Pretty sure this is my favorite version of Raven. Little pieces of magic by everyone without anyone being overbearing. So smooth I played it several times to make sure I caught everything. The keys in the beginning give it such an old school bluesy groove
Raven is usually interpreted as a father-son conversation about not wasting your life. Others see it clearly as a criticism of our destruction of the planet. To me, the father and son are the same character, the older self is an inner wisdom telling the younger self not to be self-destructive and take care of his world and his life. The younger man just shrugs it off, as younger men do, and the older self watches helplessly until the younger man is able to integrate the wisdom into his life and he becomes whole.
My All Time DMB Song...Carter you're Lean & Mean - Keep It Up ! Peace and Blessings from The Millennium Broadway NYC 1996 MD Cover and DCI Thanks for the Tickets !
I noticed that too. It also seemed like Dave tried to speed it up at the beginning after Buddy’s little play there. So it might’ve even been slower lol
It absolutely fucking figures that they'd FINALLY play this song in Charlotte the one year I didn't go because I refused to participate in the proof of COVAIDS test/vax pass for entry bullshit. Thank God they ended up dropping the vax/test requirement rather quickly, because if they would've kept it in place I never would've been able to see them live again. I think this might be the clearest I've ever heard Dave sing the lyrics to Raven before 😂 PS: bring back dirty sock sniffer, we need the violin!!
Tim is really sitting back on this one. It’s always nice to hear Dave’s guitar…
Wish they’d turn him down by about 70% at all times
I m 63, I like his music
Agreed! Hope you’re doing good ❤

It's a hard call - I like that the album version has more a lot more horn section. But it's nice to have the keys and Dave's acoustic in this one!

Wow, didn't realize how similar Walk Around The Moon sounds to the live version of this song. Especially the intro.
Is this the slowest Raven ever? This is 62 bpm and its normally closer to 68-72.

I like it! Feels like a throwback to early 2000s DMB. If only they’d slow down DDTW and Grey Street too :)
I'm the second Like here! Spot on! Thanks for the music! Greetings from #RockShow on KIUU 91.1 FM in Torreón, México!
Everything we believe in - our preception - is what we make decisions on - our grounding. Which is changeable.

🇧🇷✌
Still prefer the 2000 versions, particularly 8/27/2000. Loved the improv lyrics.
Aren't all the lyrics to this song improv lyrics? 😂
Dave's voice sounds different.
Not the same without the Intro
Live my ass. This performance was over a year ago. Dave is dead people!
