I couldn't agree more with them being OUR Band. I saw them twice in Halifax, N.S. They'll get their earned spot in the R&R Hall of Fame. The reason they take so long to appoint Artist's and Band's is because it's run by a bunch of POT-HEADS.
Wow, brings back so many memories of rockin' with these guys! Their live shows were always so powerful, whether they played in some local bar or a jammed packed arena. I always wondered why Rik turned down Tom Scholz's offer to replace Brad Delp after he passed? Everyone know that Brad is irreplaceable, PERIOD! Now with that said, who else thinks Rik would have been an great fit with Boston? Personally, I truly believe that Tom & Rik would have made some incredible music!
The local radio station used to always play Blinding lightshow very late at night. I have fond memories of laying awake as a young teen, listening to that song during the wee hours of my summer holidays
And how bout that light show and staging! Triumph didn't fuck around! They knew all the angles of putting on a mega spectacle of a rock show. Fucking killer upload! Thank you!
saw this at the Ontario Place Forum. So lucky to have seen Triumph and max Webster on a regular basis on the HIGHSCHOOL circuit in Scarborough. They were so far ahead of everyone else at this time.
First I saw them in a high school auditorium at Porter Collegiate in Scarborough, then at the Black Hawk Motor Inn in Richmond Hill, then this show at Ontario Place Forum (outdoors), then at Maple Leaf Gardens when they hit tbe big time! It all happened very fast...
dang!!!..I had it good growing up in Toronto as a learning guitarist in the 70's . Listening and watching in concert bands like Triumph, Rush.April Wine, Saga , Max Webster ,Coney Hatch, Rick Santers Band, Goddo.....etc etc......most of them I seen in local bars ....
My first concert in 83 (obviously!) completely underrated band. How many bands can boast 2 fantastic lead singers each with their own strength that compliment each other as well. Rik's immense skills also underrated. Love you too Mike! Personally I believe it's because they are Canadian, it is extremely difficult to succeed here unfortunately. Always and forever my favourite!! Love these guys!
Triumph was my first concert, too. They came to Norman, Oklahoma, in 1983 and it was what I wanted for my birthday present. I still remember how great their sound was, and the light show was really something else. Foghat wasn't a shabby opening act, either.
Toronto is my home for concert venues but I have always loved seeing shows in Montreal. The Francais crowds love their rock and metal still to this day. Go Leafs Go
This is the Ontario Place Forum in Toronto ... At 1:38 min Gil says "how's it going Toronto !" Plus the opening intro to the TV show clearly shows people at the outdoor venue ...
WOW!!!! 1978??!! Hell yeah!!!! This is even before their breakthrough album “Just a Game”!! I’ve never seen this.....they were all just in their 20s I think....😳😳😳 Rik Emmett made this band what they are. There was a good reason behind his nickname in high school....”Rocket Rik” 👍🏻
I was at this show... Moxy opened up with an awesome set and Triumph just blew everyone one away... saw many shows the Forum and this double bill was one of the greatest Canadian rock shows ever.
For anyone who is wondering, the bit that Rik plays at 26:30 is the classical music "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies", Peer Gynt. He used to do it all the time,...... brilliant.
I hope you won't mind if I correct you, @Matt McCormick. That melody is "The Hall of the Mountain King" from the Peer Gynt Suite, composed by Edvard Grieg. ("Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies is part of the Nutcracker Suite, composed by Peter Tchaikovsky.) The late great Canadian jazz flutist, Moe Koffman, did an amazing version of it on his album Master Session, which he titled "Cavern of the Mountain Trolls". You can hear it here: ua-cam.com/video/2bohy8TjPl4/v-deo.html
Absolutely yes! Gil Moore is a fantastic rock singer and his style and sound compliments Rik's! They sound phenomenal singing vocal harmonies. And like the other 2 guys Gil is a great multitasker and entertainer
Me too! I even called their management team, Dixon/Propas, to find out where they were playing next. I knew I had to act fast and get as many local shows as possible, because I could tell they were heading straight for arenas and stadiums any day....
Ha! I was there.. I took the street car to see my first full Rock show . Triumph! at the ripe old age of 13 ..I still remember. Which is now the Molson amphitheater.
I will never forget this concert, it was the first heavy rock show that I'd ever been to. Triumph were incredible that night. Smoke bombs , flash pots, strobe lights, just mesmerizing. Moxy opened for Triumph, they were also very good.
Great Upload. I remember seeing Triumph at the old Municipal Auditorium with Joe Anthony introducing the band. Brings back so many good memories in San Antonio, TX during the seventies.
This is the triumph I remember .. I had a tape (rock and roll machine?) that had "bliinding light show" on it - it was awesome! it also had rocky mountian way
1978, these guys were that SCARY GOOD back then (ahead of their time), was listening to this back then when I was in the 9th grade.....Kiss who? Paul Stanley/Gene Simmons, watch and learn how to play a f'ing instrument dooshbags......uhhhh, I believe Rik taught EVH a thing or two. Rik.E is VERY Underrated and belongs up there with Randy R.
Triumph absolutely smoked VH off the stage at the US Festival metal day - of course part of that was EVH being tanked before VH took the stage....happens when you have all day to "warm up"
Favorite band. Saw them so many times (saw Rik Emmett twice just this year). After all that I never got to see 24 live (one of my favorites) not even on video so this was very cool to see. Thanks for posting.
At least when Rik does a guitar solo showcase spotlight in the song "Rock N Roll Machine" its entertaining!!!! The same goes when Eddie Van Halen did his solo spotlight showcase "Eruption, Cathedral, Meanstreets, Spanish Fly, 316 medley" it was entertaining and spectacular!!!!🙂😊☺😊🙂 I have seen a lot of so called guitar shredders shredders in concert and I would get bored to death!!! Usually my que to go to the restroom, buy a beer, or buy a concert t-shirt or other concert merchandise!!!! L.O.L.!!!! Ha ha ha ha🙂☺😊😀😃🤓😀😃🙂
Uma das bandas mais legais que já ouvi, rock sem frescura, pena que não tiveram o devido reconhecimento, when the lights go down é um arrasa quarteirão digno das melhores bandas de rock de todos os tempos.
Where did you live? You may want to google tour history... unless you where to young :) Triumph did major US Tours for 10 years Madison Square Garden LA Forum ect...
Steven Keane Triumph never played the Garden unfortunately. The closest they came was the Nassau Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale Long Island. Saw them there on the Never Surrender tour.
Wow I'm so glad you posted this show .I saw Triumph a couple times just a few years after this .once after the the live version of Lay it on the line came out and another on the Allied Force's tour .wat I remember most besides the awesome music was wat a unbelievable light show and pyrotechnics elements of their live show .totally amazing show
One of the best power trio s to come from Canada!!!! Rush is the other power trio that played awesome music!!!! Rik was a cool bad ass shredder on lead guitar!!!! (He still is a phenomenal guitar player). I am commenting on Rik's youthful stage presence !!!! He had a lot charisma along with his awesome lead guitar chops!!!! And Rik can sing also!!!! I wish I could have seen Triumph during their 70s and early 80s heyday!!!! I was too young!!!! To go to concerts then!!!! I love the song "Blinding Light Show"!!!!🙂😊☺😊🙂😍😋😀😋
Let this be a universal lesson to all soundmen: If you want a live trio to sound full (especially during guitar solos) turn up the bass on par with the guitar and drums (Rush being another great example). Triumph live (as a trio) never sounded as full and robust as they do here. One exception: What happened to the bass on Blinding Light Show?? Oh well. Still a great performance. Amazing. Stellar singing, musianship, songwriting. I have been a big fan, since the 70's. Never saw them live, wish I had. Fucking Amazing......

