@@fltfathinsince the noun "automata" is plural, you wouldn't say "an automata". You would either use a different specific noun or refer to the group as "the automata" (plural "the"). Words derived from ancient languages are often weird. In the case of automaton, it's a Greek word that went through latinization and ended up being used in English in its Latin/Greek hybrid form. As far as I know, there's no specific noun that refers to a group of automata. Fun fact: the Latins would say "turma (a group) [of] automatorum" because of the way they alter words based on their logical function. Anyway, I'm not an expert. I just studied Latin in high school and I don't know Greek
@@fltfathin for linguistic problems like this, substitute the word for one you're more familiar with. Ie. replace "automaton" and "automata" with "person" and "people" and you'll find an intuitive solution.
I thought to myself “argonaut is a cool name for a channel or stream, I wonder if anyone has it” and man was I pleasantly surprised to see an active channel actually using the name, and it’s code logic which I enjoy!
Amazing video, love this type of content. I'm curious on how could I create the stylized shader you showed ( or similar ), is there any resource you recommend or tip to convert the basic texture in to the stylized one?
he listed the conditions for a cell to become alive and stay alive, and then said that in ALL other cases (which includes your example) the cell dies or stays dead
Not trying to be pedantic, just so you know: automata is the plural of automaton, so you’d say “a cellular automaton”
You're absolutely correct. I somehow recorded the entire voiceover without realizing the mistake... and noticed it after uploading :/
But how do you call a group of automaton as a single entity? I think 'an automata' can be correct.
@@fltfathin I don’t have the background to know if that’s correct or not, but I’ve never seen “automata” used like that.

Watching that glider hit the ship had me so stressed

Thanks for creating the video and sharing your GPU code. This is beautiful to watch the patterns that arise.

Thank you! You can find the code for the shader on my Github:

Let me know if you have any questions!
Great video! subscribed
Thanks!
How are you making animations such as the one at 0:25 and the transitions between each of these animations? Is that some kind of a software?
I suppose it is a python library manim, check it out
Why not use booleans?
Edit: or atleast bytes if you wanted to just add the neighbors like that.
Link to code?
I think you forgot to refer tgat cells die with 4 or more neigbors

Try puting one cell in each pixel in the screen, in full screen mode 😏
Weird choice of foreground music + background narration
Music is too loud, you are overwhelmed by it.
Lol you mean it's overwhelming his voice.
