The ultimate black comedy A classic which gets better the more times you watch it.
Good as Guinness is in Kind Hearts I will always maintain it's Dennis Price's masterpiece. He was a superbly classy actor. His dry delivery in this film is just a total joy to listen to.
My feelings, exactly!
Guiness himself described his performance as 'wooden'.
My absolve favourite film of all time. Dennis Price`s performance is superb!!!!!
Dennis Price's performance in this film was absolutely superb - a superb actor with one of the most beautiful speaking voices in the business. His and Joan Greenwood's scenes wer exquisite and very, very sexy.
This is an excellent discussion about this classic masterpiece, with very high quality footage from it.
I love the short scene of the morning of Lionel and Sibella's wedding.
It's so obvious from their expressions that Louis has 'given her one' - if not several - the night before !
my memoirs...
I haven’t watched it for many years. Was a little anxious that it wouldn’t be as good as I remembered. It was even better. The non speaking acting by Price is quite extraordinary!
Brilliantly funny film with superb performances by both Dennis Price and Alec Guinness-my favourite performances of the latter being the doddery old priest and the brief but magnificent look of haughty disdain on the cold face of Lady Agatha🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great documentary about a wonderful film
The epitome of great style.
My dad was in The Blue lamp, he use to sneak into Ealing Studios
How dare the Americans change the ending of this wonderful film !
I always believed he would still get away with it.
Pardon how can you possibly say that the americans changed the films ending.
evergreen!
we serve each other right....
I thought of this film when I saw Saltburn.
IMHO, one of the things that makes us delight in Louis D'Ascoyne Mazzini's plots and crimes is that NOT all of the family members and people Mazzini murders as he climbs the family ladder are 'rich, arrogant, horrible' people. In fact, in his first murder, there are two killed - one completely innocent of any imagined slight to Mazzini. That is also what makes us realize that we share Mazzini's 'do anything, as long as you can get away with it' attitude. It's only law enforcement that keeps us all from being murderous social/financial climbers. I absolutely LOVE 'Kind Hearts and Coronets' ... because it makes me quite certain that I'm not the only sociopath held in check merely by circumstances. Both Louis and Sybella are sociopaths ... and Louis might be better classified as a psychopath ...
Fascinates me how suddenly a load of hipster filmmakers have 'discovered' Ealing comedies, as if no-one knows about them. 3:50 'making films for the people' lol what a load of wankery. They were simply making films. Without overthinking it.
❤️
You can tell this is recent by the little homily on racism.
My heavens, these so-called film critics have absolutely nothing to say and say it very badly.
right?! lol as if they've just discovered some films no=one knew about
If any film was crying out to be made into a stage musical by Stephen Sondheim, it's "Kind Hearts and Coronets".
the d'ascoynes are not a "hellish" family they are quite normal.
despite the duke and perhaps young ascoyne nobody is
cruel or arrogant.
Even in 1949 you were not allowed to speak of them.
I was hoping to see the movie, and not hear clinical angles from people who want to seem important. Most of what they are saying is so obvious, it does not need to be said.
Too many wretched adverts!!!
