@@itsonandy You should feel great about your race -- you should feel very proud. I did a half marathon on Sunday, but I was very slow, not anywhere near how well you did.
I mean I’m not taking credit for your time or anything but I did predict exactly this a few videos ago 🤷🏼♀️😂 I recognised your times from my times and my PB is 1:45. Ran a half at the weekend desperately trying to get a second under it but the hill at the end did me in. My marathon target for October is 3:59:59, ran a virtual in 4:28 involving a decent section of just walking and saying I was over it so sub 4 with a crowd seems very much doable! I will once again predict you’ll be well under your aim of 4:30 👏🏼
Very well done 👊🏻It's a nice feeling to know that the improvement is there on the shorter distances but for my first ever 26.2 its still a lottery as far as I'm concerned, I genuinely don't know how I'll cope, which is why I'm refusing to stick to sub 4 hours. The runs you've done sound amazing - and seems like we have very similar progress!
Congratulations on that amazing PB! I found your channel a few days ago and I am loving watching you work through your training! All the best from this Canadian runner 🙂
Thanks Jamie, the videos have weirdly become a huge part of the training! Some days/weeks I've been tempted to slack off but that wouldn't make for a very content rich training video 😂 Thanks for the comment and welcome aboard!
Well done Andy, I did a similar thing two weeks ago. Previous HM PB was 2:18 and I did it in 1:58:42 and got a 10k PB. I was aiming for a sub 2 hour time but it was a very ambitious target. Just goes to show that sometimes we can push ourselves more than we realise. Absolutely knackered me out though. Still feeling it a few weeks later!
Nice work, Andy! The shoes would make some difference of course but wouldn't account for a 15 minute PB, that can only come from the hard work you've been putting in! It's motivating to follow your progress
Cheers Dan. That's great to hear and thanks for following the process! This race was my first test of speed over a long distance, I'm just delighted with how it went!
@@PoetWithPace nope, still staying with the original time as I want to make sure I fully enjoy the day without too much pressure. I'm hoping more marathons will be on the cards for me in the future and I'll reassess once Brighton is done. Enjoy taper week this week mate - and best of luck to you for Manchester if I don't see you before!
Great run, Andy! That's quite an achievement that! I recently got under 1h45m on the half myself;) So I know the feeling when you outperform your own expectations/limits! Well done, mate! Cheers
Thanks HosTek, it's such a huge feeling and one I want more of! Hoping for more of that at a few more halfs this year 😎Well done on yours - it was a great course!
Congrats on the new PB, well run and glad to see you enjoying it! Almost making me miss racing Half's (I'm leaving them until the back end of the year). Focusing on 5-10k at the moment, managed a new 5k PB on Saturday, hoping to take this speed into the longer races!
Talk about underestimating your ability and setting modest goals! Superb. The not checking course elevation though - that sounds like it could go badly wrong, though I suppose if a race ever had awful climbs, its reputation would precede it.
Love it! Well done Andy, it just shows the training is paying off. You paced it right as you were overtaking people at the end and no-one was overtaking you! That was 8min/mile pace, so a 9min/mile marathon pace is well within you for a sub 4 marathon, but just don't start too fast as the marathon is a completely different race. I just ran Milton Keynes HM as part of my marathon training plan with a PB time and I was wearing my new Endorphin Speed 2...See you in Brighton!
Sounds like I'm in good company with the Endorphins! I've only done a handful of runs in them but they've changed the game for me. Thanks for the advice, I will take heed!
The end of the race was so good when you found out you did your PB. I'm training for the Bham half and my goal is 2h30m but after seeing you run then I'm hoping I can surprise myself. Great video
Wowza! This is unbelievable mate, the time and effort you have put in is really starting to pay off. Goals are there to be beaten and the PBs seem to be rolling in! Keep up the hard work but most of all keep enjoying the journey!
That is what running is about. Nightmare runs, good runs, hard training, wind, rain ,sun you name it all for that 1run that says "I did it". Thrilled for you👏👏👏 and yer right. To hell with yer electrolytes, keep getting the Guinness in 😂😂 from a proud Irishman. All the best in Brighton Andy. You'll smash it. I'm heading over to do Manchester next week so I've one important question for you🤔 where do I get decent Guinness 😁😁
Cheers Dermot! Absolutely loved the atmosphere and the run felt great. Nice to know you're heading in the right direction sometimes. Best of luck in Manny, you should get a decent pint as I'm sure there's a strong Irish community there! I don't know it too well but I'm betting you'll find a good couple of boozers. I did the half last year and it was flat as a pancake!
Well done mate. I honestly thought you would manage round about that time considering how well the marathon training had been going. At that pace, you could achieve a sub 4 hour marathon if all goes well. As Dean mentioned, the most important thing is not to start off too fast. I passed countless runners who did just that. I will be following you all the way. Good luck.
Nothing to do with the shoes....all about the training and determination. Brilliant effect, especially when holding a GoPro. Did you stop for post race McDonalds? :P
That’s brilliant well done. It’s not just the shoes mate, you have to have the fitness to take advantage of the shoes also. I think you’re selling yourself short aiming for a 4:30 Marathon I think you’re capable of a much faster time.
Thank you. It's so strange for me to hear so many people think I'm capable of running sub 4 on a distance I've never got close to in training. I really hope you're right 😁
You're not the first to say it - I'm taking these comments in my stride and I'd love a sub 4, but I'm hovering somewhere between an optimist and a realist. Cheers mate!
Great video andy. Great race. Well done on smashing your 10k and half PBs. That looked a rrally good race to do. I also smashed all my PBs in the Milton Keynes half the week before. Also vlogged for my channel. Keep up the great work and i think you could go sub4h in brighton

Wow, 1 hour & 45 minutes???!!!!! Jeez, you killed it Andy! Fantastic job!!!!!
Thank you Joe! Honestly I still can't believe it 😁
sprint to the finish well done!
Congratulations, Andy! Well done! No, it was not the shoes -- it was YOU! You did the running, you conquered the pain. You did it!!!!
Thanks Cathy. That's a great reminder to remember it's a mental challenge not a technical one. Feeling great!

@@itsonandy yeah I know what you mean, I have another HM 8 weeks and I'm already aiming for a sub 1:55!!
Yeeeaahh! Go get em 💪🏻
Great job andy. I was thinking your 4:30marathon time was very conservative based on your recent times. A sub 4:00 is easily on the cards for you!
I hope so Martin - I just know that I start to fall apart after a half marathon. It's going well though so far!
@@itsonandy you will do it, with nicely rested legs. Congratulation and glad you enjoyed the honeymoon. Looked epic

Thank you Nick! I love to speed up at the end, if I've got anything left to give!

Thanks Rick, she really is my biggest fan!❤
Brilliant run, well done! I've just signed up for next year's Stafford HM and can't wait.
Nice one Tom, I really enjoyed it, the finish was a little narrow so be mindful of that on your sprint finish! Otherwise it was a good route 👍🏻
Well done Andy absolutely fantastic effort.
Thank you Douglas! Feeling it now... 🤣
Congrats on the great half marathon & the journey so far. Hard work is certainly paying off for you. Hope to see you in Brighton for the victory lap