Easily one of my favorite bands. Rock n Roll Hall of Fame will never give them a look, but who the hell cares? They are OUR band!
Peter Kier the "Rock & Roll" Hall of Fame is a joke Iron Maiden isn't in either

RRHOF has always been the RRHOF SHAME since the 90's with all the bullshit inductees....it was to represent the best and only the best.........
I like Triumph but they weren’t on the A list of rock bands. It’s ok not every band belongs in the hall of fame
@@alvogeljr if crap bon jovi is in hall bands like triumph deserve to be in. along with bad company foreigner boston and billy squier
👍🏻😎 It doesn't get much better than a Triumph concert.

Effectivement tu as eu beaucoup de chance. Je t'envie. Jamais vu Triumph 🎸 la France ne devait pas les interressé 😭. Je les aimes quand même 🎸🇨🇦🥰
Saw Max At High School! BUT Not TRIUMPH 😢😢😢

Don’t forget Moxy!
And Anvil!
I saw them 4 times in Michigan. But to see them in a bar would be really amazing
Me too, I loved the Toronto music scene of the late 70's/early 80's, tons of talent!
To any aspiring rock musicians, I recommend reading Mike Levines book... MUST READ
Triumph Thunder ⚡ at its best. A very underrated rock band. Got all or most of their music on CD or DVD

Two great singers...can't go wrong!
Wow! This is like finding a diamond in the dirt. I’m glad I searched for this.
They were so tight. Saw them in 1982. The best laser/light show and overall rockin show.
thanks for posting this ancient gem. I dig their early stuff, raw and powerful.
One of the fatest guitar sounds ever during live performance I've ever heard ! Rik Emmett is a Monster !!! Triumph rocked big time ! ...
was this concert before van halen 1 came out. if it was eddie took eruption from rics solo

Hall of The Mountain King from Rik’s solo at 26:35 was a memorable moment for me in 1979 at the Lethbridge Sportsplex. Front row. Face melted! 😝
Thanks this is AWESOME - my first rock show was Triumph at the San Jose Civic in 1977! Got "on the bus" that night!!!
Another great 3 piece band from Canada
Seen this same show in San Antonio they kicked ass it was so loud my ears were ringing for a week.
