That Lite Tackle has my attention for sure. Simplicity is key for me... I don't want a mini bass boat just something simple and high quality for fishing.
SORRY 4 CAPS, YOU REALLY MADE A GREAT VIDEO, THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME I REALLY APPRECIATE IT. YOU ALSO PUT A LOT OF THOUGHT INTO YOUR VIDEOS THAT A BEGINNER LIKE ME WOULDN'T EVEN THINK OF. THANKS AGAIN
Had an opportunity today to paddle the Crescent Ultralite 10.2, took it home w/ me, it'll be perfect for slow water & some lakes we frequent; I'm 200 lbs, & found it very stable as well as easy paddling, & the layout is simple but functional, wife also loves it...compared to my Tarpon 100, it seems quicker & will get plenty of use fishing. The folks at Outdoor Journeys here in Virginia were a pleasure to do business w/, nice to have a light throw & go...
The sit inside yak looks awsome. The fact that ya can stand up and fish is amazing to me. Get the stability of an on top yak with the cutting ability of an inside yak. Speechless
I chose a vibe sea ghost 110 over the Jackson bite and I couldn't be happier. I love the storage options. The new hatch is really functionable and works great when you're on the water.
The Crescent yaks are very appealing to me. I bought one of the first wave Nucanoe Flints last year. Its been a great kayak but I'm really considering selling it for one of the Crescents. This was a great video and I love the reviews by your staff great job once again!!
I agree with the below. This video and any like them are enriching, especially when there isn't a dealer nearby that carries this class or variety, and therefore doesn't have all the information available that you provide. I believe this is the vid that caused me to subscribe. Thanks!
I just picked up a Big fish 120 for $700, thanks to the reviews done by you guys i feel like i made a good choice. I did also follow the advise of getting ahold of a good paddle, i went with a werner shuna. This is my second paddling boat, the first being a colman 15' tandem conoe.
Thanks for producing this vid. As a kayak newbie it answers a lot of questions and also generates a few more. Hoping the current shortages ends soon so dealers can replenish their stock.
Bought my wife a Vibe Yellowfin 100 last year. Really good stable and dependable boat. Your videos are the best. You describe every detail and all the yaks are awesome. I like the Crescents as well. Maybe next yr get one. Keep doing the videos, your the best.
Great video. Informative. Impartial. Hits the bullet points prospective buyers want to know. The dealer insight is the cherry on top. Kayak comparisons are my favorite videos you do. Been known to watch them more than once. And I already have a Sea Ghost 130!
If I were to have to choose based on color only, it would be between the Galaxy Vibe and the Citron Crescent. Both are eye catching. Great vid as always. Keep it up!
Since I just bought a Sea Ghost 130 (Galaxy) from you, I gotta say I love it. Without the rudder deployed it tracks straight against river current and a slight cross breeze. Can't wait to get it on the delta. Another great video Dan.
Nice job! Looking for a light, roof transport fishing kayak. I'd like efficiency, standing area and good tracking: I don't want to "push water." I'll use it in High Sierra lakes, coastal rivers, Delta tributaries and maybe calm water on the Coast. Nothing too rough. Learning a lot and narrowing down what I really would like to do. Also, thinking of a tandem that I can use solo if I want or a solo I can use in tandem but I might not have the roof transport space. Thanks.
I really like the Crescent kayaks I was thinking about getting one earlier this year. But for the same price I picked up a Lifetime Yukon on sale for $400 and a Bending Branches Angler carbon fiber paddle. The Yukon is actually very similar to the Crescent kayaks.
I look forward to these videos every year, I have a 14 foot V-hull with a 18hp Evinrude but I wait year by year for Kayak companies to compete with the price I payed for it. They are getting close!
Im in Canada where we dont have access to a good selection of kayaks. Your show gives me a lot of information, even years later i can still see what i am looking for, but like your other commentors are saying, an annual update would be veryy helpful. I want a Hobie, but they are not easy to find up here. Im thinking of a hull style that would be as good in bad weather as Hobie does! Thank you so much! Im sorry i cant do business with you but i am subscribed. Take care Dan!
