The blitz is just a faster way of going through the dice rolling process. The percentages when you do it tell you how likely you will win (i.e. if you have 100 vs 1 troops your chance is 100% but if you’re 1 vs 100 troops your chance is 0%). Since y’all point it out, it does seem stupid in some aspects... but it is definitely best thing to use when you want to save time.
it can't be straight statistics because at roughly 1:37:40 Jihi attacked with 18 (really 17 because you can't attack with the last troop) on squirrel with 17, and her blitz rated it as a 100% win chance. the defender wins ties so it can't just be RNG dice rolls
In balanced blitz, playing blitz for most attacks is probably the best way to save troops. There were so many occasions in this video where, if they actually used blitz, they could’ve taken the territory or, they could’ve done significantly more damage than they did using the true random rolls

The strategy with the territory cards is you wanna try to use ones that have countries you own. So say you go to trade in three of a kind or one of each, you own Madagascar, Egypt, and Ontario, but your cards have Ontario among the three you're trading in. You will get 2 additional troops on whatever territory is listed on top of the actual trade in bonus. So that's how Cartoons got that sudden 3 in East Australia.

This was so much fun!! I really hope this becomes a regular thing - long videos of board games! Everybody was so funny, but Jihi's manic laughter was a personal highlight!
The biggest difference with this version and the bord game is that controlling the world isn't the only way to win. In the bord game you could be the least powerfull but just accomplish your goal and still win. That way the game becomes less 1 sided once someone gets to many troops. It'd be fun to see that in the video game.
Yall really underestimated just how strong Blitz is. It allows you to just stomp through territory like it's nothing if you have alot of troops in one place, and if the enemy has anything less than 75% of the number of troops you have while attacking, you win with 100% chance.
Also Cartoonz one of the settings on this game for dice was “balanced blitz”, which kinda fucks with the rolls. I always play on “true random” cuz then you’re always getting random rolls and it doesnt take into account troop number or anything like that
1:10:50 Toonz: "It's mathematically impossible." Me: "Has this man not seen how badly Wil Wheaton rolls dice? That's a paradox no one should touch lest they're willing to incur the same curse on dice he has."
Blitz removes the extreme luck. But in Risk the advantage is with the attacker assuming they always use 4 or more troops. The attacker rolls 3 and defense 2 and the attack has a slight advantage. For 100 rolls, attacker average losses is 92 and defenders lose 108.
31:35 this absolutely hurt my soul, mans has a +2 bonus to the land he's about to reinforce anyway and uses his other card, costing himself 2 extra troops -_-
Not gonna lie toonz I haven't watched a single one of your videos for about 8 months, and this is what brought me back. I will gladly watch you play 4 hours of this game strait. This was incredibly entertaining. Thank you
Normally I skip watching long UA-cam videos. I didn't look at how long this was before I clicked on it. This was a great change of pace for me. It was a great video to sit back and relax too. One I could have playing in the background while doing other stuff, and still know what's going on.
I’d like to see y’all play this more. Hopefully within time, they will understand the game better (as a bit of an experienced player, and younger than possibly all 4 of these people, I kept thinking to myself so much about what plays were good to do; though generally I think it was quite tough to do anything since all of them were in a big stalemate for about an hour or so, with everyone just turtling in fear that they’d get backstabbed).
Ok I'm much more of an axis and allied player but imo once he took Australian continent and Siam he should've just pushed up into Asia instantly. He had all the turns in the world and even tho it worked out in the end he could've ended it a lot quicker there
not really for toonz. he did a actual great strat in just minding his own business in australia and pointing fingers on the other side of the globe so people spend troops trying to get there instead of to him. by the time it took everyone to take america it would be hard to move all the troops to get to him and then even harder to beat that brick wall that is turtle island. i do think he shouldnt have spread his troops out as much as he did but it worked out in his favor in the sense it took longer for people to realise just how much firepower he has at his fingertips. also playing defence is just way more powerful then any offence because you need to be SERIOUSLY outnumbered to get anything. the dice rolls are so bs for attacking and defending is way more easy then it should be. so you just need to make the outback your home away from home with 30 units on the 1 place that can sail there and watch as everyone else struggles to fight that 30. its even better because you cant surround the outback like they can with america. america is harder to defend because you need to be placing a bunch of troops in 3 locations compared to outbacks 1 location. also the outback doing the turtle strat means that you get a LOT of units facing asia that gives the most troops of anywhere else in the world. so when you do feel like you need to spread out you can take all of asia and then point to europe or america next since both places are also pretty ok with increasing your troops per turn
@@poiuyzq true but for the most part he was doing really well for himself. because whenever you get australia you pretty much instantly win no matter what happens. eventually you will always get enough troops to outnumber everyone else. because while everyone is fighting among themselves you are building an army to conquer the world
I love you toonz but watching you play this was a little frustrating because i love this game and I want you to win but you kept making bad moves I know you were new and didn’t understand blitz but I love your content so much and seeing you get frustrated made it all worse I just needed to say this or else I felt like I was gonna die all the same I still love you and your content I wish you all the best and will always believe in you
Imagine a modern mode in this game where they can just send ships and planes from anywhere to wherever they want and just bomb people. That would be a clusterfuck and way less methodical than how it is now
I think Cartoonz was doing a bit when he was "getting mad" at Squirrel for attacking him but then when he lost what should have been an easy fight is when he really started getting tilted forreal lol I kind of feel bad for Squirrel because Jihi saw Cartoonz was really getting tilted and started teaming up on Squirrel. btw, not saying they hate each other or anything. I'm just saying I feel a little bad about it in the moment lol I know it's just a game

