Thank you for the kind words! Ever since this series came out I wanted to talk about it but never did. Finally I decided to just type out my thoughts on the subject and make a video. Super happy people are enjoying.
Great, well-spoken and thought out video, I couldn't agree more with your take here on Optimus. It still really blows me away how many people are STILL panning this comic as "the same old set up as G1." True, there have been the basic story setup commonalities so far (the war came to Earth aboard the Ark where both sides have lain dormant and the 3 humans they have interacted with the most have been 3 of the G1 humans) but this really has been a wonderful new telling of the classic story in MANY new ways. Here, have a sub, looking forward to hearing your continued analysis amd thoughts as this series continues and on other TF media 🍻
I’ll be honest, when IDW lost the rights to Transformers and Skybound aquired them, I tried to avoid it because of the art style, but when I picked it up, there was no other words to describe this masterpiece, and I have been invested in the entirely of the Energon Universe.
A couple of weeks ago, I watched this video and was inspired to find the first volume (which I did) and I just want to thank you for leading me to read it myself because I was never a big reader of the IDW comics, mostly due to the sheer number and discovering their epic stories a bit late to the point that I was unable to collect them. But now I'm happy that I got on board for this run because it's been so incredible so far, so thank you Delta Trion once again for leading me to discover this great series that I'm eager to see where it'll lead. Sincerely a new Subscriber.
Thank you for taking the time to leave such a heartfelt comment! I, glad that I was able to get you into the Skybound run! IDW has some great stuff in it, but yes, there’s so much of it it is daunting. Thanks for the comment and the sub 🩷🩷🩷
You captured why I love Skybound Optimus, and indeed his whole character in general, so perfectly. I’m making a rewrite of Dark of the Moon, where he’s largely still the same "war veteran" who is fierce in battle, but is still gentle when he can be, and often is. He knows Sam is still going through life at his own pace, and the Autobots are almost like children to him, at least the ”younger" ones are. The ending will be changed so Megatron words his truce slightly differently and it’s almost reached, but something happens ( what that something is I won’t reveal ) so it isn’t, and he isn’t killed by Optimus, just as a spoiler. Sentinel won’t be killed either, because I didn’t like how execution-ish his death felt. "Be strong enough to be gentle" is what I’m going to try and make my rendition of Bayverse Optimus out to be.
This analysis makes me realize, Superman and Optimus would probably be good friends. But, there’d also probably be long, serious moments on the hardships they’ve endured. Especially with their origins. Both lost their homes, and despite all the pain, they both hold the world on their backs.
I really like Skybound's run so far. Some things i would've done differently but that's simply a matter of personal preference. One thing i will say is that a lot of classic characters die very early on. Which i think, while effective to show the brutality of this war, can lead to wasting a lot of character potential if it's done too often. But we'll see how it pans out. We're still very early in the story and it can go in a lot of different ways.
They're all low on energon and cybertronian tech. There's room in the story for the authors to literally rebuild the dead characters way later into the story that doesn't feel cheap or hokey.
I think what makes him so great here is that he isn't robot Jesus. He screws up sometimes, he makes mistakes and yet it seems like the world is trying to force him to be robot Jesus. The world forces all this pressure on him and he's just doing his best.
To avoid spoilers, the development of the relationship between OP and Spike after issue 6 is so enthralling. To see OP struggling with the concepts when it was already shown how foreign human ideas and roles can be to Cybertronians makes great reading, drama, and character development.
It’s sad that everyone looks up to Optimus for the answers and what to do next where they forget that Optimus is just as scared as they are and confused just like them, his choices have consequences for all involved and it haunts him all the time, he blames himself for every death. War for Cybertron got this pretty well just like this comic series. It’s no wonder he fell in love with Earth because of it’s beauty, he doesn’t want it’s beauty to be tarnished by the war.
