Dagan what have you done? You made me initially want to learn guitar, I’m now 5 guitars in. Now I want to return to the dark side and buy this bass. Problem is I already have 6 basses? Help!!!
I still like my ebony JC epiphone. If It would have been available I would have gone for the special edition silverburst. This bass I choose mainly for off the grid sessions at night when I´m already too lazy to plug it in but wanna have a quick strum. my fav setting though is the impedance at 250 - kinda p bass sound - and tone rolled back to 4.
Great vid, Dagan! The sound is awsum from the fingers vs a pick! I love how Epiphone left the bottom horn more of a Les Paul style and the top horn a 335 style!
I have a cherry red model ! The sounds this thing put out is amazing. Kinda heavy so be prepared to work some muscle playing these bad boys. I put my Fender rumble 100 on overdrive and this thing shakes the house apart.
I have the classic gold one - they started making cool colors right after I got mine. Great bass. This is probably the absolutely worst bridge ever designed, but the bass plays and feels great. It's not a speed machine nor is it super versatile, but the 3 main tones it has are the 3 you really need in your arsenal. It's also really cool to look at and interesting.
This bass guitar should've had more version of its normal 6 strings guitar... Well there is the 73-79 LP Signature but it was pretty rare and now its discontinued so I think if Epiphone built a guitar version of this it'll definitely fantastic
There are a ton of videos of Jack Casady playing his signature bass that are worth watching too because....Jack Casady. It was cool hearing a different approach tho, good demo, Dagan. I own an Ebony JC bass. Love the tone, love the look of it, and the neck is comfortable. the neck dives like a mf, remedied with a wide strap. i've had a little trouble w the body of the bass pitching forward (different than neck dive), which makes it a little more difficult to balance and is the only thing i don't like about the bass.....but, if Jack and Dagan can overcome that, maybe i'll figure it out too. Also, strings... this bass sounds great with flat wounds, Jack plays with rounds and it sounds great too.
Bloody great review and played the way a bass should be played, none of that high register noodling pretentious bullshit! Well done, now i know what this great bass sounds like, thank you. 😁
It’s fun how most reviews pickup his bass was a les Paul shape and this isn’t. That’s not actually a bad thing. Les Paul basses are fine short scale, but full scale bass and it does what Gibson guitars turned into basses always do with a few extra inches of wood (😏); the nose dives for the floor every time you take your hand off the neck. Especially as Jack wanted a hollow body it would have been unplayable with a smaller body . These are far better scaled and balanced bodies., though as you can see from the way dagan can’t let go of it for a second, it’s still pretty nose heavy, it annoys me a bit, but it’s not too bad Really Jack wanted to improve the les Paul bass and I think he did it. Many people complain about 1 pickup but I don’t really see it as a limitation tbh. If you must have 2 get a jazz bass or one of the 10,000 PJ’s. This jack Cassidy does the classic rock bass tone so well it actually shames most Gibson basses tbh. So yeah, I don’t play mine a heap, but I absolutely love it when I do. Jack did what he set out to do ultimately; make a better Gibson bass. Only weakness is that terrible 3 point bridge, but then would it really be a Gibson style bass if it didn’t have the curse of the 3 point?
Have wanted one of these for ages, but being a lefty I am limited to the gold top they catalogue. I'm just not that flash, or good enough player to rock that look. Why if they do a lefty, why do they limit the colours, I like the blue and the black.
It is a bass that sounds amazing in person. Mine is very bright and vibrant, with a very strong signal and lots of low frequencies. Quite different than this demoed instrument (except that mid range thing when using a pick), but it seems these basses are quite varied in this regard. Or perhaps this bass is just this sensitive to individual touch... I have heard some that are very bassy and plush sounding too, so it may be the case of touch sensitivity. Also, a great and comfortable neck, with very low action.
I normally don;t care if you use a pick or your fingers, but in this example, I wish he would play it with his fingers, so we can hear the tone. ok he just used his fingers...
I love the dark red finish
I quite like the bass videos. Do you have anymore planned?
man I am absolutely loving my faded pelham blue i just got!
I grabbed the Sparkling Burgundy (candy apple red) couple months ago... WOW... this thing is a BEAST

Jack's Les Paul bass was a Les Paul Signature bass, which is pretty much exactly like this

Does anyone know of a professional bassist that plays this bass beside Jack?
Mani - Stone Roses, and Arctic Monkeys' bassist are two..
I know of only one and it would be one of The Cramps bass players in the early 2000's. Thanks for your reply . :-)
nick o'malley yea
Dave Grohl and Echosmith bassist
Michael Shuman from QOTSA
Weight?
Review the Fender Stratocaster HSH please?
I guess I’ll have to go elsewhere to find out what it sounds like without a pick.
Um.... I'm in love
I like that

Wanky bit at the start, i leave right then.
Made in China ????
If you are going to do bass videos, you need to start slappin'. A hollow body is on my list of must haves, I think the blue one is sexy.
