    Here are three tests that can be done to determine if you actually have golfer’s elbow. If you have pain on the inside of your elbow and suspect golfers elbow, give these tests a try. If a test reproduces your familiar symptoms, then it is considered positive.
    1. Tendon Palpation
    2. Tendon Stretch Test
    3. Tendon Load Test

      It sounds like your symptoms may be more nerve related. I would recommend trying the exercises in my ulnar nerve video below. Just be careful to add these exercises gradually because if you do too much, they can make the nerve flare up. ua-cam.com/video/rvrtapqpuPw/v-deo.htmlsi=DwiBYA_g6xOG2XBk

    The third test caused a burning pain in that area for me, and a lot of tennis elbow tests also cause the same type of pain in that area for me. However, the first two tests didn't cause pain in the elbow but they caused pain in the wrist. That area and the rest of my arm has been feeling extremely sore with aching and burning sensations. I also had this same issue about 2 months ago but it went away for around a month and the pain just resurfaced. Could this still be golfer's/tennis elbow or is it more likely something else?

    Hello there. First, I wan to say thank you for your hard work. I recently purchased your new book and I love it! It has been such an aid in my work.
    Second, I'm wondering if you might be able to give advice on a client? They have RA and have had their left elbow frozen in a partial flexed and extended potion for many years now. Client can mostly flex their elbow, but cannot fully extend it. How can I rehab the full ROM and strength/functionality? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Blessings.

      Thank you so much for ordering my book! When elbow contractures develop, they can be very difficult to overcome. This joint becomes very stiff at times, and regaining full elbow extension is almost impossible for some people. In these cases, I would spend time mobilizing the elbow joint and passively stretching the joint into extension with manual pressure.

    I have an internal scar tissue injury in my wrists, forearms, elbows, and shoulders from repetitive injury and overuse and lifting heavy and playing very athletic sports like football. The pain started in my wrist in about mid way through April and has gotten worse slowly it is now in all the spots I listed and now it is almost October. The osteopath I’m going to is saying they have to break it all up been there 3 times see no difference the pain is not bad for a week then gets super bad for 3 days then when I wake up it feels good again it’s so weird, I get lots of pain in my tricep area and the tendons that connect to my elbow and in the spot you get tennis elbow and golfers elbow I am 15 and don’t know what to do I had to stop working and it is even hard to go to school have any tips or anything I just want anything advice. Thanks for the video! I am having intermittent pain on the inside of my elbow, but none of these tests cause pain. Is there anything else that might come to mind? Also, is it OK to continue doing exercises like controlled pull-ups if I don't feel pain while doing them (assuming my pain is tendon-related)?

    • @RehabScience
      @RehabScience  10 місяців тому +1

      In some cases, the tests don’t reproduce the persons symptoms. If you don’t have radiating nerve pain, then the pain is most likely related to these tendons. I would try working gradually on wrist flexor, finger flexor, and grip strength and see if your symptoms improve. Yes, it’s OK to keep doing pull-ups as long as you don’t feel like they are exacerbating the issue. Pull-ups are known to aggravate this area, so you may need to back off on the volume of them temporarily until the tendon desensitizes.

      This is quite common when the tendon is irritated. People won’t be able to straighten the elbow all the way because of pain. Just move as far as you can without causing more than mild pain. You would also want to focus on the tendon strengthening exercises in my golfer’s elbow rehab video.

      If you haven’t had a recent injury, it’s unlikely that the MCL ligament is injured. Also, if you don’t have numbness or tingling, it’s unlikely that the ulnar nerve is irritated. So, it would probably be the flexor tendons. Sometimes, these tests aren’t positive, but the person’s symptoms match with golfers elbow. You might want to see an orthopedic PT if you can’t get ahead of the pain.

      Open palm stresses the finger flexor tendons more, which attach in the same spot. I would start the exercises with a closed fist and work towards an open hand position. It would also be a good idea to work your grip strength as this will help strengthen the finger flexors.

    • @RehabScience
      @RehabScience  11 місяців тому

      You may have injured your biceps brachii muscle. The biceps brachii bends the elbow and supinates the forearm (turns the palm toward the ceiling). If the tendon was fully torn, you would notice a balling up of your bicep. If this hasn't occurred, you have only suffered a partial tear. An MRI would help figure out what is going on.

    Meh, only the second one slightly indicated it. I'm so fed up with my "specialist" doctor right now. Can't figure out a solution to get rid of this all with therapy, so I'm demanding FMLA to allow my tendons to rest.

    • @RehabScience
      @RehabScience  Рік тому +1

      Unfortunately, rest doesn’t get rid of tendinopathy. A few days of rest will allow the tendons to calm down, but, after that, it is imperative that you start loading/strengthening the wrist flexor muscles and their tendons. I have a recent golfer’s elbow rehab post under my elbow playlist that shows these rehab exercises.

    • @420
      @420 Рік тому

      @@RehabScience interesting. Perhaps I'm just not loading them frequent enough. Anytime I stretch or work them out it seems to just aggrevate and inflame more. My therapy sessions only included scraping and ultrasounding with a steroid being applied topically. Sure hope I didn't waste weeks and lots of money by not strengthening and loading, because we sure didn't do any of that this last round.

    • @RehabScience
      @RehabScience  Рік тому +1

      @@420 I'm sorry to hear that is all that has been done this round of PT. The evidence is pretty clear that when it comes to tendon pain, resistance training/loading should be the primary emphasis. Unfortunately, the interventions you mentioned have almost no support in the research. Resistance training does require a fair bit of specific prescription though as overdoing it can flare things up and not loading enough can lead to a plateau in one's improvements. It's very much a trial and error process. I would recommend trying the strengthening exercises in my golfer's elbow rehab video and implementing them one at a time to see how your body responds. It is okay to have mild (4/10) pain during the movements as long as your baseline pain isn't worse the next morning. Hope that makes sense!