I would also argue that Optimus in the bayverse was a grizzled veteran, but it only really hits after his death. Up until that point he was rather kind and soft hearted. In the first movie he showed no signs of that 'psycho' energy he has in the third movie. I suspect the idea was a prime who had died and realized it was cause he hesitated. Took a moment to worry about sam and paid for it. The last words he heard was "You're so weak" from megatron. And what does he do when he comes back. He goes right for the throat and win, destroying the fallens spark and tearing off his face. In the third he is still good and speak respectfully to the care he cares for or works with. But he has become a no nonsense fighter, he can't afford to hesitate, not like last time. They must kill the decepticons or this will never end. Hence why he doesn't give Megatron the out he asked for. Cause he could no longer trust that megatron would stay away for good. By the fourth movie he now has to see hiw own supposed allies slaughter his people and even breaks his no killing humans rule just to save another human. The way I see it is a leader who's been beaten down. Endless war, himself dying, his mentor betraying him, betrayed by the humans twice or more, seen his friends die by the enemy and supposed allies. And yet through it all he still believe his core tenants, life deserves to live for themselves. And he never truly drops that idea, nor does he ever truly stop trusting humans. It's not perfectly, definetly not. Bayverse has a tendency to focus on the humans too much and leave out important scenes that could explain Optimus' mental stability in quieter scenes. Instead..... we need a B plot about age laws for dating couples.....
When faced with the ability to save, Optimus is willing to destroy himself, in order to end it. End the bloodshed. end the destruction. end the war. He wants it all to end, and so, goes to extremes to do it, without realizing it. He's mentally damaged, and the story portrays this. In battlefront, he's a Demi-God of War... In the home front, he's a broken soul. . . And all he wants, is to heal what he can.
I'm getting into transformers alot now since the new transformers movie. But watching this video got me hooked into looking into the transformer comics

Idealism brings hope to a brutal and morally gray War. While other characters become consumed by ambition or revenge, naive belief in peace and cooperation inspires others, even if briefly, to question their motivations. His presence serves as a reminder of a moral compass that many seem to lose.

They brought back Optimus Prime from the Marvel comics to Skybound \😃/ The noble Optimus Prime is finally back. The way I see this is the only difference between them both is Skybound OP is less experienced than the Marvel version as Optimus statements seems to be only a thousand or so years old. And this is the version readers can truly claim once again even Thor's Mjolnir is not even worthy to be wielded by Optimus Prime.
@christiancrusader9374 Because cars are moving very fast and deer tend to suddenly jump out of the bushes Into roads. Optimus is walking very slowly and not being remotely quiet.
If we take a "name is your destiny" stance, his name, orion pax, literally translating to "great hunter peace", or, "great hunter of peace", we know he was always destined to be the one to bring peace to cybertron
I never really liked it when people mischaracterized bayverse optimus. He's not psychotic. He's someone who's had to endure eons of war while watching as his fellow remaining autobots were being slaughtered left and right on earth. He isn't psychotic, he's someone who's fed up with everything he's had to go through. So of course he's going to take matters more serious than others and do what it takes to end the fight.

I'm genuinely shocked that you haven't gotten the subs and views you deserve man, but I feel you'll grow like a mighty oak. Outstanding first video to say the least
Thank you for the kind words! Ever since this series came out I wanted to talk about it but never did. Finally I decided to just type out my thoughts on the subject and make a video. Super happy people are enjoying.
Helluva debut video.
Optimus really said "What the hell is this?"
In the thumbnail.
For those who don't know,
That's a Devil May Cry 4 reference.
@@itsahostiletakeover thank you for all the kind words my friend!
This is awesome for a first video dude
I've also been loving the Skybound comics I loved idw and was sad when it ended
Finally stopped and watched this whole video. Says so many things beautifully that I’ve had rolling around in my head.
Such a well-written character they gave to prime and I also love this video explaining about him and his character! You did a really good job!
Thanks so much! Lots more coming to the channel soon
@@DeltaTrion Sounds like fun!!!
Enjoyed your take!
I love it when we get a different version of characters like armada stars cream
I was so immersed with this portrayal, the character, his nuances, for a second I almost they were going full-on Larry with him. That's insane.
This video deserves more views, amazing video man.
optimus what a character, and the defention of not giving up
You captured why I love Skybound Optimus, and indeed his whole character in general, so perfectly.
Robot Jesus 😭🙌🏾
I think what makes him so great here is that he isn't robot Jesus. He screws up sometimes, he makes mistakes and yet it seems like the world is trying to force him to be robot Jesus. The world forces all this pressure on him and he's just doing his best.