Thanks for the walk-through! I've got a deposit on a RS 117 that should be here pretty soon. If I can make a video suggestion, maybe a primer on what you would consider mandatory safety equipment for a kayak trip. As a complete noob, these are the kinds of questions I've got coming up. Thanks for the great information!
This video was very helpful to me in choosing a kayak while shopping, but I am currently dealing with a very frustrating situation with my purchase of a Bonafide RS117. I did try to purchase from headwaters, but you guys dont ship so I had to go elsewhere since I'm east coast. So I was just going to get the red rs117z but then while looking for a dealer I came across a "special edition" RS117 that I fell in love with immediately. In the picture it was a camouflage "ish" pattern of red, black, white and grey, but what I got was yellow and oranges blotches dropped on reds, browns & greys. On top of that, in the picture of the kayak where I bought it from and on this video, the foot rests are on a nice metal track and the foot rests themselves are the kind that easily allow you to attach the yak attack rudder with lock in place or free motion. What I got was a plastic rail with a plastic foot rest that has a red lever behind it that only locks the foot rest in place. The handles for front and back were for the SS series and will not fit on the RS series. The "dry" hatch is not waterproof, I haven't had it in the water, this is what Big Aventures told me... Big adventures in North Carolina bought out Bonafide, so they are now made in North Carolina, not South Carolina. I would have preferred to give my business to a kayak manufacturer not only in the USA, but in the four states that do not tax sales or retirement (Deleware, South Carolina, Florida, Texas). I am currently dealing with Big Outdoors and Caney Fork Outdoors to resolve the problems and they are being very good working with me. I've been working off a 10ft pelican fishing kayak the last year because I didn't want to drop that kind of money on something I wasn't fully experienced with, so when I felt it was time and made my purchase after vigorous googling and you tubing to find the right kayak for me my excitement level was maxed out and since recieving my kayak yesterday and running into problem after problem... I have been completely deflated and kind of feel stuck with a kayak that isn't what I thought I purchased. I will add onto this comment when I get everything straightened out with Big Adventures and Caney Fork Outdoors and thanks for all the experience and knowledge you have passed on to fellow kayakers and fishing enthusiasts.
As always, a wonderful review. Im thinking a Lite Tackle with a graph mounted on that small molded center console, and a through hull transducer epoxied inside the hull.
Love these videos. Of all these, the vibe sea ghost 110 was the one that had the features I wanted. This video really helped guide me to my first kayak.
Hate to ask but when will the 2020 edition of this list come out, or is this still a solid list? thinking of getting into kayaking and need some direction.
Great review! I’m in St Louis and I wish I could visit your shop more easily! I’d like to buy a lighter kayak to go with my Jackson coosa FD. Perhaps one of these. I like the idea of a sit-in fishing kayak.
Great video! Super helpful as I consider my third kayak in three years. Just sold my Lure Feel Free Lure 11.5 with the pedal drive because it was freaking Heavy and slow. Amazingly stable and definitely built for fishing but I didn't enjoy peddling as much as I thought I would. My wife blew by my in a 12 ft sit in one day and I was done! Now, I have a light weight wilderness manatee as stop over to my next yak later this summer. Fly fishing on a yak sounds SICK! So, I might be leaning towards the Crescent sit in. Again, great video!
Bro, watching this video showed me real quick I should quit trying to rush to go get a 400$ and under one and just wait and save a little money bc these ate sick, this is what I need. Not a cheap ass one that doesn’t carry all the stuff I need to have great fishing trips. Knew to kayaking and now I’m excited to hopefully find one of these around my area
Really appreciate this one brother! -even though it's two years old and I'm Just seeing it! Lol.. Also watched the $500-range before this one, but I wasn't interested in any of those, except a little partial to the Field & Stream. I've Never had a kayak, and I'm 50 this year and in terminal health, and just simply tired of fishing from Shore!.. Although I do absolutely catch fish 99% of the time I'm out, I hope the rest of this year works out a little better and I get that stimulus soon!🤞For I Do certainly want to make my own videos, (for whatever it's worth) even though there's probably about.. 73,000 of them out there about kayaks! All in all, I Truly appreciate your videos and you're So informative that you hardly stop to take a breath!😳lol.. Love it.. Thanks again, brother, and wish me luck and keep on Yakin!✊😎🍻🚣🦈..
