    Even as a Manly fan I have to say Brett Kenny was one of the most naturally gifted footballers I've ever seen. Effortless talent.

    The name Brett Kenny is immortal. His name is mentioned more often than anyone else in league folklore and I’m a queenslander.

      Could not say it any better, they didn't call him the Natural 4 Nuthin. Shoulda been an Immortal a long time a go. WTF R they waiting for , wait till he's dead? Up there with Jordan, Pele , Joe Montana and Tiger Woods in any sport. The BEST.

    I have been watching league since I was 5. I'm 55 now I've watched some great players in that time ...for me Kenny is the finest big match player of them all bar none. Should be an immortal. 💪🙏

    The hands, the step, the ability to read the game and to make the breaks. A super star of his time and a rugby legend.

    Kiwi here Brett Kenny to me will always be the true KING. He didn't have a big mouth like the other joker, just let his skills do the talking.

    The NRL Immortals is a fucking JOKE if Brett Kenny isn't in it. He's the best player I've seen in my life. I started watching and playing League in 1973. He HAS to be an Immortal

      All these decades later, it is still so thrilling to watch him. The feeling never dies! If that isn't the sign of "immortality" what is?

    kenny was decades ahead of the rest -- golden boot , 9 tries in 5 grandfinals if you count 86 GF , Beat lewis in origin 8 out of 12 games , kept meninga and lewis out of the australian side . He was the king of the intercept . Almost all players since have copied his style but none done it better and so easily . Look at the toughest period of footy and he dominated every level consistently . Should be immortal already and its criminal he is not .

    • @jimihendrixx11

      Wasnt Lewis a bit better than him at the time? 1.King .2 Brett Kenny?

    • @Adam-oy4ix
      @Adam-oy4ix 2 роки тому +1

      He never kept Lewis out of the team. Yes he and Miles kept Mal on the bench on the 86 tour, but Lewis was skipper and 5/8.

    • @troystaunton254
      @troystaunton254 2 роки тому

      Kenny played a total of 4 tests at 5/8, 3 of them on the 82 kangaroo tour. Lewis played 25 of his 31 tests at 5/8. Meninga played 45 tests Kenny only 17. It never ceases to amaze me how people who claim Kenny was better than the King or Mal, remember 1982 but not the entire rest of the decade. That being said yes he should be an immortal, him and Alfie Langer are the 2 most egregious omissions currently. I would also argue for sterlo and Freddie.

    The best five eighth who ever lived. Anyone who thinks Lewis was better than him is kidding themselves. Kenny was a genius. And incredibly humble to boot. Easily one of the five best players I ever saw. And I’m not even a Parramatta fan.

    "...that beautiful pass from Ket Kenny". Ray French hasn't really got worse with age, he was always terrible. He says, "Wilf Ball with the George" in Halifax's last Challenge Cup success as the afore-mentioned Mr. George scores a debatable try in the corner.

    • @petermyers5214
      @petermyers5214 2 роки тому

      It was Maurice Bamford who said "shows Wilf Ball the george" as he talked through Paul Loughlin's try in an action replay in the 1987 final 🤓 but yes Ray French did have his moments. I liked his commentary in the run up to Gilly's try in this game : "not good professional tactics here from Wigan ..." 15 second later, Henderson was scoring as good a try as we'll see.
      I was at this final ; Hull so very nearly won it

    The tackler Kenny breaks of to off load to Edwards was
    his team mate at Parramatta (NO:7) Peter Sterling.
