So I had another chance to play on a Yamaha grand piano, AAAANND ON A STEINWAY D OHMERGERD
Sadly, I only had about 10 minutes on the Steinway, but it's soooo good to play on. The sound was amazingly CRISP and LOUD, and the pedal control was amazing. The touch, like fucking butter, pardon the French.
I wanted to record something, so my friend who hooked me up with the Steinway (thanks man!), also hooked me up with a Yamaha C7. I had my friend record some organ music, I'll post it on my facebook later if anyone is interested.
It wasn't as good as the Steinway, the Yamaha's action was really slow and not as responsive, the bass is really muddy compared to the Steinway, (I feel disconnected with the Yamaha actually), but it was good for training as I am really not used to playing on the grand piano.
I had issues with Yamaha's pedal actually, it was very difficult to judge if the pedal is off the strings... you can see I lifted my foot up off the pedal too much around 2:31 when I hit the left hand A octave, and it sounded disconnected

A question for my subscribers (or just viewers): Would you be ok if I signed up for adsense? I heard that you can be a partner now even when covering copyrighted songs, so it's possible. Would you be annoyed by the ads, or would you be ok with it? Of course, it will support my playing and I might get a better camera, or a better microphone to record on the grand piano. Thoughts?

The only thing missing from this is the thunderous applause at the end.
+Grellbastian You are absolutely right
Unless you want to put some Rainymood in the background.
The The The there wouldn't be any applause, that would be to shocked
to be precised, one minute of silence and then comes the thunderous applause
He's getting it now after finally doing a concert in Singapore❤️
The sudden burst of emotion from 2:28 is amazing I love it.
yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's a loose hammer that hits the string twice, that in piano language it's called mechanism miss-regulation, but I love It here, it could happen any time during the playing and It happened on the correct time, it's the most beautiful mechanism miss-regulation that I've ver seen!
yes is amazing 😢😭😍😍👌
This needs more views. Elfen Lied is heart wrenchingly beautiful.
The anime isnt gettng watched much, Its one of the best ;-;
It's just not discussed overly much, like the Holy Shonen Trio. Were all too depressed to talk about it, like Your Lie In April, or Re:Zero. REM IS BEST GIRL. RIP REM.
Yeah, yeah. I know. But it isn't something discussed a lot even when it's brought up, because it's really, really depressing.
About re:zero, will the anime just go to episode 24? Or will it get a second season? Which would be the best, but I just hate that :(
It's the 11th most popular anime on MAL just after Bleach. Lol?
By the way, I was booked a session with Horowitz's Steinway by the dealer that's hosting the piano. :3
lmao dude wtf??? That's huge how did I not know about that! Did you ever record on it or was it more of just an experience thing
This gave me chills.
BroJR?
nice pfp
respect for staying with this series for so long
@@steelbitefan3402 ngl I think the series is bad, I just like the artwork 😂

Enrique R i tough you were immortal

this song reminds me of my cousin. we had so much fun as kids. I was 6 and she was 7. me and my brother played with her and her sister all of the time... Until one day she was found hung in her closet. I couldn't believe anyone when they told me she was dead until I saw her myself... this beautiful song brings me seven years back when she was still living we had fun together. I will never forget those times. You did amazing on the piano
whah
I feel you... Love from Argentina bro. I hope ur better now.
Wtf
Game zone supreme what on the fuck i am sorry man
@Mac Busby I did see my 10-yr-old (friend?) using a knife to carve his crush's name onto his arm
You never know
You say you missed the pedal at 2:31, but holy shit that hammer bounce sounded amazing. you should do that more.
あぁ〜最高...
全てのピアノアレンジの中で一番好き..
To me, this is by far the only opening music where I could actually feel the emotions of the characters, especially Lucy's ones. Despair, revenge, anger, sadness etc.
When emotions burst out (~2:30), it always gives me chill, because as I've already watched the anime, I remember every tragic and cruel scenes where Lucy is just hopeless or out of control.
Idk, that's how I feel
Paradis 018 i agree
Isabela lullaby from promised neverland
@@adriart3720 yeah, I also agree with this music
This cover was one of my main motivations to learn the piano. In highschool I stubbornly insisted on learning this song despite being a complete beginner. Honestly I probably could have learned a lot more had I focused on easier songs, but this was the one I just NEEDED to learn. Its been a long time since I've seriously practiced, mostly due to life getting in the way, but every time I listen to this I KNOW I have to get back into it some day.
Elfenlied is a masterpiece. I remember the first time I watched it as a kid, I didnt find it scary just sad and I taught me that it's wrong to judge people just because they look different and since my father was racist that was important for me to learn.
No.