Online outdoorsman brings up a good point when buying a kayak. Weight vs transport. I love watching you comparison vids and I thought it would be important to include weight on your reviews. You have mentioned weight a couple times but not consistently. I'm a cartop transporter. Weight is a big concern for those of us. I got into kayak fishing through the lifetime tahoma but dream of a vibe or feelfree but as outdoorsman commented weight would be a huge factor in a purchase of a upgrade kayak
Hey Chuck: Having cartopped my Tarpon 100 for 10 years now, and being a big fan of this channel and Online outdoorsman's channel, I just wanted to weigh in, ha ha. Seriously, do NOT fall into the temptation of buying one that weighs more than you alone can lift over your head. For me, mine at 55 lbs is the limit. And even at that, I conceded/invested in a Thule Hullavator. Very helpful for cartopping.
Man, I love watching your review videos... but I just got into kayaking in 2022 and it's so gut wrenching seeing what the prices were, ahem, "pre-2020 elections". Almost every kayak I'm looking at is 25% MORE than just a couple of years ago with some like the Litetackle being around 50% more.
good stuff man, however I don't see any Diablo kayaks on your list. the amigo is crazy stable and easy to paddle. im a bonafide guy, so me saying that the Amigo is more stable than the SS127 is saying a lot!!
Your 2018 version is what convinced me to buy the big fish 120 and 105. Glad to see theyre still on the list. Do you have a kayak cooler review... In the market for one
I'm kinda torn between a Sea Ghost 110 and a Bonafide Rs117 for my first fishing kayak. Which would you recommend to a beginner that plans on fishing lakes and rivers?
Hello Dan, thank you for this round up. I was curious about the big fish 120. You said that it is your go to boat for big guys , even in the 350 to 400 pound range. I may have read the specs wrong, but I thought the max capacity of that boat was 400lb? I ask because I am 345 pounds now, although I was 402 on March 1st. New lifestyle and living clean and as I get more fit and more healthy I am getting more active. I want a kayak that I can use to go camping from. Multi day, multi mile trips where I will do a little fishing along the way. I am not a fisherman. No fish finders and sonar etc. Is that big fish a good choice for that type of use? Rivers and lakes, nothing crazy. I also like the looks of the sea ghost 130 and the Nucanoe frontier 12. Of those three, which do you think has the best chance of meeting my needs, or is there an option I've overlooked? Thanks in advance. Keep up the great work on this awesome channel
Hate this review. Not because it’s a bad review. But now I’m even more confused and feel the need to try/own many of these.... great information here ;)
Great video! I have a Vibe Yellowfin 130T and now looking for a river fishing kayak that can be rigged for foot steering a Minn Kota Endura C2. Was considering the Flint but now curious how the Crescent Ultralight and Moken 12.5 V2 compare (+1 for electronics pod). Demoed the Bonifide EX123 and it paddled well, just think it might be limited on rigging for fishing and motor.
There are a few on you tube . Bonafide has a on water / River video called the rise of the Bonafide RS 117 Its a Bonafide Vlog done just about 7 Months back . And there are a few more , but yes most of them are just going over the 117 . But the Bonafide one is Sweet and it does great in a fast Moving river
Have you considered carrying Kaku Kayaks? They are doing some pretty innovative stuff for an outstanding value. IMO the Voodoo is the best fishing craft for the money.
That was a great review! I'm new to kayak fishing and bought a Feel Free Lure 11.5 last year. Nice kayak but heavy! Wish I would have found your channel before I bought it!
