Got mine last month and I put head lights and and fans on it so far swaybars are next because the body roll is crazy and it's faster than I expected also because of the 3S lipo battery which I bought it out the gate that way. Still learning the car having a ball too. Thanks for your help, I bought the black one and named it Venom because it's Violent 💯
I can only imagine how this will perform. Looking good so far, that center diff will make a big difference in the power and performance. Take care and best wishes to you and the family
@JasonPerrinRCVlogs Like the channel name change! This has been an enjoyable build. I'm still playing with the springs. I went to the blues now, just need to get some time to run it.
Nice video I have the same truck and the first thing that I replaced was the slipper clutch with a center differential. And the first thing that broke was a rear driveshaft.
I got the black special edition raptor R and on the first run on 3S I blew out the rear shocks, repaired them and blew them out again on second run, got some lol amazon hd aluminum shocks they seemed to work well on road but I took it back off road and bent the rear shock shaft driver's side on the second run and the bottom plate came out and shock separated and yea fun times
@corygarbutt9880 How high are you launching this thing😆 Yeah the GTR shocks are a good upgrade from the stockers. I've used the Amazon special ones but only on my rally. They've been good so far.
Is it more affordable to buy the Raptor R as it comes in the box or did you spend less with the parts you purchased to modify your truck throughout this three-part presentation?
@jorgecervantespartida8929 If you plan to replace the servo, ESC, motor, wheels and tires, plus shocks, I wouldn't think of going any other way. I wasn't a fan of the 3S system and the stock servo. Plus the stock tires didn't seem too great either. Cost wasn't the main factor as much as building the truck the way I wanted. Plus I installed the center diff, I forgot about that😀 Too many folks buy the RTR then rip out everything and take a bath on selling off the stock parts. I prefer doing it the other way around. It may come out the same on cost but you don't have the stress of selling parts.
@ReadySetRC Thank you for your response! I'll keep that in mind. I have a different rc that I want to use its body as an alternative to the Raptor R. I'll stick with buying the truck as it is and look into your video for guidance. Excuse my ignorance, but what flaws did you see with the Raptor R?
@@jorgecervantespartida8929 All vids I watched, stock ESC shutting off and getting extremely hot. A fan may help but I like running a 4s system on 3S more. I'm not a big fan of the Traxxas stock servo, a little slow. Tires felt a little hard for the areas I run. I like the stock shocks. A truck like this should have sway bars installed. It needs that control. I love how Traxxas Slash based chassis perform with a center diff installed. Feels much more dialed in and not so raw in the turns on power.
@ReadySetRC May I ask if there's a specific Traxxas vehicle you're relying upon using its parts for your Raptor R to make it better? Or is it trial and error? I saw the Traxxas Slash Maxx has a 6s engine. I think that may be a bigger vehicle than the Raptor R and so its requirements are different.
Nice job I used the gtr shocks on my stampede night and day difference 👍 hey 2 of my stock slash shocks are leaking all the time now any ideas how to stop this ? 13:51
hey great vidoes my guy......i was wondering were you got the traxxas GTR blue shocks assembled 4 pack from ?? and should any 1/10 scale slash 4x4 shocks work on the rapter r ?? im new to the hobby
@2piecenobisuit763 Thank you👍 Welcome to the hobby! Little secret called JRC(Jenny's RC) ssshhhh😆 I wouldn't put any other Slash shocks on since it is going to be either the same as this or not even as new as these. Something about the springs on this feels stiffer and the plastic looks a little different. Could be me but just looks different. The GTR shocks work great. I'm still testing but I think the black spring rates are a little too soft. You could go up to pink or blue. I went up to blue but have not had a chance to take it out yet.
@Oeltanker87 These springs actually came with the shocks since it was from a parted out Ultimate. But the fronts are the long and the xx-long are for the rear. I'm experimenting with the springs It needs some stiffer springs. I'm now running blue springs on it.
Initially, was trying to figure out what you meant by "ultimate shocks", because there is no such thing. Then, I realized you were referring to the "ultimate" option vehicles. Technically, these aren't "ultimate" shocks (again, no such thing)...these are GTR shocks. Other than that, looking good.
@ninthislandrc In NY we abbreviate and reference everything and assume everyone knows😆 These are shocks that were parted off a Traxxas Slash 4x4 Ultimate. I reference them as "Ultimate" because I'm trying to reference where they are off of rather than them being GTR shocks. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't believe you can buy the blue anodized GTR shocks with the springs which is why I'm referencing like that.
@@ReadySetRC EVERYTHING found on in any 'Ultimate' Traxxas vehicle can be purchased separately. Put another way, any Traxxas part found on any Traxxas vehicle, can be purchased (well, except for very special "limited edition" bodies, such as Snap-On bodies). The 'key' might be knowing which springs came with your shocks, in case you need to get softer/firmer springs. Truth is, the Traxxas GTR & GTS shocks are among the best shocks available...which is exactly why I even use them on non-Traxxas vehicles. 👍🏼

@sparetimerc Thanks Al! Wait until you see stage 2.

Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.

This truck rips 💯 looks like a very fun Rc
@JonnyJetson754 Wait until you see the running video💪 All the power with no heat issues.
Yeah that’ll be awesome 💯🤙
I know its silly but I added the clear diff cover on mine. I like to show off all the shiny anodized stuff underneath. 😁

I'm really interested in how this turns out. Salute!

Awesome video !!! Why does traxxas put crappy plastic shock caps on almost all aluminum high end ultimate shocks ???? NOT COOL !!!!

@rcjoe406 Thank you! Is it from the caps, usually that's where they leak from. Most cases, replacing to the metal caps usually is the fix.