@@DarioJugador Depends on which person. I would ignore, some people would be naked on the beach.
bruh , this is anime.
Sometimes it could make little no sense for the sake of the story.
And that tiny little real life situation detail
are not significantly important at all.
In real life, that girl with two horn wouldn't be existed in the first place.
To be more realistic, the containment for two horn girls could be much sophisticated , like SCP foundation.
But, so what? The story is great. The message from this story are great. The theme is a masterpiece.

my first anime that i watched was elfen lied becouse iam german i thought at that time hmm sound interresting i didnt even know what an anime was back then but well here iam 4 years after i watched it playing piano songs myself and wasting the rest of my life watching anime :D but Elfen Lied ist freaking epic! in all ways
Keksrezept it was the first anime that I watched too ;)
Keksrezept my first was Cardcaptor Sakura watched it on 2006
My First Anime that I watch from the Beginning to the End was Charlotte
You lucky ones... mine was highschool DxD.... I'm from austria and i thought the same about the name😂😭 .... btw for all Elfenlied fans who don't know elfenlied means elvessong
You english is so cute
Elfen lied is my favorite animes out there besides deadman wonderland because honestly.... I love how it told the story out of Gore, nudity, abuse, killing, etc. The story was told in tragic way i think was the best way. Elfen lied will always be my favorite Anime forever.
You'd be incredibly happy to finish the Deadman Wonderland story.
Its actually absolutely beautiful; and to think that i'm talking about Deadman Wonderland. hehe
Ramen Project I should probably read the manga soon
Because all the blood and gore were just an accesory to tell the story, unlike some others, that seem to be all about gore and zero story. Elfen Lied is a master piece.
Mario Romero this is true. The anime is a masterpiece as is it's soundtrack.
The anime is actually a kinda shitty adaption of the manga.
Honestly, the only thing truly exceptional about the Elfen Lied anime is the absolutely stellar soundtrack.
jesus fucking christ if i was a song i'd marry this one
This theme is brilliant. thank you
Random ninja cutting onions near me
damn ninjas. They sneak up on me every time
they are not ninjas , how many times do i have to repeat myself , they are super sonic wave length that is invisible to human eyes . Damn somy horn girls are cutting onions again ;-;
Damn ninjas xD
When the kissanime.to and 9anime.to comment sections come to youtube...
"Cutting some onions" . . . oh sorry, have I made your cry?
Strangely enough, the out-of-tune piano sound helps to convey the true deep feelings of this masterpiece!
It honestly does help alot
Does anyone think this piece is worth playing at school?
As an exam or just as a performance? :o As performance it would be pretty awesome, as exam it would be a little bit difficult.
Leon Zatulovski yes me
Yess
To hard?? Its just medium
He definitly means this would hardly pull the exam off, I think this piece just bearly reaches medium level.
この方のピアノが一番好きでずっと聴いてる、切ない気持ちになる🥲最高です
WOW!! 2:30 OMG!! It's EPIC!! ~'0'~
I’ll be watching this in the new decade 2020
Well, watching this in 2020 is not irrelevant
You don’t even know, How happy I get when I play this at school 😂 I play it during class when the teacher needs the class to focus I finish my work as fast as I can and start playing this song and people are just amazed by it. I don’t know why it makes me so proud to play it but it does 😊😊
I'd like to give a shout out to Pianeet for helping me improve my technique lol, thanks man~
This song is amazing, even after so many years still brings me a felling of Nostalgia, it was one of the fist animes that I watched.
Curiosity : here in Brazil we have some catholic churches who plays this in choral, is a fenomenal experience see it in person.
No doubt this is the best lilium piano version. Thanks for share, master! God bless you!

@@Dglover-bu7zk I think... Maybe he figured that one out.

This anime has stayed in my mind for years now and this opening never bores me.. I love it..

+Bernice Aleman lol ninja hands hahaha
İ feel ya bro
+Bernice Aleman There is a super simplistic version.
Where is the super advanced version? I'm yet to find a transcription close this difficulty.
I have been practicing this wonderful piece for more than 6 months now, and I estimate that I need probably 2 more years until I can play it decently and one more year to get the full spirit. Never mind, I have already managed to have my hands play something I would never have thought possible. Many many thanks for this marvel and happy new year !
Well... Can you play it?
This song is my soul theme. Thanks a million Theishter
Quite amazing the positive responses to advertisement. I feel speshul
Teach me, Master! This was the most beautiful and most difficult piano song I have ever heard!