What 2 yaks from this list could easily handle a 55 lb thrust motor on the bow like a motorguide xi3. And a group 27 deep cycle battery im looming to build a yak but on this budget nice vid
I thought I had my mind made up on the FeelFree Lure 10 V2, but now I'm also considering the BonaFide SS107 and the Big Fish 105. Which of the 3 would you choose? Thanks!
I have the big fish 120 with a Rudder and the sea ghost 110 and I notice that I rarely use the rudder on the big fish 120 and you said that it tracts so well that you barely need it that made sense. Thanks for your video man I was happy to see two of The Kayaks that I own made it to your top 10
The Jonny Bass 100 would be my choice. I do not live in the US and must first find it and prices - but when you are close to the 70 you need a good engine and a good battery or two. Nice "kayak" the people have made ... can I be allowed to test ?? Laughs
Would you please make a similar video for comparing tandem fishing kayaks. This was a very good video and did do what you set out to do, compare kayaks under $1k!
looking for a recommendation: I'm 6'4, 280lbs, very proficient swimmer, don't fish, just want to paddle around slow rivers and reservoirs. Never been on a kayak, been a very long time since I've been in a canoe. Most of the kayak's I've looked at are maxed out with weight with just me in them. What would be a decent place to start with a entry budget or a used boat? Great videos, love the "nuts and bolts" mentality.
Which one of these do you think would be the best for saltwater fishing? I mostly fish inshore in bays and lagoons here in Southern California, but I want whatever I get to be able to handle going out into the ocean. I’m deciding between a kayak and a jon boat I have never owned either
If you're going to buy a Crescent make sure to look it over very well, their quality control seems to be very poor. I was looking at one at a local dealer when I noticed the hatch had some discoloration and what looked like steal wool coming out of the little hole on the underside of the hatch. I mentioned it to the salesman and he went to look at the others he had in stock to replace it. A hatch on another boat was missing the rubber seal. I then noticed the kayak was missing a hook next to the seat above the bungee cord. even the one in this video is missing one...
I prefer your reviews where you actually take these boats out on the water, lake and river. I want to see how these kayaks track, and how stable, and comfortable they are before I shell out $1,000
Another awesome video. You've done some awesome videos about cheaper yaks from Dicks but have you checked any from Bass Pro? There are a couple of interesting looking boats that I've considered but I hesitate to pull the trigger at the +$600/$700 price point.
Great video for the newb. Which is the recommended kayak for river fishing w some rapids in between calmer water. Looking for navigation stability. And why sit in vs sit on top.
Never drop this series, Dan! This has to be one of the most useful kayak videos each year.
Glad you love it! Thanks man.
We need one for 2020.
Yes

That Lite Tackle has my attention for sure. Simplicity is key for me... I don't want a mini bass boat just something simple and high quality for fishing.
SORRY 4 CAPS, YOU REALLY MADE A GREAT VIDEO, THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME I REALLY APPRECIATE IT. YOU ALSO PUT A LOT OF THOUGHT INTO YOUR VIDEOS THAT A BEGINNER LIKE ME WOULDN'T EVEN THINK OF. THANKS AGAIN

You are my “Go To” for honest info on kayaks. And your videos are entertaining as well as informative.
I'd love to see an updated version of this! Thanks for all the great content!
The sit inside yak looks awsome. The fact that ya can stand up and fish is amazing to me. Get the stability of an on top yak with the cutting ability of an inside yak. Speechless
Great review.....would love to see a list of the best fishing Kayaks in the $1000-$1500 range
I would also like to see this next up catagory ...??
I chose a vibe sea ghost 110 over the Jackson bite and I couldn't be happier. I love the storage options. The new hatch is really functionable and works great when you're on the water.
Thanks for the review. Always nice to find a professional on UA-cam. I'd like to see a tandem series added for 2020! 👍👍
The Crescent yaks are very appealing to me. I bought one of the first wave Nucanoe Flints last year. Its been a great kayak but I'm really considering selling it for one of the Crescents. This was a great video and I love the reviews by your staff great job once again!!
Solid selection.
I think a "grab n go" list is due. Kayaks under 70lbs.
