What if I told you that I'm extremely happy that you're finishing this game and as a disabled veteran your videos always give me something positive to do on a Saturday
I'm disabled as well. It's great having something this quality at this length. Even though I've beaten this game a million times since 1992. I still learned something. Take care Dude.
Disabled vets unite! I love UCBVG, it's always a pleasant notification to get ,even for games I have already beaten dozens of times like Link to the past. I even learned a couple secrets I wasn't aware of!
It's cool that you managed to get the exact right amount of detail in these videos. I legit think you're doing a thing that nobody has ever really done before. It's easy to find people talking about Zelda or playing it or speedrunning it but doing an actual step-by-step walkthrough while also being entertaining is, I think, completely novel. I wish these videos would start getting like 5M views so that it would become an entire genre.
@@reallytiredmachinist I just looked at his channel and it's exactly what I expected. It's each game broken down into dozens of parts. I guess there's nothing wrong with that but it feels like a totally different approach to UCBVG.
I agree, this channel feels the most like a friendly Nintendo Power magazine come to life than any other channel I've seen. (I'm sure there's plenty others I haven't seen yet, but I doubt they'll nail quite the same vibe)
@@lukasketner True. But some of the games Nintendo Power covered aren't as in depth, and the strategies alter a bit to still give you a run. For example. NP suggests in MegaMan 1, to tackle Bomb Man first. Which a lot of people do. Whereas UCBVG Suggests Fire Man first. The game, while beatable starting with Bomb Man, was easier with Fire Man's weapon throughout, because it didn't use as much energy as the Hyper Bomb, and was tactically just as or more effective in a number of stages.
@@youkai3785 Neat, I can't remember much from those years of my life anymore, but it sounds to me like I tried it every way I could think of, and somehow ended up remembering going with bubble 1st? to kill the fire guy or something? It's been soo long
39:33 This is the only time my mother and I needed to call the Nintendo help line. We tried bombs, wands, staves, the hammer and running into it and everything EXCEPT pulling on it. For some reason, we just never thought of it. Maybe we subconsciously thought we had already tried it? We explored the world and did as much as we could until that was the only thing left to do, gave up, and called the hotline. We felt dumb, but it was worth it. [related but off topic a little] My mom always played games with me, often taking turns at the controls of the RPG and adventure games, and defeating them together. She used to read and explain the various text with each game to me. As I got older, I read - with her help - and asked questions. I was eventually able to read and understand the games on my own. She passed away in 1999. I think one of if not the last game we beat together was OoT. There just weren't many good RPG/Adventure games for the N64. She never lived to see BioWare RPGs. She would have loved KotOR, Mass Effect and Dragon Age for example. I was able to keep the tradition going with my sister - who recently gave birth and wants to do the same with her son.
I have a 5 year old daughter who loves playing Zelda with me! Your story reminded me so much of her; because we just beat Majoras mask together, and every time there was dialogue (which there is a lot) she would ask me to read it to her! I hope we can continue to bond over games, as we are currently playing Links awakening! May your Mom rest in peace; and may she watch over you, smile and enjoy all of your RPG playthroughs from heaven!
@@brendenhassler4613 - thank you so much. Cherish those moments and I encourage you continue. my wife and I are yet to be successful with children, but we hope to do the same. I suggest that you try some beginner level Dungeons and Dragons table top adventure games with her as well.
*_My god was this nostalgic af!_* *_The Hookshot was my very favorite!!!_* *_This was easily the most epic video game of all time! The creators were absolute geniuses!_*
1:25:34 Use the Pegasus Boots to charge to the bottom of the room, then make your way to the stairs in the upper left while the traps *_Slowly_* return to their starting positions.
This is legit the best thing about the weekends. It gives me the same joy I used to feel back in the days of good Saturday morning cartoons and Lucky Charms. Thank you, good sir. Thank you.
ive never seen a...lets play? like this. i guess its more walkthrough, but ive never seen someone incorporate magazine scans too. it seems like a ton of work
There's so much stuff in this game that it would be pretty well impossible for a single person to find everything without help or without spending waaay too much time trying everything.
I already knew about the anti-faeries, but I didn't know magic powder could be used on bees as well. It's cool that even though these guides are for casual players, they still have some info that even veteran players might not know!
it never ceases to amaze me when I find out how much people don't know about this game, that I thought was all common sense, assuming you had ever beaten it before.
My grandmom got me into video games and zelda was her game. I would watch her play this all the time and remember the day she beat it. That ending got to me. Alot of good memorys.