Just listening to this reminds me of the ending of the series anime
This reminds me of anime's glory days.
Now is full of untalented script writers and predictable plot line, and lastly full of excessive fan service that ruins a good show.
...when will the days of Clannad, Elfen Lied, Angel Beats, and other similar anime come back?
They did gave us the Fate series, so as Attack on Titan but its still so dam disappointing to be so rare.
mvpmickey1 There're loads of anime which are better than elfen lied. It's hardly the definition of "the glory days".
iArchAngel 890 Cowboy Bebop, Akira, and Trigun were made before Elfen Lied. I'm saying not it's bad, but in comparison to those it's not really a masterpiece. Also, another anime which came out a couple of years after Elfen Lied is Ergo Proxy. Now that's a good one.
***** Really? What about Full Metal Alchemist?
***** If you were standing next to me, I'd give you a good slap around the chops. Go onto - just anime dubbed (dot com), and watch it. It's really REALLY worth a watch. Also, there's 2, but start with that, then watch FMA brotherhood.
Thanks, I guess it's because I've arranged Lilium around 2007, and I've been developing the transcription throughout the years, though without music theory background.
My friend gives me the opportunity to play on grands, I guess I just have to take what I get. Maybe it's because Canada doesn't get much funding for music. Not sure if I get access to the well-tuned Steinway in the Hall during summer after all sadly... ;_;
You sir just made me want to take up and play piano again with your beautiful playing

Behind this beautiful piece is endless days of practice and tormenting thoughts of inability of playing the piano never knowing if you're good enough
ur so sweet
One of the most beautiful piano pieces i ever heard
beautifully played
I listen to this every day, its so powerful and combined with the feeling of the anime its an amazing piece of art!
8 years later and it's as beautiful as the very first day ❤
Full body chills all the way through
C'est juste...trop bien, trop beau. Tu joues super bien. Tu gères ;p
that is one heart-throbbing nostalgic epic arrangement you have ever made...
it saddens me that there will probably never be a piece of music similar to lilium. ever. it is too unique :,(
Cisco Martinez no anime in the future would have the balls to do music like this
It's too different to what is common nowadays which is high major upbeat pop rock songs
This (I think it's Latin but it might be sung in Japanese) song is incredible with so much power behind the lyrics and the way it was created as if an orchestra was accompanying a choir similar to "Messiah" by Handel but in a much different tone and now that I think about it Messiah is not even similar to this... not in a million years
Oh well I hope anyone who reads this understands the point I'm trying to make
@@DiscreetHobo Yes I understand, it isn't canon at all for the world of anime, and neither for our time. It really is a jewel in modern music.
Check out Clair De Lune by Debussy

That pop-off at the end killed me.
Seriously though I just finished the manga and this brought tears to my eyes. Seeing the characters and story progress in the way they were meant to was just... amazing. Keep up the good work, Mr. Theishter.
I really enjoyed the strong parts of the song. It brings the sadness back i felt at the end of Elfen Lied. This anime will always be my favorite anime. There will be no future anime that will overcome the feeling i have for this anime NEVVVVEEEERRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last minute just blew my mind. Supernatural technique.
Steinway's are beautiful pianos, aren't they? Such lovely sound.
It's a wee bit out of tune though...
It literally says YAMAHA on the front...
Read the description...
I don't watch any anime, nor am I interested in it. However, this song being played is really something else. I can't wait to learn it.
Grand Master playing Grand Piano
I used to know how to play this song, but I lost motivation to play the piano due to depression among other things. I dream to one day learn this again. I still remember a few parts, but not nearly as much as I used to.

It was great at 2:34 I thought you broke your piano ;D
That just made my day... Thank you good sir.
God, this piano is so out of tune !
Very well played anyway :p
Robin Labadie how can u even tell
Well, i just got some technical ear, and piano knowledge. As a sound engineer, i need my musicians to be tuned perfectly, so i easily recognize when something is even slightly out of tune (like 10% of a semitone is obvious to me, which can be boring sometimes since it can prevent me from enjoying a nice song).
And as somebody who likes instruments and watched a professional piano tuner working, i know that for the lowest frequency ones, each note of a piano has multiple strings; when they're out of tune, the piano has a pretty recognizable sound.
But this out of tune sound can be appealing as well, and in this case, didn't prevent me from enjoying and liking this cover :)
And so that you can maybe notice it as well, seek for notes that kind of "rotate" (the phase of these frequencies literally do rotate from each other's perspective), kind of like a tremolo or in this case, rather a chorus effect. The sound kind of cancels itself and amplifies itself at a rate that depends on the note's height and the offset between the notes/strings that aren't in tune together. You can also think about a saloon piano cliché, they have a pretty typical sound because they're usually out of tune, which you find in this piano a bit.
since you seem to have a fair amount of experience in this kind of thing, could I ask how you would suggest going about improving your technical ear?
I'm a piano builder and you are totally right :D
I know what you mean. This is the most beautiful, sad, dark but soothing and uplifting song ever. The emotions shouldn't be able to mix and come from a single source, but it does. Not only the the emotions flood in, they go through your very soul, the very essence of your existence, touches it with it's sweet melody, and leave it there to stay forever. This song i truely one of the greatest peices of music to date.