YES! Seems to be a growing Niche. Ultra Lite, Yellowfin 100, Percpetion Pescador, Moken 10 lite, Wilderness Tarpon 10 would be up there.

Since I just bought a Sea Ghost 130 (Galaxy) from you, I gotta say I love it. Without the rudder deployed it tracks straight against river current and a slight cross breeze. Can't wait to get it on the delta. Another great video Dan.
Great to hear!
Please do a 2020 fishing kayak during this quarantine to help ease our minds. Thanks, and keep up the great vids.
I like that cresent light tackle more and more every time I see it
Dan you do a great job of summarizing things. Thanks.
Thanks.
Love my 2019 seaghost I was in between the bigfish and vibe and the storage capabilities just did it for me, caught my pb smallmouth on it yesterday!
Nice!
I really like the Crescent kayaks I was thinking about getting one earlier this year. But for the same price I picked up a Lifetime Yukon on sale for $400 and a Bending Branches Angler carbon fiber paddle. The Yukon is actually very similar to the Crescent kayaks.
Crescent LiteTackle for the win!!! I am so excited to pick up my LiteTackle today.
You'll love it!!!!
I look forward to these videos every year, I have a 14 foot V-hull with a 18hp Evinrude but I wait year by year for Kayak companies to compete with the price I payed for it. They are getting close!

Im in Canada where we dont have access to a good selection of kayaks.

When is the 2020 video coming? Can't wait to see it. Thank you.
Thanks Dan for doing such a great job talking about and showing us about these boats.
that was very interesting very informative and yes you have changed my mind even on the way I'm going to set up my fishing kayak
Glad it was helpful
Love these quick comparisons. Can you do a similar video for the next price points like $1-2k then $2k and up? That would be rad.
yes plz - I'm looking at the $1300-1500 range; I'm a big guy too so that's tricky for me too
Thanks for the walk-through! I've got a deposit on a RS 117 that should be here pretty soon. If I can make a video suggestion, maybe a primer on what you would consider mandatory safety equipment for a kayak trip. As a complete noob, these are the kinds of questions I've got coming up. Vibe sea ghost 130 will be my Christmas gift to myself, can’t wait to get some fishing done in it

You'll love it!

Love these videos. Of all these, the vibe sea ghost 110 was the one that had the features I wanted. This video really helped guide me to my first kayak.
First time buyer over here, I’m more confused than ever on which on to get.
I’d love to see some of the motorized pods that customers made for the big fish.
I should do a viewers rig next time I see one. Or maybe have Matt rig one up.
Hate to ask but when will the 2020 edition of this list come out, or is this still a solid list? thinking of getting into kayaking and need some direction.

Great video i’ve been waiting for this one..... maybe you can make a top 5 or 10 peddle drive kayaks next
Great stuff sir. You explained in a shot video a lot of info that was very help full to me in my next purchase for bay fishing..
The Cresent and 123 Bona are Sweet 👍
One thing that you didn't mention about the Vibe YF120 is that it comes rudder ready. It's an amazing boat.
Found a brand new RS117 locally for a great price. We agreed on the price and now I'm praying the guy gets back with me so I can go pick it up!!!
Aaaaannnd he sold it out from under me. Going to get a Big Fish 120 in the morning.
Great video! Super helpful as I consider my third kayak in three years. Just sold my Lure Feel Free Lure 11.5 with the pedal drive because it was freaking Heavy and slow. Sweet set of Yaks Dan 👍 Minus the one Johnny Boat 😂 , Just Kidding there All Great
haha
Nice picks and over view... Thanks.
Would love to see your take on Hoodoo kayaks a new brand of nice looking kayaks. Curious to see what you think of them.
I picked up the Perception Outlaw really nice boat for around $700
Bro, watching this video showed me real quick I should quit trying to rush to go get a 400$ and under one and just wait and save a little money bc these ate sick, this is what I need. I agree thats a big factor when buying. I try to talk about that on my individual kayak reviews. I'll be mindful of that now. Thanks for the comment.