I was surprised you avoided the bomb spiting tree after the first bomb it threw. You can speak to every tree that has eyes, they give more lore to the game and I think some may give you clues.
1:33:17 -- can't believe just about everyone who covers kholdstare misses this little tidbit: for a fraction of the cost of constant fire rod spam on the shell, you can use the bombos medallion to immediately take off his icy shell. Then with plenty of magic power you can then spam the fire rod on the three eye things in part 2... Or use the sword. That's fine too
Bombos can also be used to get through the Ice Dungeon w/o the Firerod. Funny enough, I always used Bombos on Kholdstare because the game required you to use Ether and Quake elsewhere, so I thought that boss required it.
@@shawnking6753 nope, gotta use the rods. My opinion: take out the ice head first. Not only does the ice linger for the whole battle but the fire rod shoots faster than the ice rod
Yes!! I waited all week for this!!! I played a little bit, and pressed pause and saved my game so I could pass you the controller to see how U Beat a Link To The Past.
1:32:00 One small thing you missed is that if you kill those ice enemies (the Freezors), a chest will spawn. While it just contains some bombs in the normal game, this is useful to know if you play this randomized, as I learned of this chest because it had something important for me. EDIT: 1:43:50/1:44:50 Another smallish thing, in the room at 1:43:50, if you walk on the spikes you can lift the skull to reveal a switch that reveals a chest containing the last small key, so even if you waste a key, you can still get in the room. Nicely edited and done video, btw :).
"Sadly the priest isn't there to refill your hearts....that guy's dead..." All of your videos are great but that made me crack up and may be your finest moment!
I really like how you can give a super informative walk through while staying entertaining at the exact same time (which you don’t see very often anymore) I followed both your walkthroughs and finished the whole game in one sitting. You make probably the best walkthroughs I have ever seen
One of the things that narrows down the flute without the good bee is that the boy mentions he buried it and planted some flowers. So you can just dig the parts of the grove that have flowers growing, which is still a little more time than the bee trick, but is a decent alternative to digging the whole darned place up.
This is a stunningly good video in terms of accessibility. I am visually impaired and your narration of what's going on, not just the exhausting "now go here, do this, do that, *irrelevant sidebar while I keep playing and doing things*" stuff is so welcome and welcoming. You even 'read' the cut scenes without explicitly reading everything -- these natural summaries are wonderful as well.
UCBVG is the best gaming channel on UA-cam, no one else does a full playthrough with tips and tricks and even goes back to play a section twice or more to show you other options.
If you dont feel like constantly turning around to block the Eye Lasers in Turtle Rock, you can just charge your Sword and walk sideways. Just make sure your Shield is on the side where the Laser is coming from.
Something that really helps in the ice dungeon is the Bomb Medallion, makes the rooms with the penguin guys really easy Also, something that I used to do was finish the Misery Mire dungeon first to get the Cane of Somaria and use it to push the button near the end of the ice dungeon, so I could skip going around the dungeon
I've been playing this game over and over since it originally came out in the 90s, and I think this is the first time I've seen the ice dungeon done the "legitimate" way. I always do Misery Mire first.
Same here BUT on the GBA version of the game they changed the way that SWITCH Puzzle in the Ice Palace works so that you can't USE the Red Cane at all.
@@veghesther3204 oh man, I don't like that... It restricts how the player wants to go about beating the game and makes it more linear instead of open-ended, the way I prefer Zelda, honestly
What an awesome, in depth walk through! This is my childhood, I watched my older brothers play this game & always thought to myself I can never complete this game. But now we have a NES & will try it out! I think this is the best video game ever made, especially at the time it was released. Thank you for making Part 1 & this part 2 video.
It took me two days, but I slowly made my way through the video. Honestly, having something like this to watch in my free time has been wonderful. Thank you!
I didn't know, that the good bee is helping you finding the flute. I totally agree with your words at the ending. This game is a masterpiece and one of the best memories from my childhood. Thank you very much for your videos.
Best walkthroughs on the internet. I can already beat video games, but UCBVG is so thorough and fun to watch. And I always learn 2 or 3 things I didn't now.
@@Pants69 it makes tearing through those other 2 dungeons so satisfying, you totally should! It really tones down the difficulty of the 3rd dungeon with all the Gibdos (mummies) and Wall Masters (falling hands that take you back to the entrance).