Blitz removes the extreme luck. But in Risk the advantage is with the attacker assuming they always use 4 or more troops. The attacker rolls 3 and defense 2 and the attack has a slight advantage. For 100 rolls, attacker average losses is 92 and defenders lose 108.
I love this! More long friend game videos.
Would definitely love to see more of this! RISK is my favorite board game so getting to watch you guys play is awesome!
Love this video dude you should keep playing this game
31:35 this absolutely hurt my soul, mans has a +2 bonus to the land he's about to reinforce anyway and uses his other card, costing himself 2 extra troops -_-
Always love these kind of games, reminds me of Iron Triangle for ps2. Excited for this video, thank you!
This is so frustrating to watch on so many levels but I can't stop
The sheer joy I see that it’s 3 hours
I was fully expecting Toonz to backstab squirrel immediately after making the second alliance just to rub revenge in the rodent's face
Now me and my friends won’t fight about who’s right about the rules for twenty minutes :D
Not gonna lie toonz I haven't watched a single one of your videos for about 8 months, and this is what brought me back. I will gladly watch you play 4 hours of this game strait. This was incredibly entertaining. Thank you
This was extremely stressful to watch haha, although very entertaining.
Some of their decisions and fortifying actions hurts me haha 😂 Screaming at the screen as they screw up over and over
I can not believe I watched the entire thing. it was worth it tho, I was never bored watching it. Love your content toonz. Squirrel was entertaining.

Jihi sacrificing herself for her boss is the most wholesome but yet sus thing ever.
How is it sus you f****** coconut and that mean is so last year
I have played this game for years I know the map inside out and know where to attack and everything and I have never lost to my friends
You don't understand how often I revisit this video
watching yall play this was enraging yet still entertaining. there were so many idiotic each of you made.
not really for toonz. he did a actual great strat in just minding his own business in australia and pointing fingers on the other side of the globe so people spend troops trying to get there instead of to him. by the time it took everyone to take america it would be hard to move all the troops to get to him and then even harder to beat that brick wall that is turtle island. i do think he shouldnt have spread his troops out as much as he did but it worked out in his favor in the sense it took longer for people to realise just how much firepower he has at his fingertips. also playing defence is just way more powerful then any offence because you need to be SERIOUSLY outnumbered to get anything. the dice rolls are so bs for attacking and defending is way more easy then it should be. so you just need to make the outback your home away from home with 30 units on the 1 place that can sail there and watch as everyone else struggles to fight that 30. its even better because you cant surround the outback like they can with america. america is harder to defend because you need to be placing a bunch of troops in 3 locations compared to outbacks 1 location. also the outback doing the turtle strat means that you get a LOT of units facing asia that gives the most troops of anywhere else in the world. so when you do feel like you need to spread out you can take all of asia and then point to europe or america next since both places are also pretty ok with increasing your troops per turn
@@leoneyamada5408 even toonz messed up a ton with utilizing him troops and fortifying effectively
@@poiuyzq true but for the most part he was doing really well for himself. because whenever you get australia you pretty much instantly win no matter what happens. eventually you will always get enough troops to outnumber everyone else. because while everyone is fighting among themselves you are building an army to conquer the world
Squirrel is so lucky that Jihi didn’t notice that her territory in northern Asia connects to Alaska because if she did Squirrel would’ve been fucked.
Kinda sad how long it took him to realize he didn't really have control of Australia. It killed me every turn.
Blitz refers to the battle strategy mostly used in ww1 and ww2 called blitzkrieg
More please?
You want to keep all your soldiers together fortified behind 2 and 3 owned plots
That's like a lil brother to toonz.. he rages hard on him cuz he can take it mostly. Kyle may get sensative
Cartoons loses a single 1 country that he gets back the next turn so squirrel can reconnect his troops and goes mental.
Honestly, this game shows why RTS died out as a genre.
Battles can drag out and loop. The only winning play is to eliminate the opposition while they're still weak.
Fortunately, we have Toonz, Jihi, Squirrel, and Rocky making things fun.
This was the most passive game of risk ever conceived
one hour in and i cant stop yelling at the screen...
pull the 2 troops out of australia and pull the 9 troops out of siam you dont need them there... ffs...
Jihi: I WANT CHAOS!! ATTACK ME, DESTROY THE TRUCE THAT WE MADE SO TOONZ CAN KILL YOU ALL
Y'all are terrible at this game...loved ever minute of it
At 1:41:29 since Rocky had 3 on 1, he could have risked takin out yellow, collect her 3 cards, and hoped for 2 sets of troops to fortify
"I'll do it, I have big balls" - Jihi
BRO! I played this on Xbox 360 when I was a kid. It was one of those free Xbox games that you were able to play
Blitz doesn’t always win. There’s a win percentage for blitzing. Take my word for it. I have this game on my phone, and sometimes the low percentages like 20% win
Watched the entire thing without realizing the length. No regrets.
