Really enjoyed this! Just got my first Konro. So excited. Got to find a good source for Binchotan... found a guy on ebay but of course, there is always the "sketch risk". Thinking about a blowtorch for lighting... but those little table top thingies are pretty cute.
Thanks for watching! Try the blowtorch out, but i do think the portable stove will be a far more efficient use of your time. In fact, I have some charcoal lighting up on mine right now!
If Kishu Binchotan is too expensive or inaccessible, Ogatan which is compressed sawdust logs are a good alternative. They burn hot, but don't last as long as bincho, but they'll save you a bunch of $$.
I like your thoughts on the meaning of why we are here. Discovery and love are beautiful things. I also think about plastics. If it were not for humans, there would be no plastic. That has to mean something. Great video as always.
*wood clank echoes* Dave it's too good for youtube! You know you could get away with just filming your head with a webcam, but ya just had to go and make it beautiful. I learned a lot and it didn't even hurt. All the best -
while the charcoal itself is smokeless, the meat fats generate LOTS of smoke. you'll probably need a strong vent or fan to take care of it. I've never used mine indoors and I probably won't knowing how much smoke is generated. also, I have no authoritative knowledge about carbon monoxide emitted via this product so use proper caution!
the charcoal itself does not emit smoke. the smoke comes from the fat dropping onto the coals, so the smoke will vary depending on what you cook. a chicken breast might emit very little smoke, whereas a chicken thigh will emit a lot of smoke. I probably wouldn't use it indoors unless you have an industrial vent.
Yeah this is the 12" grill. I don't think the mesh is chrome plated. At least there's no mention of it on the Amazon listing: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073YDHB41/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The most dad thing ever. It’s like “I’m mad but I’m not allowed to be. Thanks kids. “

This was awesome! I gotta buy some to try next year in a regular grill, seems they'd work great!
I love the intermission for having a child in the middle of a charcoal video hahaha
This was a great video, thank you Dave for sharing your knowledge and wisdom.

I laughed more than i planned , good job!
I love this video because it's not in a controlled situation.

Id recommend getting a electric burner like they use for shisha coal that way your not adding chemicals to the coal from the butane cans
OMG, you like to google . Awesome video Dave. Cool shots.
Love the video very informative!
This is the best!
I 100% agree with you. Even with having a kid lol..

Thank you Dave, what's been your favorite thing that you can cook on your grill?

Can you use it indoors? Like say when it's too cold outdoors? I've heard it's smokeless? What about carbon monoxide?

How smoky does it get, can you use it indoors?

@@davebonawits Very helpful, thank you.
Is the metal mesh grate chrome plated ? I ask due to it being rather shiny. And I assume you have the 12 in long version?

But don’t wash the burned fats off down the drain. Your landlord won’t like it