Even better: add in dungeon 6 so you can get early access to the silver arrows and lvl4 sword!!! You need to beat dungeons 5 and 6 in order for the dark world bomb shop to stock the super bomb
@@JPBrooksLive cool, man! I'll do both of these suggestions. Will definitely fix myself a nice cup of tea and start playing tomorrow after breakfast. :D
I do the same thing except I leave the temple once I get the hammer and then I do the same thing in the 4th once I get the titan mitt. Then I get the master sword tempered and then I go beat the temples in order.
For the first time I knew what video would be coming and I was so excited to see it. Love your channel brother. I had no idea about the magic bee. I still remember digging forever to find the flute. Lol. This is still my favorite game ever and I didn’t know a half dozen tricks or so
17:05: I have been playing this game for well over 20 years and I NEVER knew that you could use the Good Bee to find the Ocarina! Man, this is what I love about games like thses! You can play a title for literal decades and you STILL find new things about it! Great work as always, UCBVG!
You are narrating the walkthrough. I remember as 12 and 9 year olds my brother and I had to figure all this out with aimless exploration and trial and error. This was truly a challenging game and so satisfying to finally complete! This is the best Zelda game and will always be in the pantheon of video games!
A few helpful tips for this part of the game that weren’t mentioned, you can actually get through and beat the ice palace without the fire rod by instead using bombos on the ice golems and melting kholdstare, also the trigger to unlock the super bomb at the dark world bomb shop is having beaten both the ice palace and misery mire palace, with this information my preferred order to do the dark world dungeons is 1-4-6-5-2-3-7 this insures you’ll get the sword upgrades as soon as possible and can have the golden sword and blue mail for dungeons 2,3, and 7. I also do 6 before 5 because i like having the cane of somaria to skip the annoying block puzzle in the ice palace. just make sure to grab bombos and the 1/2 magic upgrade asap after dark palace and maybe some green potion for ice palace and it makes a really fun route!
20:27. I remember this mini-game. When I was little, I couldn´t find the last heart piece no matter have much I looked for it. It´s only much later I learned that you can get a heart piece, by playing this mini-game. What really makes me mad was, that one of my friends already had found the heart piece, but didn´t tell me about it (and he did known that I was looking for it).
Watched the whole thing, despite constantly playing the original and randomizers, I even learned a couple of things like selling the good bee/fish to the bottle merchant, or turning Grandma into a fairy lol Surprised you didnt get the ice rod before the desert palace - I think Nintendo Power recommended it as the rod works on the worm boss, 3 hits each. Also surprised you didnt get the Butter Sword and Silver Arrows before Turtle Rock - the Super Bomb appears once link collects the 5th and 6th crystals. Very well done guide, enjoyable background watch while playing other games. Thanks!
I found the imprisoned maiden immediately suspicious back in the day as everyone without the cyrstal in the dark world takes on a twisted form but she did not.
I remember getting this game for my 12th birthday and played it until I was supposed to go to bed. I couldn't wait to get home the next day from school so I could get back on. Amazing job on the video as usual and your walk-throughs of the other games you do have got me amazed years after these games came. It seems like I learn something new from every video that I honestly didn't know. Keep up the great work my friend.
This was one of my favorite games growing up. Makes me so nostalgic. Also so interesting now with the randomizer of this game keeps it popular today. You should also do super metroid. Another great and difficult session game. Great video can't wait to see more.
I already mastered this game many, many years ago, but this has been a charming stroll down Memory Lane! We appreciate these videos, TLoZ:ALttP is a classic. As usual, you expertly showed off as many details as possible, including a couple of little extra nuances that (as long as I've known this game) even I didn't know about. Triforce of the Gods/A Link to the Past is easily one of the most important games to the Zelda series, if not the most important. With its introduction of so many series staples such as the Hookshot and a generally more fleshed out narrative compared to its two predecessors. While not a series-wide or console-wide favorite of mine, I still find it rather enjoyable to play through every few years or so. This is actually the first Zelda game I ever played! Thanks for this comprehensive guide as always, I'm sure you've helped out quite a few people who might be new to this game, and made some new fans. See you next time!
Thank you so much for taking the time to share all of your videos with us all and they really come in handy when playing and getting stuck somewhere. This guide and part one is and was a really big help. This is the first time I'm playing any kind of Zelda game and I'm hooked on the Zelda games thanks to your channel 😂. Your Super Star Wars guides also helped alot too thank you again for posting these guides please keep them coming. Your channel is the best. Have a great day my friend and thank you again.
