it using the mini-screwdriver from the top after re-assembly. Don't remove the screw and use a tap on the plastic, it will be too loose and the distance sprayed will change over time.
@@jimbusse7381 thank you!
Remove the center screw using a Phillips screwdriver on the Phillips screw side and coat the screw with Petroleum jelly. Put the screw back and screw it in and out a few times and the problem is fixed. The Petroleum Jelly has never caused damage to my lawn and/or plants. Good luck.
Mine is spraying where ever and how ever it wants to. I have tried every single one of these methods and I haven’t seen any changes. I have even replaced the tops and filter, still nothing. Grr! Haha...
The distance is still unclear. I have an adjustable 10’ but want to reduce the distance.
yeah that screw is almost impossible to turn, you will need to remove the spray tip and loosen the Philips screw underneath it to be able to turn it, thing that they never tell you, learnt it the hard way.
Thanks, man.
Thanks for the Information.
Thank you
The marks are NOT for seniors that can't see that tiny arrow, especially if it is in the ground. LMAO
How do I adjust the arc?
Arc adjustment is not possible with pop-up sprinklers. You can only adjust the radius pattern.
I understood how you adjusted from 0 to 360 degrees, but you didn't say how to adjust where the 0 degrees starts.
Thank you.
Orbit sprayers put rainbird to shame
Not really but okay
Thank you
How do I remove the head? Ty
Twisted counterclockwise if you are talking about the nozzle that he is showing, you pull it up hold the bottom of it that comes out and then turn the nozzle counterclockwise until it comes off be sure to check the screen when you do that
