Oli’s vision for BMTH has been such a ride…I’m so happy to still be understood & surprised by a giving sound that eventually just plays in my mind. So grateful to experience his art in this lifetime ❤
"Everyone knows it's not good to have any idol because they are just humans and they can make mistakes sometimes, and it's okay. Everyone deserves to have the right to commit mistakes. But that man... It's very hard not to have him as my only idol."
14:01 until 16:01 part really resonated with me! I love watching Oli in interviews; theres that sincerity in his commentary that makes you feel really connected and it gives you a sense of reassurance. Thank you, Oli, for staying true to yourself; you’re truly an inspiration!
I absolutely love BMTH, they’ve always been themselves and never bowed to the masses! They’ve always done what they wanted to do and it’s payed off. Ollie’s lyrics are always brilliant and a few of his songs have helped me through some tough times. Plus they’re all northerners which is a massive plus. Love BMTH, Love Ollie can’t wait to see them again!
Bmth’s music has helped me so much with my sobriety & mental health journey, I was addicted to meth & crack for several years which has caused for me to go into psychosis and put in a psychward on involuntarily hold for 15+ days, 3 different times. I don’t know where I’d be right now on my journey without their music being so relatable to me in those moments. The songs Oh No, Strangers & Lost have really helped me stay sober and on the right track, they’re my go to music when I get cravings and it helps me stay strong, so thank-you for willing to be more vulnerable and open with that stuff because it helps me immensely. Xo
Hurt my feelings that he said he went from a rubbish band to a good band but their first album is one of my favourites of all time 😢 I wish he’d appreciate how much some of us still absolutely love old BMTH
That's the difference in perspective between the artists and listeners. I mean they were like 19 when they made Count Your Blessings. They look back at their 19 year old self when theyre now 36 and they cringe at the stuff they made. It shows improvement. I love every album of BMTH without exception. I love CYB and I also love amo. But yeah, i don't think their older albums are "rubbish" as oli said it. I just think of it as they started as deathcore and expanded their sound. Maybe as an artist, oli look at it like they started as just like any other myspace bands at the time but then they slowly grow into their own identity and their own sound, oli couldn't sing and learned how to sing and scream more properly, his improvement in songwriritng too, etc.
You have to remember that both CYB and Suicide Season were written by a group of teenagers and early 20s kids who had little life experience to pull from. They were partying and making the most ridiculous things they could even if it didn't say anything profound. I mean just take the lyrics from Pray For Plagues as an example of what he means by "crap". When ever since There Is A Hell they have been singing about struggling with addiction, faith, emotional and mental health issues and personal growth I can understand why he views where they started as "crap" The difference between a line like "she starts a new diet of liquor and dick" and "the hardest thing you'll know is there's no love like your own" is staggering in what it says about who he is as a person and an artist. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love their older music but I would rather have them make something like Nex Gen a thousand times over than to watch one of my favorite artists and biggest inspirations fall back into the destructive and suicidal pit he was in during those older days.
@@EymbrI know that I’m not saying they need to make that type of music again cos I know they wouldn’t. But a lot of people idolise those albums and count your blessings had a huge influence on me and I will never not love it. I don’t expect them to be back at that unhealthy state but also it happened and it’s part of their journey, I just wish they didn’t shit on it so much
@@ferrenberg I only know obvs count your blessings and a few songs of the next couple albums but yeah i agree with you, it’s just a totally different vibe isn’t it. I like one song on their new album but it’s cos they sound more like deftones on it than BMTH!
it's crazy thinking I saw them in a small O2 academy a month after Suicide Season was released in 2008! That was awesome, a mix of songs from Count Your Blessings and Suicide Season. I definitely felt old seeing them 15 years later in a huge arena January this year.

Not the biggest BMTH and definitely took a step back post there’s a hell; but man this new album is incredible. Such a pure and uncynical take on warped tourcore with the sounds of what you THOUGHT that music sounded like

I love music so much, Its always on and I always wonder what the thought process is making songs and who the bands I like get their inspiration from. I have no musical talent of my own which is probably a blessing, honestly. But I think this is one of the best interviews I've seen with any musician. Huge fan of BMTH, they have some songs that have gotten me through some hard times as well. So glad Oli is living that sober life now, he could have been another artist gone too soon.
surprised he didn’t mention ‘Hope For Us by The Jealous Sound’ I know he absolutely loves that song. I remember when he made it his profile song on MySpace 😅
It's so cool to see, that he recommends women in music. You don't see that often by male rock musicians. I always liked that about Bring Me. As always a very nice interview.

only point i disagree with is that we are currently lacking exciting, boundary pushing artists artists like there were in 2016. he just mentioned charli himself, or chappell roan is an easy pick here as well. or turnstile in punk and indie music.
hes most likely going through something since last year he got a nose job when he was in japan, not sure if hes done cheekbones but he def got lip fillers recently.
@@krushh I’m wondering why he was so unhappy and insicure about the way he looked that he felt the need to change his face. I’m hoping he just does not go to far with that 😣