Cool playthrough. I really enjoyed this. I thought I knew a lot of secrets to the game but you showed some more. I am really enjoying this channel and thanks for doing all of these playthroughs.
Two tips for Turtle Rock! 1) Pull on the claws of the dungeon entrance for some rupees. 2) Holding down your sword button (as if prepping a charge attack) makes your shield point in a certain direction - a super-easy way to avoid the laser eyes. Love your videos - keep them coming!
This game and super metroid are still my "go to" games after all these years. This was truly the golden age of video games. Great video by the way Thank you for another great video By the way, you really should do Super Metroid as a video.
I love this channel. I'm 37 and never got a chance to play a lot of these classic games in my childhood, when they were current and I was more capable of learning and internalizing this "gamer logic." Nowadays I get laughed at by younger folks when I want to join them, but can't do things they take for granted. I'm glad that we're living in an age of remixes, remakes, and remasters, but games definitely asked more of the player back then, and I'm wary of anything that stays true to that "tradition." Thank you for teaching this elder millennial how to Git Gud.
This was part of my childhood. Wow hearing the songs again after all these years bring back menories and enotuons i didnt think i would feel. Thank you.
My dude... the 2 music references... or even all of your references in general are literal icing on the cake of your already extremely well done walk-through/play-through style. Keep up the great work. So many of these games are a walk down Nostalgia lane for many of us watching. Seriously, your on to something here. Can't wait to see what you have lined up next! Have a great day!
It isn't silly, Erick, we all go through rough patches, and tbh, I am going through one right now as well, and UCBVG is absolutely something I look forward to on Saturdays as well. I wish you all the best, and want you to know that some random UA-cam commenter is rooting for you.
@@FallingXion Thank you, your encouragement is welcomed. Hope your struggles cease sooner rather than later. I rarely post any comment and don’t have social media, so its cool to hear from others in a community like this.
My theory is that if a Wise Man had no descendant then the magic of that Wise Man simply would have disappeared from the world, and Agahnim would not have been required to offer up a maiden to break that part of the seal. Another possibility is that the Wise Man's magic would have returned to his respective temple, and then Agahnim would have been required to seek out a descendant of a more recent Sage from that temple, if not that existing Sage. So if the Wise Man of Fire had no descendants, Agahnim either would have offered up no one at all, or if an offering was required, it would have to be Darunia or Link. Goron Link, that is. As for Zelda's comment about her always feeling that Link was the Legendary Hero, at the time this likely referred to when Link saved her in The Legend of Zelda. But since Ocarina of Time, this would refer to their meeting in the courtyard. That's why Ocarina of Time included dialogue about Zelda having a dream about Link appearing like a ray of light from the forest. It also explains why she was so quick to trust Link with the task of claiming the Triforce. And yes, this is the fifth time Link has saved this Zelda. Once in Ocarina, once in the Oracle games, once in Legend of Zelda, Adventure of Link was a different Zelda, and twice in A Link to the Past. 2:16:16 I think you can use the Fire Rod to light that torch from the upper platform to reveal the path. The Triforce grants all wishes of its wielder, not just one. Also, it wasn't explained in A Link to the Past, but Ganon never actually touched the Triforce in this game. Ocarina explains that simply entering the Sacred Realm will turn it good or bad depending on the person's heart. So the Essence of the Triforce, in context of the larger plot, was explaining that Ganon's wish to conquer the world is what turned the Sacred Realm into the Dark World. It was from there that Ganon planned to build his power, then send out his army to take over Hyrule as well. The fact Ganon was just a spirit means he couldn't touch the Triforce anyway, which is why its Essence says Ganon was trying to make his wish come completely true. Ganon also mentions this before the battle with Link. Regarding Agahnim, I think the game implies that Agahnim was one of Ganon's underlings, and allowed Ganon's soul to possess him to augment his powers. That's why Ganon rises out of Agahnim's body when Link kills him. Ganon was a spirit in Link to the Past, which makes sense following Adventure of Link where he was dead and his minions were trying to resurrect him using Link's blood. This is why the Essence of the Triforce confirms to Link that he completely destroyed Ganon. Meaning, even Ganon's soul no longer exists since it was destroyed directly. Ganon never broke through the Wise Men's seal. He was dead since Legend of Zelda, and merely contacted Agahnim as a spirit. Speaking with the dead is pretty common in the Zelda series. If you're asking about Ganon breaking out of the seal after the Wise Men cast it, the short answer is that Ganon wasn't sealed in the Dark World by the Wise Men. The long answer involves going through the various iterations of the Zelda timeline, which no one wants to read about. Uh... I think the Zora just has multiple pairs of flippers for sale. I think the implication of the Master Sword sleeping forever was that Ganon had been destroyed and the Sacred Realm turned into a paradise. And the seal was back in place, with the warps closed and those trapped in the Sacred Realm sent back to Hyrule. So there would never be any need to use the Master Sword again. Link to the Past is basically the end of the series, aside from side quests such as Link's Awakening.
