Installing van security locks *includes genius ideas*

- Опубліковано 20 сер 2024
- I'm installing van security locks for our self converted Renault Master campervan. I'm installing a Master Lock (puck lock) onto the rear doors. For the side sliding door we're drilling some holes and giving some padlocks a new use, and for the front doors, well you'll just have to watch!
There's some pretty genius ideas in here that we've picked up from others during our time in the vanlife community. I hope they help you out if you're looking to get started with securing your van. Stay safe out there!
Thank you so much for watching, you're super appreciated ✨

Very smart! I'll be doing a few of those on my van Thankyou Since this one have you done anymore new security? 🌸
I'd pick them locks in literally 30 seconds
The van looks so gooood!!
Yesss 🔥🔥🔥
5:25 because the screw was sticking to the drill via magnetism, it gained a temporary magnetic charge. When it fell, that charge attracted the (also magnetic) iron particles mixed in with the rest of the dirt :)
Ah that's so cool!!!
You really should have purchased some safety goggles for such work
Great job! Very secure
Thanks Shirley!
Just go through the glass 😅
My god......where are you planning to park up????😂😂😂😂 When we bought our van we concluded that very little will stop a determined thief from getting into the van. We have an alarm, tracker, pedal lock and a hidden imobiliser switch so at least we know thw van will still be there.😊
😂 how do you get out?! Good job x
Put all the inside locks on, then jump out the back doors and put the outside ones on 😂😂😂
@@KirstCheen ace 🤣🤣 when you’re inside sleeping do you just use the normal door locks ?
@@toriwright2627 usually yea! Not too worried about getting broken into when we're in the van as the dogs are the best security you could want 😂
@@KirstCheen I’m not sure my dog will be very good security unless someone trips over her 🤣 still I don’t want to be to paranoid anyway!
The drill bit part of screw is worn out. Grab a new screw and it will go right in
Hi, when you attached the "d" plates to the side doors for the chain, what did you attach them with? Screws? Looks good.
I wished that I learned about your less expensive locking method before I spent over $500 on 5 Heo van door locks.
Oh no! Hopefully they'll be mega secure though! 😂
Just a light on to make people think your in it might work?
Yea that's a good, sneaky trick! 🔥
Try getting Viper alarm
We had an industrial webbing strap from door to door, While we slept at 0300 in the morning the assholes took out the front quarter light with a Stanley knife and cut through the webbing as if it was butter (the cut was so clean) they took all we had from the front of the van.... Please upgrade from webbing straps, Chains need to be at the bottom of the door on serious hooks so they can be removed in emergencies... need hidden ignition switch so it can't be started....not to many locks = to many keys.... we are the securest campers ever
I'm so sorry to hear that happened to you, hope you're ok :( thank you for the tips, they will be helpful for others to hear too ❤
Good lucked, just coming from front door or back gate, keeping inside cleanning
Something I've just thought about and I wonder if it's possible. I want to install the "chain between the front doors" thing however, thieves like to smash the small front door windows to open them, can't they just take off the chain with the hook that hooks it onto the door or is it too tight to do so ?
Thanks and nice travels
Great thought, we were worried about that too! In practise when the padlock is on tightly there's no slack in the chain so there's no way you could unhook the hooks :) hope this helps and good luck with your install!
@@KirstCheen thank you so much :)
I guess the van glasses are smashed proof.
Padlocks are so easy to open. And what about just breaking the glass?
I'm frustrated that there seems nothing is fool proof. I keep searching for a way to electrify the outside and underside of my van. Catyletic converter thefts that less than 3 minutes. Ugh.
Yea I hear you! We have alarms on our windows that react to vibrations 🔥 but nothing is guaranteed, if someone really wants to break in they'll always manage, for us it's just about giving them every deterrent possible!
9:00 I love the axe BUT: having an axe on hand in the cab puts you at risk of a hefty ticket or worse..
Best to keep the steering wheel lock on hand for that. Most police people can not mind a steering wheel lock being next to your seat whereas an axe is wayyyyy out of place.
Let me tell you (and ask me how I know) that most people who feel they want to step out of their cars and have a little "chat" with you, tend to change their minds in about 1.5 seconds and head back to their silly lives in possibly a more silly vehicle once you show them your new toy the steering wheel lock, especially if you either lard the display of said steering wheel lock with a omnious smirk or an inviting look on your face...
After all the videos made by the likes of LockPickingLawyer and Bosnian Bill I wouldn't use anything made by Master Lock for even the least secure applications, let alone securing any kind of van.
Then again, not everyone can afford a $80 Paclock hasp and puck set... (and even those Master locks are probably enough to make most thieves decide to target the next vehicle along that doesn't have any extra locks at all)
Yea our ideas were all super bugdet and more to lengthen the amount of time it would take someone to break in (therefore hightening the likelihood they would be caught) and persuade them to move on to a different vehicle 😂
another class video and it has given me ideas to make Betty more secure - she is a 20yr old Transit, bless her! @bettyourcampervan
Haha yea definitely get her secured up! We feel so much better now our baby is super safe 💓
what if they come through the windows?
window alarms! 😀
Why do you need put locks inside? All you need is bolt latches, no key needed.
Strooth ..😂🤣😂fort kin knox
I feel that people who use the F word publicly have no consideration for anyone. What a tragedy that adults no longer care about the dignity of children, the elderly and people with strong moral values. It's become an insensitive, self focused world.
Fuck
Your judgement on someone’s personal channel and their personal choices is by far much worse than her dropping the occasional f-bomb. You commenting about it is equally ridiculous
Tell me you’re a homeschool & self righteous without telling me you’re a homeschooler and self righteous
I'm a 74 yr old who is amazed at the level of disrespect for others in society, along with commenters here. Such blatant disregard for others. It shouldn't matter that it's her channel. People who have a platform to speak publicly should seek to be a positive influence and care about every person who has taken the time to view their content. It speaks for itself.
