    Very helpful... basically new to the world of power tools etc. your videos have been a big help... I’ve ordered bits already for the “house” drill at the job... but I just ordered The Dewalt dck2991t1 combo kit so I going to get a set of the impact bits as well. Again thanks for the info I will be watching.

      “New” as in the details regarding them. I had an general knowledge as far as what they are but I didn’t know the nuances for instance “hammer drills, brushless motors etc.” I didn’t know anything about that stuff. I recently got promoted at my day job that requires “handyman” work so I’m making myself more familiar with details about them.

    “I don’t have a whole lotta time today in this video” - then the first 10 minutes of the video can be summarized into one sentence: "dont buy bits kits without a clear window. You will never know contents of them by looking at them, and then you will waste your time by opening them one by one to check." Thanks very much VCG! That backs up your opening statement so well. ^o^

      I agree Leo - "...we're gonna make this one brief - 0:52", could have been summed up with one or two sentences... Even if you didn't want to sum it up like that; at 4:25, he already stated why he wouldn't buy these kit's. And that's the other thing - for the first min. and a half, based on the words he used and the way he presented this, it sounding like he, "was NEVER going to use these kit's EVER again!!" LOL Seriously? Almost 27 min... "for clear lids?" Yeah, no kidding their better, but that's 27 min's I'll never get back again! My impression is Vince likes to ham it up with a lot of fluff and pauses that seemed like he didn't know the end of a few of his thoughts. Good effort Vince, but try to take into consideration that other people's time is valuable to them.

      Love his reviews but he is very long winded and takes the short 27 minutes to say just buy the box in which you can see the bits. Personally I have the yellow box, but I know exactly what's in it without having to use a sharpie. I have the one for bits, and I have a red one for drill bits: color coded: KISS (keep it simple stupid) I've been told. I do have a clear one with all specialty bits including a larger sample of torx bits, including the safety ones. I mean just a T20 and T25 doesn't cut it. There are T10 head screws so now you're phucked without one. Just my 2 cents

    Yes, I’m one of those that mark the cases on a few sides for easy ID depending on how they are stored. Even on the red Milwaukee cases but I separate the drill and driver bits by type into personal kits of my choosing to ease the process as well. The boys do like the new clear cases also and they mix and match to their own preferences. Though I prefer the Milwaukee style of holding the bits the dewalts can be a bit of a pain. So I cut the top tabs off these so the bits can lay in easier. Hot glue small cheap bar magnets from hobby lobby onto the back side of holders and bits stay in place. As the bits are used up I pick up the particular size bits in their cluster packages as needed when refilling the cases. I’m not an expert but thought I’d share something that works well for me. Stay safe

I'm still newish to what people call pro level brands. But the price point and what came in it is what sold me. Yeah, there are a few odds and ends pieces I still need for what I do at work, like a right angle adapter, but it isn't used anywhere nearly as much as what's in the kit.

    The mag connection, can get tossed in as another bit in the box. Have "other bits" tossed in the yellow box already in my bags. Yes, solid coloured boxes - get written on and always have, just a fact of life. Someone looking for "the clean image" will find they spend time looking. Those who do not care about the outside and willing to write on them? Hit the main face with detail/notes and sides for when stored vertically. After all, if organized and restored after each project or shift in a project - can find in a moment. If always done and an emergency pops up? At 19:28 you experienced why I have always hated those tiny bits that go in the magnetic sleeve. Too often the bit stays on the screw. I would only use the 2" bits that lock into the driver. But the new Milwaukee tiny bits actually lock into the sleeve.

      I have the opposite problem, the holder requires a few whacks on something sturdy to release the bit. I keep the same bit in until it breaks or wears out, and just swap the holder out entirely with a 2" bit when changing to different screws, seems counter intuitive but it's faster than fighting with it.

    I have had several bit kits, screwdriver sets etc that did not nail the number 2 at all. My theory is that they were actually meant for something specific. Such as wood screws vs. drywall, something like that. But I have found discrepancies with tooth width, tooth taper, AND pitch... and they were most certainly #2. Number 1 or zero I never have trouble. 3s however, same issues albeit less often. I think it's a specific Phillips type, that some companies didn't know or didn't think to put on the label. I never seem to notice a difference... until I spin a couple. I actually keep some softer bits handy to sacrifice, just so i dont gotta deal with stripped heads in a mismatch.

    Ok, i get what your saying about the clear lid on the case, but those break much easier than the other ones. First time a saw gets set on it, board falls on it, or it gets carlessly thrown in back of truck, your done. Half of bits missing and a sharp edge on the case. I will stick with my old kit. It works and im happy with it.

    By Christmas you will be jonesing over the 64 bit box that has both sets in one box. Why doesn't Dewalt offer an empty 128 bit box so we can combine all the smaller sets into one box. If they haven't thought of that please pass it along to them.

    i have been out of construction for a couple of years. Started a remodel of my kitchen, so i went to HD to get a new screw driver sleave. I could not find one . Only these Max kit, no sleaved extension, I had to order it and it is still waiting now a month coming from California. some of the bits were a bit confusing. The little yellow thing is nice to know what it is, though it seems a pain getting the bit out. Also the bits do not seem to fit anything for quick change in the kit. Thanks for the information.

    I lay my bit boxes OPEN in the tool chess. No clear lid, no lid AT ALL. Clear lids are fragile and will break on a job site. Sharpie's better. So you lock 2 boxes together and can't see what in box number 2.

    I like the $10 solution for the kit. There’s too much filler in these kits that I wouldn’t use a ton to justify the higher prices. I’ll probably go the $10 kit and then replace the commonly used stuff (#2 and t-25) with the higher quality bits as they wear out.

  • @jasonwarner6323
    @jasonwarner6323 4 роки тому +1

    I Have commented on your videos before. I Build decks for a living. I will say if I was buying one of those two kits it would be the maxfit. I also agree dewalt makes the best fitting bits out of the ones I have used. I however do not buy kits. We go through t25 bits like crazy. I am talking 100+ per year. I buy the bulk bits. I also have used the extension like in the maxfit for years. How ever because of the way the bits fit in the deck screws I use. We were always having the bit pull out of the extension. Like you said time is money for small business owner. Dewalt now has an extension that locks the bits in. I have not had mine long enough to know how good they are. I do know I am not having to put my bit back in the extension all the time anymore though.

      The new dewalt 50x bits are actually really strong and last long, just like the new Milwaukee 50x bits. I have and use both. But I have tons of other kits also just because I need a large variety at all times. So I have like 35 driver bit sets made by every brand. Bosch are pretty good with a nice variety of lengths and sizes.