You're making a lot of crucial mistakes here. First off, Ganondorf is 100% *alive* in this game. That makes sense, as he killed Link in Ocarina of Time, took all three Triforce pieces and wished to rule the world, transforming the Golden Land into the Dark World (and Ganondorf into Ganon). Some time later, when Hyrule had fallen into decay, the seven Sages sealed Ganon away in the Sacred Realm, after which it looked like peace and stability returned. However, people started learning about the Triforce and the entrance to the Golden land and started looking for it. None would return (probably due to the power of the Golden Land preventing them from using their weapons). Then, evil power started flowing from the seal, a sign that it was weakening, and Ganon started influencing a priest called Agahnim to help him break the seal. He sets out to find the seven maidens, descendants of the seven Sages, and brings them one by one to Ganon, who then locks them up in the various palaces. This breaks the seal of the Sages, and Link has to stop him, before the seal opens wide enough for Ganon to pass through and attack Hyrule proper. Link kills Ganon's body, but his spirit remains (because of Demise's curse), and eventually returns in the Oracle games, A Link Between Worlds, the Legend of Zelda, and Breath of the Wild (though he will have lost all his humanity by that time).
@@AO968 You're going off the horribly wrong Nintendo "timeline". Link never dies in any of the games, and if he did, there's nothing anyone could have done to stop Ganon in that case. If Ganon got all the Triforce parts, he would basically be a deity, and Zelda would have been dead, meaning no Seven Sages sealing anything away. The Nintendo "timeline" doesn't work. Throw it in the trash. If the Seven Sages sealed the Dark World, then how did people fall into it and go missing? The Link to the Past backstory states people were getting lost in the Dark World before the Seven Wise Men sealed it, not after. Yeah, you're mixing up the order of events. The backstory claims the Wise Men sealed the realm after Ganondorf entered it, and that after sealing it, the evil power no longer flowed from the realm into Hyrule. No, the prologue states that Hyrule was plagued by cataclysms. The King ordered people to investigate the Wise Men's seal, but they found nothing wrong with it. Then Agahnim showed up and used magic to quell the cataclysms, and he was honored as a hero. That's how he insinuated himself into the King's inner circle. Turns out, he was the one causing the cataclysms in the first place. If Ganon was alive, why didn't he just cross over into Hyrule immediately? First, the Demise storyline is dumb. Second, even if you want to recognize Skyward Sword as canon, I think that game actually ends with Link obliterating Demise and his curse completely. I guess it's open to interpretation. But no, Link definitely destroys Ganon completely in A Link to the Past. The Essence of the Triforce says so. The Oracle games take place after Majora's Mask, and before Legend of Zelda. That explains why Komue and Kotake are alive. They were never killed in the original timeline. If you think the Oracles follow the end of Ocarina of Time in a timeline where Link died, then you must admit Komue and Kotake died as well. So yeah, we saw Ganon rise out of Agahnim's body. He was a spirit. Link to the Past also follows Adventure of Link, during which Ganon was dead and his minions were trying to resurrect him by getting Link's blood. If you think Legend of Zelda came after, you'd have to explain how he managed to get the Triforce of Power again. Hate to break this to you, but when the writers made Wind Waker, they threw the entire Zelda timeline and it's lore right out the window. And the storyline has been nonsense ever since. Now the series is just a cash cow.
Quick heads-up: the strange enemies (looks like a cluster of stars) can also be turned into faeries, if you use the magic powder on them as soon as they're revealed (but before they start moving). Or, if you know one's hidden in a skull/under a block, use the magic powder before you pick it up (the block/skull).
Another strategy for Ganon's tower room with the invisible floors - (2:17:00) - you can use the visible walkway to get to the upper left, and use your fire rod to thread the needle and light the torch. Saves you MP vs using your ether (unless you get the right drops from the frozen baddies). Great video!
The super bomb (and therefore the silver arrows and golden sword) actually unlocks before Turtle Rock dungeon. The actual requirement is having rescued the swordsmith and defeated the bosses of both the Ice Palace and Misery Mire. I've played through LttP so many times at this point that I like to save as many bosses as possible until after getting the silver arrows, because all boss monsters that aren't immune to arrows take massive damage from them. Another great video, keep up the good work!
