Thanks for asking..Here is my explanation, having a hole in the briquette or not is a personal choice but briquettes with a hole happen to produce more heat because the inside surface of the hollow briquette is also burning hence producing a more even burn. In order to make briquette with a hole you need to redesign the front part of auger, you'll have a small rod which makes the hole.
I think the hole increases surface area of the briquette and if the wall surface in the hole gets light too..we have more heat and more utilization of the briquette too..other people may have other explanations thou.

This machine in particular, I haven't seen physically but made my own research about it. For the over length I used 1.5m, height 1.4m and width 0.8m and again these dimensions I can vary in the software. Operating principle is basic there are many other things designers may add but I try to keep it easy to make without using complex machinery like CNC ,that aren't easily accessible.
