- I really wanted something that did good on gas, was fun to drive, and was unique - this fits the bill and then some.
Follow along as I add this unique vehicle to the channel, maybe modify a bit, and from there keep you up to date on information and aftermarket support.

I first bought a used 2008 HHR LT because I liked its style. It was black, but had that awful light grey interior. My husband had to go to Dialysis 3 times a week and it was so easy for him to get in and out of. On New Year's eve 2010, a girl ran thru a stop sign, hit the Right side where my husband was sitting and put us on 2 wheels. My husband ended up in the hospital. The Insurance totaled it.
While he was in Intensive Care, I took my 9 yr. Old grand-daughter with me to the Chevy Dealer. Asked if they might have any HHR'S, he took us on the cart to the back lot and there it was, a 2011 HHR LT, Dark grey with the sparkles paint, but it looks totally Black and the best thing was an all black interior. It had 3 miles on it.
I bought it, my husband never got to see it, because he passed away in March 2011. It's 2023, I still have it and it has only 75,357 miles on it. All I have done so far is buy a new set of tires, brakes, my son replaced the rotors and a motor for the windows. I didn't even know there was an SS Model. Your HHR is Beautiful. I need to replace the Bowtie on the rear of mine, that's what I was looking for instructions for. When I saw these different posts.

I have a 2008 HHR SS. Bought it 69,000..now it has 161,000 miles. Running strong. Only did 1 tuneup, synetic oil change and 2 sensor, k&n filter since I had it. Still quick.

Congrats on finding this low mileage for its year. Good to see it has the performance digital display. Me, I drive a 2009 HHR SS panel aqua blue mettalic. Owned mine since new.

Congrats!!! I'm definitely looking forward to more HHR content on your channel. I originally purchased an 07 HHR LT as a winter car and ended up really enjoying it. The car is so versatile and comfortable. I then sold it to purchase a black 2010 SS like yours with 65,000 miles. This car is definitely fun to drive. For long trips I'd prefer my HHR SS over my 2017 Camaro SS lol.

Congrats on the HHR! These were one of most versatile cars ever made. You can stick an 8 ft ladder in the non-SS models and still close the hatch. So far I’ve toted a dock box, long fishing rods and other bulky items that don’t fit or were too messy to put in my other vehicles. I bought a base model a few months ago for similar reasons - I wanted a fun, unique-looking, economical car for my routine trips. Because you have an SS, I would probably just do minor upgrades, definitely upgrade the sound system, and maybe a few cosmetic upgrades that are easy to revert back. Us folks with lesser models just lurk around like scavengers for wrecked SSs so we can pillage the parts to upgrade our cars or just buy them new since these cars are easy to work on.
So far I love the thing - need to check out some front suspension noises, but that sounds common. I'm also trying to scavenge some SS parts to keep on hand :) Let me know if you find anything good!

I have the exact same 2010 got it with 37000 km now up to 51. I also want to open the engine bay with a zzp intake and possibly a catless maybe a hann or magna flo. But I love the stock no cel lol. Def don’t want to mess with my baby too much
I also have a stock hhr ss (2008), not in as nice shape as the one you just picked up. Mines stock as well. I took the lid off the air box to hear the turbo a bit more, same idea as running it as a hot air intake... it's a cold air intake by design. They're pretty sweet little cars. This is my first SS, but 3rd HHR. First one I bought was used for courier and retired it at 734,000 kilometers

SUPER COOL CAR! This is what I waited (expected) for of PT Cruiser when is came on daylight... that I imagine for (the form lines) the look... it's a CRUISER (TOURER)...
You know I subbed to your channel for the Impala content because I had one at the time. I picked it up from my father who bought it new in 95. I also let mine go but to my little brother so its still in the family. I'm very excited for this purchase as well because I just so happen to also have a 2009 HHR SS AA5 with a 5spd. I picked it up with 16k miles and it now has 137k. Its been an excellent daily driver and kid hauler. Oil change every 5-6k miles and that motor will last. If I may make a few suggestions on modifications. The upper and lower charge pipes and the intercooler end tanks are plastic and eventually crack. ZZP makes a great all aluminum replacement for all three. No tune needed although I highly recommend it. You wont believe how much it wakes these cars up. Just a 93octane tune is all you need and the car is more than fast enough for what it is and still be reliable. But thats up to you sir. Anyway congratulations on the purchase I'm sure your going to love it. Look forward to future content!

I do! Just hit 80k miles and love it. For a daily, fits everyone, does good mpg - you can’t beat it. It’s a blast to drive too. Hope you find one you like!

Is it roomy for a tall person over 6’?
@@tylerdurden-lv1cn So I am about 6' even and don't have any issues. The seats are on a pedestal, kind of like an SUV type, so that is something to consider. I don't think that's very uncommon nowadays, but I'd say try a regular HHR in your area to see if you like the layout, visibility, etc.

I found a HHR SS I'm looking at, save situation he's selling it for his father. It only has 9200 miles on it that is correct 9200 miles. Unfortunately it doesn't have a sunroof and he's also asking $18,000 for it oh, how much did you pay for yours

The car had red and black seats. Someone had them reupholstered because you could see the backseats were still red on the inserts
Not all of them had red/black. Some had silver/black and some had all black like mine. The original sales brochure shows this - also look at some used ones online and you'll see what I mean. If you are seeing red in the back it's probably my kids child/car seat. Thanks for watching!

It’s an interesting car…. Lots went into it surprisingly.
Most people don't, as there were less than 10,000 produced. What's even more cool is the 2009 only panel version - only 216 made, or AA5 option SS (aka the 1/2 panel SS,) of which there were only 199 made.

Not as a job, just my own here and there when needed.
I just bought one with 125K and don't have any records for the transmission. It's not as clean as yours, but it has 13 pages of Carfax maintenance records. I live very close to Kent and would like to keep it. How can I feel safe changing the transmission fluid?
@jonichristian is it a manual or automatic? Automatic is a bit more difficult to fluid flush from my reading.

Yea so from what I’ve gathered you can drop the pan and change the filter in these. Filling and checking the level is kind of a pain for an at home job though.
I want an 09 because of the turbo gauge is on the Piller not in the middle like the 2010 and 11 also I own a 08 hhr base trim black I really want a ss because no one in my city has one I know that I'm 100% sure
Check my other video - you can add the pillar gauge to a 2010.
Please do deeper research! The hp and torgue for the automatic are grossly misleading! Both stick and automatic have the same HP/torque! The automatic limits power for traction in 1st geat only by pulling timing. Auto has positive traction differential and a 2800 stall torque converter and launch control! Also "I Drive" or 3rd gear see gear selector and Competitive Mode is for road course competition driving. Vehicle will reach it's top speed of 155 in 3rd gear and 4th also at a lower rpm. Try driving around for awhile in "I" or Intelligent Drive Mode and enjoy the enhanced performance, be sure to double click traction control button to engage Competitive Mode! Enjoy your sleeper Chevy.
First gear automatically reduces torque in first gear by pulling timing for better traction and a quicker take off.

i got mine 10 hhr ss 6 month. mine has turbo problem lack of power and white smoke with strong oil smell
If you want a great car with no tranny issues leave it be. Don’t tune it