Link to the past, and the n64 Zelda are the only Zelda's I completed without guides.. This was b4 the UA-cam era..lol Excellent, fun, and adventurous!!.💯
Only video where the player does the smart thing by doing thieves hideout asap to get the master sword upgrade asap. No one else dies that. Great walkthrough.
I bought Zelda ALTTP when it first came out in 1992. The SNES was really MY system growing up and to this day. By far the very best in my opinion, and getting in on the ground floor with it (unlike the NES it took me about 4 years to get), I was completely engulfed in its whole era and works. It’s actually still the only system that I still have my original of, with its box and all paperwork, along with 5 of my favorite games, also in perfect condition with their boxes. But Zelda for SNES was the game that I knew EVERYthing about. Despite how deep a game it was and still is. That being said, my mind was totally blown that I discovered just two new things about it in your video. One, the “Good Bee”. I never ever even heard of that, or that it could be used to fight the moth boss or show you the area to dig for the flute. Second, while I always found the Cane of Bryna, I never found too much use for it. I was just a completionist and got it. But using it on the moth boss, or a few others to avoid damage while also getting a few extra hits in addition to your sword? Brilliant! I probably knew 99.999% of every trick, strategy, and item in this game, but it blows my mind that after 30 years and playing it completely through countless times, that there was still something I didn’t know. But in my defense, I never bought strategy guides, it was a pre-internet time when this came out, and I just liked discovering everything on my own.
Once again you've entertained my wife and I with not only playing the game but also at certain times having something really funny to say at certain times. Thank you again for showing us how to beat a CLASSIC and showing me and others secrets we didn't know. There were 7 things I didn't even know and I've beaten this game several times. Thanks again dude
In Turtle Rock 2B the southernmost room, the eye beam room with numerous chests, you can also charge your sword so your shield is always facing the eyes while you loot the chests. Also, you could've upgraded your sword to the rank 4 Golden Sword and arrows to silver arrows before Turtle Rock.
So many small mechanics I missed even through completing this game several times. Amazing. 1. Taking the good bee or fish to the trader in the village. 2. Powder on the anti-fairy 3. Using the good bee in the grove to find the flute or in certain boss fights 4. The result of throwing rupees and having great luck or bad luck 5. Using Ether magic to see the hidden floors.
Loving these detailed walkthrough with maps, guide and tips. We don’t get these type of strategy guide videos on UA-cam, it’s just some one quietly playing the game or a speed run. These contents are pretty much appreciated.
You're doing good work brother. Having to wait for this part two to come out was brutal but your strategy worked I'm excited to sit down and watch and relax with a drink in my hand.
LttP is one of my favorite games of all time. I've probably legitimately played it through it dozens of times. For me, Dark World dungeon order is 1, 4, 2, 3, 6, 5, 7, 8. Obviously as you showed in the video getting the Level 3 sword early helps a lot with 2 & 3. And I don't care for the block stuff in 5, so I grab the Cane of Somaria from 6 first and use that to make 5 easier/faster.
I played this game on original hardware not long after it first came out while in my early teens and it is easily one of my all-time favorite games. But even having played it so much over the years there were still a few tricks I was unaware of, like using the magic powder on anti-faeries, so thank you for teaching an old dog some new tricks! Thanks for the great videos and stay safe out there!
Thank you so much for this. I remember spending hours playing this as a kid and honestly I don’t think I ever made it to the dark world. I want to thank you for two things, ll. I also want to thank you for helping me experience this amazing game that still holds the test of time! Also for helping me complete a part of my childhood, a link to the past if you will….. I am on my way to Ganon’s Tower! Wish me luck!
Beautifully done!!!. My only addition is that when you charge your sword your shield rises on the other hand. That side is covered. You can use that covered side to stop incoming projectiles, even the lasers later in the game.
After nearly 43 years on this rock, I finally was able to beat this legit and vanilla for the first time today! I love the SMZ3 randomizer, but I always have gotten hung up in Zelda sections because I'd never played all the way through. But your guide, like every other one you put out, is well structured and comprehensive, and it definitely helped me! Thank you! Also, if you ever have the inkling to go back and redo some of your very first videos, I'd love to collab with you on TMNT 1 on the NES! I speedrun the game (20:44, Any%) and know of some real tasty tech that wasn't covered in your video that you might be interested in knowing about.