@oj9690 that humility is clearly how the mahidi would behave! As it is written!
Optimus prime or orian pax
Is a noble hero and the last of the prime.
Till one are one!
To avoid spoilers, the development of the relationship between OP and Spike after issue 6 is so enthralling. To see OP struggling with the concepts when it was already shown how foreign human ideas and roles can be to Cybertronians makes great reading, drama, and character development.

Thought that was Ratchet speaking for a bit
Great video by the way!
loved this video essay (if that's what you'd call it)! quick & to the point. i nearly teared up towards the end.
I miss this warm side of Optimus. Its an imtegral part of his character thats been missing for awhile now
I would also argue that Optimus in the bayverse was a grizzled veteran, but it only really hits after his death.
In the home front, he's a broken soul. . . And all he wants, is to heal what he can.
i just realized that you only have less than 1k subs. Jesus christ you are underrated as hell bro. keep it up
Thanks for the love 💕
I'm getting into transformers alot now since the new transformers movie. But watching this video got me hooked into looking into the transformer comics
Damn man, you got me in the feels. well done.
Thanks for the love! More videos in the pipeline ❤️
This is my first live comic. Let alone transformers comic and I'm absolutely loving it. I look forward to the new issue every month.
Of all the comments on this video I’m amazed no one is talking about how good his narration of it is so great job
I've been in this fandom for ten years now. Just found your channel, and as a HUGE fan of the Skybound comics, I'm loving your reviews! Keep up the great work! Would love to see you tackle the other parts of the Energon Universe, ESPECIALLY Void Rivals!
Thank you for the kind words! Glad to hear there’s people wanting these types of videos for Void Rivals. I feel as if that series is not getting much love.
@@DeltaTrion Agreed! I am a HUGE fan of Robert Kirkman (Walking Dead, Invincible and Outcast are some of my favorite comics), and it's so cool to see him writing for my favorite franchise. I'd love to hear your takes on Void Rivals!
I'm glad somebody is talking about this comic. It's so fucking cool.
This video gained my sub, love it!
Thank you for the love and sub! Really keeps my engines going to make more
Great video and use of background music !
Peter Cullins once said "Be strong enough to be gentle."
Great breakdown of what makes this iteration so special.
this channel is definitely underrated, with the quality and everything.
I appreciate the love! Trying to build a good community here with my thoughts 💜
Idealism brings hope to a brutal and morally gray War. While other characters become consumed by ambition or revenge, naive belief in peace and cooperation inspires others, even if briefly, to question their motivations. His presence serves as a reminder of a moral compass that many seem to lose.
Fabulous video! This came across my recommended feed at the perfect time as I'm currently working on my own video about Optimus Prime, skybound prime included. I'm with you on being completely sucked in by this run, johnson's writing is top notch, Johnson and corona's art is beautiful, and spicer's coloring is just perfect. So happy for you that you've been already finding some success within these first couple videos, you're doing great. 👍
They brought back Optimus Prime from the Marvel comics to Skybound \😃/
The noble Optimus Prime is finally back.
The way I see this is the only difference between them both is Skybound OP is less experienced than the Marvel version as Optimus statements seems to be only a thousand or so years old.
And this is the version readers can truly claim once again even Thor's Mjolnir is not even worthy to be wielded by Optimus Prime.
Movie prime is just built different
Bro, he aint built different, he’s just built WRONG.
Built insane
Great Video! definitely turning out to be a great comic run
Man bro you're videos are awesome and underated :D
Keep it going!!! I love this video so much.
that was such a good video man.
Glad you enjoyed it! Got many more coming ❤️
This is the reason why Optimus is my favorite "super hero"
Long live the one and only Prime!!!!!!!!!!! Optimus Prime 🦾❤️🔥💥👑
Damn bro, you deserve more attention bro
Thanks for the kind words ❤️
Need more TF content like this loving this skybound run so far
I'm very curious how Optimus was able to step on a deer. Those things are skittish as hell and fast to boot.
How do they get hit by cars then?
I don't want any more Transformers movies until I see this movie.
Keep the content coming! Great video.
