    So how do we maintain the soil stability? Backfill? French drain? Is that a separate video? Thank you.

      Both are good options to maintaining stability, yes.

    what about several rows of large rocks on the water side to help prevent washout?

      This would only be a temporary fix. The only long term solution is what is explained in this video.