I loved this game so much since I was a kid… I’ve finished with all items and hearts and I did learn tricks here…. I remember being Ice palace my nightmare… at the credits when you see the times you restarted/continued a dungeon… all was in zero except for the ice palace that was like 30 times…. Then I did learn how to and managed to do it without fail… great memories
Loved this guide! One of my most played games ever, and NEVER noticed the good bee, or that he located the ocarina. Well done, sir. A note: First visit to Kakariko, there's a shed in the lower left part of town. You can use 1 bomb to open, and go inside and stock up on bombs there. :)
What if I told you that I'm extremely happy that you're finishing this game and as a disabled veteran your videos always give me something positive to do on a Saturday
💪🙏😎
I'm disabled as well. It's great having something this quality at this length. Even though I've beaten this game a million times since 1992. I still learned something. Take care Dude.
Chris and Stuart thanks for your service brother
@@johngavalas712 I appreciate it Sir. I'm not a veteran. I know it's the internet, I have to correct that. Take care.
Sweet Johnny Cage does a real go guide for this game. That's how I beat this game.

This is the only time my mother and I needed to call the Nintendo help line.
[related but off topic a little]
My mom always played games with me, often taking turns at the controls of the RPG and adventure games, and defeating them together.
My mother also passed when I was in my teens as I am assuming you were as well. 1997.
Thanks for sharing your memories.

ive never seen a...lets play? like this. i guess its more walkthrough, but ive never seen someone incorporate magazine scans too. it seems like a ton of work
Can’t believe I played through this game multiple times back in the day and never knew about anti faeries and magic powder. 🤦🏻♂️
There's so much stuff in this game that it would be pretty well impossible for a single person to find everything without help or without spending waaay too much time trying everything.
Magic powder also works on the yellow blobs that turn you into bunny Link, but you have to be quick to about it (hitting them as soon as they appear).
I hear you, I only found out about that by accident in Link's Awakening.
Was your granmom an ex hippie?
lol
I was surprised you avoided the bomb spiting tree after the first bomb it threw. You can speak to every tree that has eyes, they give more lore to the game and I think some may give you clues.
Link to the past is a masterpiece, but this walkthrough is a masterpiece in itself. Great job!
Loved the reference to the old Raccoon’s cartoon. That was an underrated show. Great work, as always on this!
That's fine too
Played this through a thousand times.
LEGIT DIDNT KNOW THIS!!?
@@shawnking6753 yeah that's what I thought.. and was referring to
Bombos can also be used to get through the Ice Dungeon w/o the Firerod. Funny enough, I always used Bombos on Kholdstare because the game required you to use Ether and Quake elsewhere, so I thought that boss required it.
What about the turtle rock boss? It sure would be nice to take those first two heads out with a couple medallions.
Always loved the end credits. Brings a tear to my eye when the original song plays.

Even after all these years, I still remember how it felt seeing the credits roll, and hearing that music for the first time.
Same, beat it the other day and end credits made me cry ...powerful stuff.

I’ve been eagerly awaiting Part II! One of my favorite games from my teenage years!!
This Contra 3 and Turtles In Time were my go to
@Gambit Odsey so did i great times!
I didn't even know the Good Bee showed the location of the Flute. I learned that from this guide!
And that will be the right side unless your facing East. Link is a lefty so the shield is in his right hand.

Something that really helps in the ice dungeon is the Bomb Medallion, makes the rooms with the penguin guys really easy
Also, something that I used to do was finish the Misery Mire dungeon first to get the Cane of Somaria and use it to push the button near the end of the ice dungeon, so I could skip going around the dungeon
I've been playing this game over and over since it originally came out in the 90s, and I think this is the first time I've seen the ice dungeon done the "legitimate" way. I always do Misery Mire first.
I'm doing it exactly the same way. I always thought i was weird for doing that.
Also RE: Bombos medallion and Ice Dungeon, it takes out the boss's protective ice in 1 hit instead of 8 hits with the Fire Rod

@@Pants69 it makes tearing through those other 2 dungeons so satisfying, you totally should! It really tones down the difficulty of the 3rd dungeon with all the Gibdos (mummies) and Wall Masters (falling hands that take you back to the entrance).

You are narrating the walkthrough. I remember as 12 and 9 year olds my brother and I had to figure all this out with aimless exploration and trial and error. This was truly a challenging game and so satisfying to finally complete! This is the best Zelda game and will always be in the pantheon of video games!
