The reason why those dresses are not "conservative" is because back in the days weddings and especially Henna + Outiya days were gender segregated. So it used to be a female only celebration. But for the past few decades (maybe starting from the 60s or so) weddings stopped being segregated ( at least in Tunis and other big coastal cities). Moreover, back in my grandma's days, it was also common to cover the stomach with a fine layer of mousseline or "Chabka" ( a sort of crossed embroidered layer) or even Maryoul Fadhila and other styles of lacy undershirts and the stomach wouldn't show tooo much. There are many Tunisian dresses that come in 2 pieces (either top + skirt, or top + pants), they vary in styles of embroidery and cities of origins (e.g Fouta w Blouza, Keswa Kabbous Gharek, Tarayoun, Marsaoui, Tabdila Nabliya, etc etc....).
Big shout-out to Emily. She gives a new meaning to travel vlogging. Unlike any vlogger she takes a deep dive into the culture and gets closer to the people. After all the respect and love she has shown to our country i think it's fair to say that she is now One of Us 🙏
In fact, Tunisian wedding parties were not mixed-gender. So, women felt comfortable wearing Tunisian keswas which show some skin. Most women used to where sefseri (traditional Tunisian veil) whenever they go out. Most Tunisians are conservative.
How Tunisian wedding parties are not mixed? And how women ware Sefseri at the wedding party ? Because sefseri is an outdoor clothes . Are you even sure you are Tunisian ?
@@ghofranebouzid1952 self human respect ? For what for mixed weddings ? This depends on the regions and their culture nabeul is different from sousse and sousse is different from Jandouba and jandouba is different from tozer .. respect others and they will respect you darling but we are mixed since forever in the north as I know since my grand grandparents at least
Not forget to mention the benefits of hiring wedding dresses or wedding outfits existed in Tunisia for so long and nowadays is actually concidered as good for the environment and is form of sustainability by less waste of clothing ❤thank you Emily and friends for highlighting that ❤❤
Outeya is mostly what the wedding party is called in Grand Tunis. Wedding customs are very different from one city to another (the number of events or parties, organizer, etc) You'll still still find the same outfits mostly used in most of coastal cities. However, other cities have very different outfits.
The store you went to is not that big, it has only almost one type of tabdila (same general design and somehow modern and international style) but the traditional tunisian tabdila is waaaay more diverse and wayyyy more conservative than those one you tried on 😌. I think your friend picked the store because she gussed that you would like the less conservative style.😊
That's a typical traditional tabdila, there's no 'conservative' tabdila, unless it's for hijabi girls. We love our Tunisian traditional tabdila. Why do people always want to relate 'traditional' to 'conservative' ! The Tunisian tabdila is beautiful the way it is. It's not that conservative and not vulgar either.
One comment : the shop selling or hiring outfits for weddings named " Ahla Aroussa " you have translated it as " welcome to the bride "3. In fact the correct meaning is " The best of brides ".
outeya is done by the brides family and the marriage is done by the groom and his family , why you hanging with people , who give you false infos and know nothing about their own country
Haha yeah weddings here are so much fun, I don’t blame you 😉 As for the dress, it cost 300 TND to rent for a couple of days during the wedding and then you have to return it after the wedding. They don’t sell the dresses in shops like this. It’s strictly rental.
