A man of his word. It may have taken him 70 years to find her, but I’m so glad he was able to honor his word and have this time with her again. I really hope this becomes a movie. ❤
"I wanted to tell her face to face"...God answered his prayers. At age 91 and on oxygen, I can only imagine how difficult it was for you to travel. What an amazing experience you and your son must have had together. Many lessons we can learn from watching your story. Thank you so much for sharing, from someone half-Japanese.
This made me cry a river of tears. If there was ever a movie inspired by this story, I would go watch it 100%! Such beautiful love that transcends time. Through ups and down, they never forgot each other. Their love for each other was so strong that Peggy named one of her son after Duane, and Duane never stopped pursuing her. This is just so, so, so wonderful, and my heart is full of love for the two❤
What an honorable man he is. You must’ve been very lucky to have him as your father. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your UA-cam. You’re talented man yourself.
what a sad sweet love story. Im sure she never blame him. His word of a man stay strong to find her and try to explain to Peggy that he didn't abandon her. That touches my heart. Your dad is a loving person and very thoughful. amazing story that everyone will remember. God bless him. He has such a supportive kids and family to help make his wish comes true :) what an amazing love true story!
Reminiscence isn't it, but I couldn't even imagine how many veterans or just ordinary people have failed to reunite with their first love till their last ends.😢 Kudos to their supportive sons to Peggy and Duane y'all have my huge RESPECT!
Family will do you more wrong than a complete stranger. Duane's done him wrong. I am sorry ge had to go through all of that ❤ Thank you for helping your father out!
Wow , what a weight to lift off your dad’s shoulder knowing that peggy knew he didn’t abandoned her. They both just knew that maybe it wasnt meant to be ❤
Mr. Duane, I’m so happy you and Peggy got closure. Your love, respect, and morality really show. In a world with so much adversity, it’s easy to be selfish or to ignore or to give up at the expense of others, but you stayed true to yourself. And “To be in love and really be in love.. is really an experience” - just like you said, it’s not about politics. It’s about love and being human. I am excited to read your memoirs and pray for your good health. Mr. Brian, thank you sharing this story with your talent. You understood your father’s story, his history, and his feelings as a person. Your family is amazing for being so supportive, and I wish you peace and happiness.
My 91-year old dad also wanted to find his old love ever since my mother passed away five years ago. Unfortunately, he had no information about her nor any evidence that she ever fell in love with him. They parted because of an arranged marriage he entered into with my mom back in 1954. Lately, he has been pestering me to take him back to Hong Kong so that he could look for her. I guess that’s his last wish because he said he was sure that she was still waiting for him. I posted on Facebook but have no luck at all. I’m at a loss as to what else I can do to help him reunite with his “girlfriend”.
Maybe reach out to a tv station or a publication in Hong Kong and write them a letter about your dad's story. I pray your dad last wish will be granted. ❤
Heard about this story around the time it was aired, but recently came across their story on ig again and had to search for any update. Thank you for documenting this beautiful story. I hope both families have nothing but respect for each other. I’m glad they both got closure, the chemistry and love just easily moves me to tears.❤ wishing them nothing but the best and for a healthy life. I hope they continue to stay in contact.
I'm so glad his heart can finally feel at rest now that he has said all he wanted to say to Peggy ❤ thank you social media for this wonderful story, many of us wouldn't have known about this otherwise ❤ bless you.

What a beautiful, bittersweet story. It got the tears flowing. I can't even imagine holding those feelings of guilt in his heart for decades. So happy for your father that he got to release all of that guilt and see her again! She clearly still thought of him, too, seeing how her son's middle name is Duane. It's nice to know that they still communicate with each other.
What a great story. Thank you for posting this and the other videos with Theresa Wong! It's been so interesting and touching to watch all of them. I wish your family and Ayako's family well. Sending much love from Indiana.
THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO! Your dad's legacy is a story worth immortalizing for future generations to witness. A lesson in love. Thank God they were able to reunite. I'm unbelievably happy for your father. God bless your family.
I wonder how his wife felt knowing there's a first love he can't forget and I wonder how Peggy's husband felt knowing she named their son's middle name after Mr. Duane.
Really amazed by the number of people who worked behind the scenes to make this happen. This reminds me of a quote from the book The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, “when you really want something, the whole universe conspires in helping you to achieve it”. Sending lots of love to your dad and Peggy! ❤
I Love this so much! It's a shame his mom burnt all her letters! I wonder if him or Peggy still have some of their letters? I'd love to see them♡ this is truly amazing and is a blessing his mind has closure ♡ ♡Much respect to Duane and Peggy♡
He must have felt terrible leaving a young pregnant girl in Korea. I can see why it haunted him. It’s wonderful that she had a good life too. So much could have gone wrong.
I am so glad, that in their age, they found closure. Both of them still having vivid memories at their age, is amazing. Mr. Mann, what an amazing human being you are and I am glad your reunion is everything you hoped it would be - minus the dancing. :) Cheers to you all.
I’m so glad that he found Peggy and peace! It made me happy cry. my friend who in the military is looking for his grandfather’s first love Japanese woman as well. My friend’s grand father was station in Japan around 1951. My friend’s family had no idea how to search Japanese woman with just her photo but Since I showed my friend your video, my friend decided to search her. Thank you for sharing your father’s story! God bless you.
She was not just a girlfriend nor any other women. Peggy was his first wife. Technically, they are considered married in Japan unless they filed a divorce there.
Thank you for sharing. More satisfying than in the news videos. Heartbreaking, but I think your Dad and Peggy were just were not meant for each other. May God bless your families.
I somehow came across the featured news story on UA-cam. Eventually led to here. I was very touched by this story. I'm going to look into the book your father recommended. Does she and your dad keep in touch or was this a one-time meet up?

It appears that Peggy wasn't loyal. She married less than three months after Dwayne returned to the U.S. I wonder if she aborted the baby so she can marry another man. That was very quick.
When he said “Peggy “ I lost it…
Yeah
Although they've been separated for 70 years their chemistry and love for 1 another is very youthful.
