How many eggs you did already know was even there? Not? Even more we missed: - GL music motif plays when Jessica enters the GL area of the museum (Bad Idea Boss) - The 3 flashes signaling time travel is also a “Back to the Future” reference (Nathan Skip)
6:43 Did anyone else pause here to read the script, only to find out that the "Mattie told me to do that prison joke here you go"-joke literally was written down there? I don't know if I am to be amused or to be shocked.
Gonna have to rewatch this a couple of times, just to make sure all this stays in my brain and that I’ll always come back to this info for important situations in my life.
Insanely detailed list as alwsys, guys. I gotta say, I was a little bummed that there weren't any of the JLU from Terry's time in the Legion Museum, given that it would too be the past in the 30th/31st century. I did love those music cues, though!
Having just watched this last night in a mini binge of your content, I do have another semi Easter egg for you: an obscure additional Star Trek original series reference. As soon as you mentioned the name of Star Boy's medication as Quadroclozapine, I realized it was a call back to The Trouble With Tribbles, In which the grain that the tribbles consume is called quadrotriticale, with triticale being a form of plain old wheat from the present. And in fact since I had paused the video on the close-up of the package of clozapine in order to brag to my husband about this realization, I finished it with saying "I guess in the future everything is just four times better"... which you subsequently said in the video as well. Anyway, super impressed with the sincere effort, excruciating detail & personal style you all put into these videos; amazing work!
#37 is actually somewhat plausible. Theoretically, there are frequencies that can only heard by particular people. Each person would have a different frequency that would be heard by only them.
Fun Fact: David McCallum (Illya Kuryakin in "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.") also voiced Professor Paradox in the original Ben 10 franchise, which also includes DCAU actors such as: Tara Strong, Cree Summer, Jennifer Hale, Kevin Michael Richardson, Kevin Conroy, Jeffrey Combs, George Newbern, Jeff Bennett, and Mark Hamill. 😎
Timm is usually pretty good with keeping story-threads making appearances in other episodes / movies of the dcau; so it's dissapointing that there was no mention or sight of Kara (Supergirl) when dealing with the future.
Excellent Easter eggs guys!I appreciate your hard work! Also even if isn't Fatal Five related, I love your Black Manta facts- it was a very cool and 'whoa' inspired!
Also #60 & 61 thanks again for giving Bruce Timm a shout out on voice acting . I remember we were the only ones who acknowledged him as Twoface. Never knew played another character too!
In addition to the flying cars reference being a nod to back to the future, there's also the sound made when time travel happens so the future people who knew Thomas can be at his funeral. Those three small "booms" is similar to the sound that can be heard when the delorean and the train time travel (or rather when they end up in the next timeline after they made the jump beforehand).
Starboy taking QuadroClozapine might also be a Star Trek TOS nod since in "The Trouble with Tribbles", they were protecting a grain called QuadroTriticale which I suppose could be 4 times better than triticale.
Superman stopping a building from falling, could be a reference to the fleischer superman cartoon specifically to the first cartoon that was released which was the mad scientist in the cartoon he stops a building from falling.
Regarding the "help me" moment, the forearm on the right of the screen looks like Atom Smasher's costume, while the wrestling trunks on the left side of the screen look a lot like Etrigan, but given the lack of either claws or cape, I'm going to guess that it's either Orion or the Starman from JLU.
I listened for the JLU GL motif but didn’t hear it, they definitely created a new Jessica Cruz one for this movie that’s used multiple times and I love it.
My head canon for this movie why Supergirl and Bouncing Boy are not in this movie is because they were off on another mission, because I noticed a lot of missing Legionaries as well. So that's what I think it is.
I'm pretty sure it has also crossed over with the main DCU, but I think he meant the animated movies. I mean if they can do an animated movie of Batman/Ninja Turtles, surely they can do an animated movie about the Masters of the Universe characters in the DCU. I would buy it.
Nah, I felt like there was something much like the ear-splitting frequency pain in the Donner movie, but I think I was just thinking of Superboy/Luthor in “Young Justice.”
I’m still waiting for Paul Dini and Bruce Timm To do a tiny Toons it adventures,Animaniacs, Freakazoid(Dexter Douglas),Pinky and the brain and Justice league Unlimited crossover set they were all created by those two creative juggernauts. It would be close to a Looney Tunes and justice league crossover.
So is there a reason why it skips over Jessica Cruz's origin at 1:29 - 1:30? I don't know if that's just on my end though. Also a thought regarding John and Shayera Hol being involved in the Ran-Thanagar War, maybe they're simply trying to act as peace keepers/messengers for either side along with trying to figure out what instigated the war?