Crazy how inflation ravaged the kayak business.
Hey Dan, why don't you come open a shop in Huntington WV? I'll quit my job and work for for you
Sweet I'll be right over. haha
Headwaters Kayak hey...I’m a pretty good salesmen, just can’t “LeGaLlY” work for you
good stuff man, however I don't see any Diablo kayaks on your list. the amigo is crazy stable and easy to paddle. im a bonafide guy, so me saying that the Amigo is more stable than the SS127 is saying a lot!!
Your 2018 version is what convinced me to buy the big fish 120 and 105. Glad to see theyre still on the list. Do you have a kayak cooler review... In the market for one
pauly0169 feel free makes a cooler
I'm kinda torn between a Sea Ghost 110 and a Bonafide Rs117 for my first fishing kayak. Which would you recommend to a beginner that plans on fishing lakes and rivers?
i know this video is old but this helped SOOOOOOOO MUCH
Hello Dan, thank you for this round up.
Thanks great review from the UK :-)
Awesome review as always. Keep up the good work!
Could you do a review of the rs117 ive looked and there arent really any good on water reviews
Ya but no one has a good review of it just some paddling and Dan does a great job at reviewing
Awesome Dan keep up the great work with your videos...
That was AWESOME...Great job...
You should do another series for the under 2k price brackets or the $1500-2000 range.
I’m headed over tomorrow to pick up my bigfish 105 tomorrow!!!!
Woot!
After hours if pondering, I'm getting a big fish 110 👌
Seaghost looks the best!
i have the sg130 love mine
The Jonny Bass 100 would be my choice. I do not live in the US and must first find it and prices - but when you are close to the 70 you need a good engine and a good battery or two. Nice "kayak" the people have made ... can I be allowed to test ?? Laughs
great video Dan always love these reviews and your pics.
Would you please make a similar video for comparing tandem fishing kayaks. This was a very good video and did do what you set out to do, compare kayaks under $1k!
Yes! There are a LOT of couples, or parent/kid, out there!!
No just above 1,000.00 the Crescent Crew went up to 1,100.00 now looks good
looking for a recommendation: I'm 6'4, 280lbs, very proficient swimmer, don't fish, just want to paddle around slow rivers and reservoirs. Never been on a kayak, been a very long time since I've been in a canoe. Most of the kayak's I've looked at are maxed out with weight with just me in them. What would be a decent place to start with a entry budget or a used boat? Great videos, love the "nuts and bolts" mentality.
Great review! Thanks for taking the time to make the video.
Which one of these do you think would be the best for saltwater fishing? I mostly fish inshore in bays and lagoons here in Southern California, but I want whatever I get to be able to handle going out into the ocean. I’m deciding between a kayak and a jon boat I have never owned either
I really like the look and cor of that Jackson bite that neon green is sweet and sorta hard to miss o the water
I want to see how these kayaks track, and how stable, and comfortable they are before I shell out $1,000
Great video. I've never wanted a sit inside but that ex123 makes me want to try it.
FatKayakAngler I think of people tried it they’d start to really question their need for a sit on top in flat water. It paddles so much nicer!
Another awesome video. You've done some awesome videos about cheaper yaks from Dicks but have you checked any from Bass Pro? There are a couple of interesting looking boats that I've considered but I hesitate to pull the trigger at the +$600/$700 price point.
Love the stuff picks, never owed kayak... Ty
Sold my Lure 11.5 and have that same Crescent Ultralite on the way.... couldn't demo it so I hope it's everything the Lure wasn't.
Mark Wayman awesome. I’ll be curious to hear your thoughts.
Great video for the newb. Which is the recommended kayak for river fishing w some rapids in between calmer water. Looking for navigation stability. And why sit in vs sit on top.
You should check out the Evoke Sequoia 120.
Christopher Grover I’ll look it up. Thx bro.
I printed that nalgene bottle on that Jackson bite. Looks pretty nice on it, but that's mostly just because of the yak.
How would a fish finder mount to the EX123 and Crescent?
Great job on the reviews!!
