This whole album is underrated. It has lived in my car since I bought it years ago.
It was too cool for that time. Therefore, it was underrated. Can you believe that this song lives for more than 20 years? It looks like a novelty, still fresh.
the first record was really good too. the album justin and steve made after they left was really good as well. Justin is a phenomenal singer.

@@CharlesBronsnPinchot I first heard it in an amv with samurai x. Vast is a touchstone to my heart since that few moments when Kenshin found the breaking pain and this song collided. Since then, I've taken great tragedy and don't complain.

@@frigginirishloons Bad decisions in the direction of the band... The first album was the best, and the second one is saved by some songs, and then the band got lost.
They started out with an industrial and experimental rock style and then drifted into generic rock.
I've been a fan of them ever since, unfortunately I only own one album lol Think I should go hunt for more.

Interestingly enough, the band Catharsis used the same song for their work Sabbat. The album Passion...obsession came out a year later than VAST. Edit: the song on Passion...is Izgrejala jasna zvezda. My bad.

This song has always been absolutely perfect.
When I first heard this song I was absolutely blown away and it instantly became my favorite song of all time. It's the perfect mix of past, present, and future with acoustic and electric guitars, industrial and ancient elements, thundering drums and deep bass. I only wish the album lyrics focused more on the unknown rather then relationships.
There have been two times in my life where music managed to perfectly articulate what I was going through and what I was feeling. The first time was in 1994 when I first listened to Nine Inch Nails. The second time was about a month ago when I discovered Vast. I've been listening to his albums on Spotify and he doesn't have a B track. Every song knocks me on my ass and is helping me process a broken heart. I wish I could write the dude and say thanks. My God, this is some of the most beautiful, moving music I've listened to in my life.

I bought the album back in 1999 after reading a 5* review in 'Sounds' music magazine. The album is superb but this track is otherworldly. I have played Touched hundreds of times and it ALWAYS makes me cry... now that is songwriting genius. I'm in my mid-sixties and this is still my favourite song.
Laird Hamilton's tow surfing brought me here. Massive crash of music engulfed me in an ocean swell that keeps me tumbling in the rip tide. I died and went to rock heaven..........

I asked my friends and tryed to sing it to them but nobody ever figured it out cuz i suck at singing but i finally found it.....hellz yeah

This was on a show called Angel -- maybe one or two you know it -- and I heard it for the first time there... It was one of those times where a song just completely took over my mind for a couple of weeks. I would just play this song and get high off it over and over. I wouldn't want to change one second of it.

We all have an encounter with someone who effects us like this song interprets and portrays. Intentionally or not they hit you right at your core.
And for better or worse you are altered in a fashion you would not have thought possible. It can leave you keening for it should it fail...which of course in most instances it does.
The other person is simply another human being after all. No different from yourself.
You think you have found something, in them, lacking in yourself. But here's the thing.
That which they ignite is simply an aspect already within yourself. It's never gone. It's been with you since your moment of conception.
Once you understand this then you can move into your future in a fashion better than you have to date.

Angel season one brought me here
Guy has such a beautiful voice very rare to hear artists have this sort of talent. And his lyrics are so well written
I remember when I saw their first video “FREE” I went & bought their first album. It was on cassette tape lol. I have always like these guys.
This song is so underestimated and I found it by chance, checking out some Bulgarian folk songs. These guys need more promotion, concerts, radio presence, whatever.
This is quite possibly my absolute favorite song in the world. Sure it helped that I first heard it at age 16…from the trailer for The Beach. And immediately became obsessed. Ironic it’s not in the movie. VAST was one of my first introductions to “goth rock”, which led me to appreciate other artists and bands they were inspired by. Also VAST was my first concert and saw it with my band members/best friends. I still have the guitar pick from the show! Such good memories.
Best Vast album. This was the first song I heard back in the day and I've been a fan ever since.

I‘m kinda surprised that nobody mentions that this song is about losing a loved one through suicide. Although it still works as a „normal“ tragic love song, it‘s still pretty obvious after seeing the video. Maybe it‘s so clear that nobody has the need to write about it, but i was surprised that I didn‘t see one comment after scrolling down.

Yes. It is about loss - it could just be from a normal break up, but the mention of dying roses and razors, and then the film clip make it obvious what the song is about. Also, if you look at the translation of the Bulgarian Choir song that is sampled, then it is about loving someone now because turbulent times are coming.

This album probably rivals Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness for amount of times played when I was in high school. Holy shit it's so good, and it holds up.

This is epic, class, one and only,. for me the Vast thing started when I saw Logo of Vast done by the same people who did open credits for David Fincher's 7even the movie. Kyle Cooper and hid Prologue did CD cover for the Vast's first album. Ever since this music was with me for years. The genius of Cosby will amaze me forever....this music will be played on my funeral. Epic and breath taking in every way. For some reason this band is very underrated. Did saw them ones live in New York and will never forget it, It was epic. Not sure what happened to them after all these years, but any time I go back to Vast tunes I get goose bumps. First album was done by Cosby himself only. He did all the instruments by himself. One recollection ... I need to find out if on video Pretty When You Cry you see a man played by Czech stunt/dwarf Mr. Krytinar and would love to know if it was shot in Prague. Anynone? I would hope so. At the end . . every time I hear Vast . it always remind me of the fact . . . that I am still alive. Simple as that. Thanks you,

I first heard this song in the trailer for "The Beach". The only reason I went to see that movie in the theater was to hear it, and watch the credits to see who it was. It wasn't used in the movie. I was piiiiiiissed. Ha! I did find it shortly thereafter, though, and it's been in my top 3 albums of all time ever since.

As a early teen in early 2000s I always seen this album in the CD store. It always caught my eye but I unfortunately never gave it a chance. 😞 But then I discovered it in my early 30s and can not stop listening. I wish 12-13 year old me would of given it a chance so bad so it would be nostalgic to me now.
It's the best album I've ever heard. Every song perfekt. Full of feelings, power and pain. A masterpiece.

They had another song on an intro. Believe it was issue 44. “Last One Alive”. Two of the best songs that could have ever been used for a skate part.

Lol, I loved this song when I watched angel 20 years ago. I'm so glad I decided to re-watch it
Took me year to find out who did this joint. First time I heard it was on the trailer for the movie the beach years ago, but never sought out whit was by. I started hearing the Bulgaria sample in episodes of the Xfiles. I’m a musician and I do a lot of funk based instrumental songs and I wanted to use the sample in one of my tracks. So I went searching for the trailer for the beach and each one I found did not have the song in the trail and they were all short as I remember it being a little longer. One day last year at work I went on UA-cam and I found the actual trailer and I Shazam’d the song and Vast popped up! I was too happy I then went on line and typed in what sample was used in touched found the actual sample! This song had been stuck in my head for YEARS! and nobody could tell me who it was I even sang the shit to some folks ( and I can sing) still no luck. But I have it now!
