I am not a fan of any brand, but I love Toyota and Lexus products. I have owned both and currently drive the IS350. I was considering buying the UX 300h instead of the RAV 4 as I don't quite like the RAV 4 styling. Now, this CX-50 with the Mazda's gorgeous styling mated to the Toyota's latest hybrid system - my mind is already made up even before a test drive.
I have a deposit on the Rav4 XSE hybrid. Fully loaded it's $44,600 MSRP. I've been waiting 3 months and it still has not arrived. So this CX-50 hybrid has my attention. The premium trim has a MSRP of $39,885 and the car is on the dealer lot ready to buy right now. If I buy the CX-50 hybrid I give up the 360 degree pano camera, digital rear view mirror, and large digital gauge cluster included on the Rav4. These are features I'd like to have, but are not mandatory. On the plus side I'd save $4700 by buying the CX-50. One last thing, I like the body styling of the Mazda a little better than the Toyota. Much for me to think about.
how aren't the seats a negative? I was ready to pull the trigger until I sat in it. Some people can get use to it for sure, but I drive way too much for that stitching touching the middle.
i'm more bothered by the exterior plastic cladding which immediately makes it look cheap, and in the long-term when the sun's rays fade the plastic it'll look like hell. You'll be forced to use an exterior trim sealant on it every spring which is a pain.
I wish Mazda just made the Hybrid Premium Plus trim - the same as the Premium Plus on the Turbo. If I was going to build one - I would do the hybrid premium plus but add the parking sensors, heated steering wheel, opt-out on the sunroof (dont need it, dont care for it). I keep flip floping between a turbo premium plus or a hybrid premium plus - for the 40k+ - I rather have the features (especially the heated steering wheel, I live where it gets cold).
It's a shame Mazda doesn't have the financial clout to develop their own Hybrid. This thing really is a RAV4. Mazda's only contributions are the Mazda style interior and Mazda sheetmetal. Should be called a MAV4.
the only con i can think of is, it isn't as capable off road as its Turbo counterpart. (this is from seeing all the reviews of the Rav4 woodland , and CX50 Turbo )
The infotainment sucks for touch. You have to lean way forward to reach it. It’s not safe and should be abandoned or the screen should be moved about 6” closer to the driver.

Mazda tend to be pretty reliable as well, so it's good they hooked up with another reliable company like Toyota for their hybrid system.
@@Excalabur50 for sure! Solid partnership this drivetrain worked out really well in this CX-50 hope to see some discounts on these soon
Why doesn't Mazda offer the terracota interior color on the CX 50 hybrid models in the US? They are offered in Canada.
I am assuming that you will be releasing the full review soon. Looking forward to it!
@@notsodelusional absolutely my friend full review should be dropping sometime this week’

I still can't decide

Truth be told, the CX-5 seats are far more comfortable.

seat covers and foams exist if it bothers you that much.

i wish it could have been 2.5 turbo hybrid and make the chair more comfortable.
Waiting on the Cx5 Hybrid!!
Now you’re talkin’!
Cx-5 is made in Japan not the US like cx-50 and Toyota hybrid models. Unfortunately not going to happen anytime soon
I want Mazda to get the exact CX-50, and recreate it on the CX-70 platform (larger size).
The GT model comes with 360 camera and heads-up display.
@@dannyboy8850 this is not a Canadian vehicle this is a U.S. spec review
Don't like the wheel cladding, wish they would just go to one solid color