Sames. Spent 4 hours a day after school for weeks just trying everything until we figured it out.
There is an issue with this: Mothula is immune to the Level 4 sword, thanks to a bug in the game.
Also good to find the heartpices
Had no idea about the ones in the chestgame and diggame
@xanthamew. Irrelevant, as you can kill him with the fire rod as intended.
@@Xanthemew if you have the gold sword, then you have silver arrows. Silver arrows one shot most enemies.
Not a bad idea, but I still think 1-4-2-3-6-5-7 is optimal considering dungeons 2 and 3 aren't hard enough to justify delaying, imo.
20:27. I remember this mini-game. When I was little, I couldn´t find the last heart piece no matter have much I looked for it. It´s only much later I learned that you can get a heart piece, by playing this mini-game. Same. I need one last heart piece as well... I'm sure this is where it was. I probably didn't dig fast enough when I was 12 lol
Watched the whole thing, despite constantly playing the original and randomizers, I even learned a couple of things like selling the good bee/fish to the bottle merchant, or turning Grandma into a fairy lol
Surprised you didnt get the ice rod before the desert palace - I think Nintendo Power recommended it as the rod works on the worm boss, 3 hits each.
Also surprised you didnt get the Butter Sword and Silver Arrows before Turtle Rock - the Super Bomb appears once link collects the 5th and 6th crystals.

I found the imprisoned maiden immediately suspicious back in the day as everyone without the cyrstal in the dark world takes on a twisted form but she did not.

I bet this game for the first time the other day. Sadly when you started your guide I was on Dungeon 6 😭😭. Thanks for all you do.
Fantastic guide helped me beat game for first
Oh yeah! Let's do this. One of my top 3 SNES games. I'm curious as to how to beat it in 3 minutes.
If you time it right, you can hit Agahnim with all 3 energy balls, essentially doing triple damage
AKA a "pilfer run" where you pilfer all the treasures before beating the stuffings out of the helplessly weak bosses.
Keep up the great work you can beat video games! This game is still one of the best and will always be the best of classics for the SNES
I love both the jokes and the detailed play-by-play you do an awesome job at making these videos!
Link to the past, and the n64 Zelda are the only Zelda's I completed without guides..
This was b4 the UA-cam era..lol
Excellent, fun, and adventurous!!.💯
Who cares about your wife
Dude, the Raccoon’s cartoon! Hahahaha! Niiice. 😂🤣🤣
When you said the boss of the watergate dungeon was nixon all i could think of was his head in a jar from futurama
Never played this game, but a huge Zelda fan since OOT. The Dark World Theme is absolutely brilliant!
2. Powder on the anti-fairy
3. Using the good bee in the grove to find the flute or in certain boss fights
4. The result of throwing rupees and having great luck or bad luck
5. Using Ether magic to see the hidden floors.
love that intro
Loving these detailed walkthrough with maps, guide and tips. We don’t get these type of strategy guide videos on UA-cam, it’s just some one quietly playing the game or a speed run. These contents are pretty much appreciated.
Still say best Zelda and in history
Great run
You're doing good work brother. Having to wait for this part two to come out was brutal but your strategy worked I'm excited to sit down and watch and relax with a drink in my hand.
arrows were super OP, I think they did it on purpose maybe, to hint at them being the key to the end
The super bomb is available after Misery Mire is defeated, so it's best to get the Golden Sword and Silver Arrows before heading to Turtle Rock.
3:27 when you move, they move - just like that… 😂 couldn’t resist. Thanks so much for the uploads
Luda!
I remember getting this game for christmas, and I played it non stop. I loved this game. Thanks for the trip down memory lane X)
No cheesy ending here. You walk into the Triforce room and feel it. Great ending to a great game. And great playthrough
Beautifully done!!!. My only addition is that when you charge your sword your shield rises on the other hand. That side is covered. You can use that covered side to stop incoming projectiles, even the lasers later in the game.
Please continue these type of games even after you are famous with 1m subscribers
I've been playing this game on & off since it came out and thanks to your videos I'm still learning things I never knew
Can we all agree that the music and end credits for a link to the past is great? Second to super metroid ending music and end credits.
Super Metroid music in general is fantastic. Hopefully he does a video on that game In he future
@@sickofitall8486 same here
2:43:22 My favorite Easter Egg - The score transitions into the Zelda 1 theme just as Koji Kondo's name crosses the Triforce
Heck yes, BEEN WAITING FOR THIS. can’t wait to watch this later. Thanks!