Hey, so super late to this party, but with regards to the frequency so high only Superman can hear in Superman the Animated series, it wasn’t quite that but something similar. In the World’s Finest crossover, after Joker kidnaps Lois he video calls the Metropolis PD office and uses a screen brightness so piercing that only Superman can actually see it instead of just being blinded to show where Joker is hiding (obviously in an attempt to death trap him). Someone may have mentioned this already, but I figured I’d try. Just found your channel, love detailed work and analysis!
The He-Man reference is a little deeper, Bruce Timm worked on the original Filmation animated series, along with the art for several of the mini comics, others such as Paul Dini and a number of Bruce's other compadre's also worked on the Filmation series!
I know this is super late, but I don't see many comment mentioning this. In one of the Huntress episodes of JLU (after she's kicked out of the League), Huntress steals a watch from Jimmy Olsen that was given to him by Superman. She uses it to call Supes so they can go find Question. I think the watch worked on the same premise of "only Superman can hear this frequency." Could be remembering this wrong, but I thiiink that's how that went.
That watch definitely appears a few times in the DCAU. I was thinking more of a shrill, painful kind of scene, but I may have been thinking of Superboy and Lex Luthor in “Young Justice.”
I think the two JL member statues at 14:06 are Green Arrow and Martian Manhunter with the frame reversed/mirrored from the earlier shot. The one on the right has GA's bow hanging behind him (again reversed) and his gauntlet cutouts on his arm. It's definitely GA flipped, which, by that logic, MM is right next to him albeit missing his cape(production goof?). The frame is hanging just low enough that you can't see his X straps on his chest and the belt buckle but just high enough that you can't see the bottom of the boot cuffs/start of the boots. That would make it look like its different boots but in reality you just aren't seeing the bottom of the cuffs. Plus the hands and trunks are in the same mirrored positions. Unless that's not supposed to be GA. Maybe it's a grown up Speedy with at new costume? But if it's GA then that has to be Vixen or a cape less MM and it's definitely not Vixen. I could be wrong but I think it's either a production goofed MM without a cape or they intentionally flipped the frame and edited out the cape to make it look like there are more heroes than there are. Edit: The superimposed image at 14:09 could be a close up of Captain Atom's arm. He's the only one with glove lines/bands like that already seen in the video.
The trunks statue is Intrepid who is a spectre superhero active since 1937. Being undead he is active both in the justice leauge and legion of superheroes.
10:47 #52 Easter egg For me is also a reference to the Ju: crisis in two earths. I mean if you look closely is very similar to when wonder woman kicks owl man out of his plane and he does that thing with his cape. The scene looks very similar. Or maybe it is just me. Because you many other batman did same thing with his cape. Except battinson. My man prefer skydiving style.
I think the "frequency only you can hear" scene you're thinking of might be the Superboy one from Young Justice. Either that or we both have bad memory. Edit: Couldn't figure out who it was at 14:13. Tried to find an official written list of all the JLU members so I wouldn't have to go through your video and cross reference all of them (besides it would make sense to assume you probably already did that). The DCAU wiki is pretty good but it could be better (given how nerdy we can be).
Also when the Oa power battery is dead and Jessica Cruz wills its power back into her ring and goes all Super Saiyan the exact same thing happened in Green Lantern first flight.
@@dcauwatchtower here's an interesting one. In Crisis on Two Earths, Hal wills his ring back onto his finger without even saying the oath. What's up with that?

Almost all the ones here are just ones we collectively remembered. A couple we wound up finding on accident while confirming ones we knew. I’m sad to say we’ve watched these cartoons...a couple times.
8:00 I know the answer to that. It wasn’t in a Superman TAS episode, it was in Young Justice. Lex Luther uses a frequency that only *Superboy* can hear to communicate with him. It’s when he gives him the Shield patches that disables his human DNA in exchange for investigating the Cadmus lab for him.
Right, a few others have suggested that, I think I may have combined this in my mind with when Joker shows Superman a video so bright only he can see it, in “World’s Finest.” Which...is impossible to do with just a computer monitor...?
I like how Bruce Timm hinted that these movies like Batman and Harley Quinn and Justice League vs The Fatal Five is a continuation and the same continuity of his hit shows Batman: The Animated Series and Justice League/JL: Unlimited.... And actually there is a fourth person name Hynden Walch who also do Harley Quinn's voice as well!!!
