You are so fortunate to have Hurricane Hobbies! Most have gone the way of the dinosaurs and I miss them. When I come across one in my travels, I stop and buy a model. Not only to reminisce but more importantly to support that store. Great video, thank you.

I live in SoCal and we have a few Hobby Shops left. One of the better ones that has been around for 30+ years is Brookhurst Hobbies and I swear I can go in there and it’s just like a black hole time warp! I can think I’ve been in there for 20minutes and in reality it’s 2 hours!!! Amazing!

Having managed a Hobby Wholesale Distribution Company many years back, I remember working with Ron when he was just starting out. Ron is a very savvy buyer and knew his customers needs and the importance of a well stocked store. Glad to see he’s doing well, but not surprised.

Great Shop! Nice selection, wish they were close to me. I didnt even know Estes still made rockets. I loved estes rockets, I made like 30 or 40 of them. My local shop has ZERO tamiya rc car kits, but about 300 RTR chinese trucks and cars, and 500 RTF drones, 100 RTF planes. They have 1 15ft shelf of plastic tanks, mostly trumpeter 1/35, 1 shelf of cars, 1 shelf of planes, and a few ships. They DO have a $5000 5cylinder radial engine for your rc plane.

The tour and interview made me cry. The song, dang, the song made me laugh and cry.
We had one customer who would often forget glue, thinner, blades, putty, et cetera. On many occasions I dropped the items off on my way home after I closed the store. He was a great customer, always paid his tab, and he was so patient with our young customers.
I miss that job, I miss being able to build. Your channel brings me so much joy!

Wow . That’s a well stocked hobby shop . Sadly we don’t really have any “Mall” type shops like that . What hobby shops there are tend to be smaller and just off city centre . There aren’t really any close to me in Glasgow , the nearest big one is Wonderland models in Edinburgh which is well stocked but I think still nothing the size of this . But it’s still a delight to go in and browse and come out with a new kit or train, usually not what you went in for! Ahh Convoy! 10-4 Max

@@kennethkwilinski4899 my local shop that I frequented closed last December which prompted mine to open, the next nearest one is a Hobby Lobby and a RC shop. Which doesnt carry nitro fuel. My hometown store in Pensacola closed up permanently after 60+ years recently. There is nothing there that fills the gap. I lived in Gainesville and Orlando and they have nothing like it either. I am outside Atlanta now and the best thing I have going is a HobbyTown USA that has a slowly dwindling kit section. Your LHS can pick them all up and smash them over its knee. I would kill to have something like that in NW Georgia.

There was also a smaller shop in my town but they didn't have the best selection. I usually just bought paints and supplies. Sadly, that place closed down earlier last year because of rent. Now it's either Michaels or Ebay for model kits and paints. I love your video btw.

Now THAT is a hobby shop, you lucky son of a gun. Our one and only hobby shop here in Brooksville, Florida closed way back in the 80's. It was a big ole place with one half of a double storefront being occupied by a slot car track and the other models and modelling supplies. It was always packed. The excuse the owner gave me was that he was tired of people.Having done my time in retail before going into construction I could see his point. I just don't understand why he just didn't sell it. It was popular. Now we have to travel 30 plus miles to the nearest hobby shop. We have a Hobby Lobby but among other reasons, they have a very limited kit selection. We won't get into the other reasons why I avoid them if I can. Besides, I love "Mom & Pop" operations. I'd rather support them. Thank you for sharing and God Bless from, well, Florida.

I dream of having a Hobby Shop like that in my area. All I have is Hobby Lobby. The selection is limited and the prices are a bit high. I finished my Stuka Dive Bomber last week and a Corsair the week before. I broke the seal on an Easy Eight Sherman last night. My painting is getting much better. I've learned so much in the last year by watching all the pros. After this tank build I will go back to a car kit to change it up. I found 11 car kits that I had put away from 1984 to 1990 and they are all still sealed! I had forgotten about them. I remember buying most of them and never got around to building them. They include Dick Tracy's car from the movie. The Miami Vice car, and many others that I forgot I had. Well, I can finally get around to building them. Thanks for your inspiration! Model on!

They have a display case for people to show their finished models in , working on one to put in it , a HELLER 1/72 Hawker Tempest V-1 killer. You know I didn’t see any MAXMODELS T-shirts available there. I think maybe for 19.95$ I would buy one 🤓. LOVE THIS SITE

What a fantastic store. It's so well stocked and organized. My local hobby shop has been around since the early 90s (or even late 80s) and I honestly don't know how they stay in business. The store is dimly lit, dusty and old. The models are slightly arranged into categories, (AFV, ship, air) but other than that, it's a mishmash of brands, eras, scales, etc. Also the boxes are stacked horizontally which results in predictable bathtub lids. The last time I was there I almost got a migraine due to the overwhelming confusion caused by looking for a specific type of kit within the store's disorganized selection of kits.

My local hobby shop as a kid, Hanson Hobby in MA just closed a few months ago after over 40 years in business. It was a father & son operation that the son kept going for as long as he could after his dad died. I went there as a kid and was still going there decades later, even after moving an hour away. Hobby shops are few and far between these days and while Hanson Hobby was small, it was the only game in town and it had most of what I needed (I build wooden sailing ship models these day as opposed to airplane models with I was a kid) and I tried to support them whenever I could. Really miss just going in and perusing the stock to see what was new.....

That's a different version of that song. Where did you get that from?😂😂😂👍👍👍 There was a time that I resembled that remark - before I met my wife and we started a family. LOL
When I was single, I used to be the one in our club that would go out and get the donations for model contests. So I had made it my point to visit each of the stores every third or less weekend and buy something. Needless to say, that was one way to amass a large collection.
Currently in the GTA, we've got two stores (maybe three) that are as stocked for RC kits like what that store has. The stores that I know are stocked like yours are Hobby Hobby in Mississauga and SkyCraft Hobbies here in the city I live in, Burlington. Like I mentioned before, my city actually has a dedicated airfield park for RC aircraft and a city pond for RC ships. Now there may be ones in other cities but I've lived in many parts of the GTA and Burlington is the only one that has publicized having these facilities.
Anyways, again, well done. Take care and keep well.

I really enjoyed the interview. Your volume was a bit too low. Thanks for the great content.

I'd love a large scale Boulton Paul Defiant .. or Hampden.

Large Scale? There's 1/48th for the Defiant but nothing for a Hampden. There is the Airfix 1/48th Blenheim if you're looking for something in the same era.

Thats a tiny shop- you have to get over to Palm Harbor, FL - check out the "House of Hobbies" it's been around since the mid 60's and about 10 or 15x larger than that place - with a lot more inventory (more than actually fits in the building, it's crazy)

remember when all towns had a model shop back in the 1960s, Woolworths stocked them as well, AIRFIX kits being a weekend pocket money hobby for most kids, spitfires, thunderbolts, etc, paints brushes and thinners all in pocket money range, Christmas you might get a Lancaster bomber or liberator, perhaps the Bismarck or HMS hood, do kids still make models, with computer console games taking up so much time, model shops are becoming rare but the ones that are open seem to have massive selections compared to yesteryear, great time to be a modeller if you have the cash !

There was a chain in New England called Hobby Town that was great, there was one in the mall near me and as a kid I loved going in to check out the new stuff. The last one closed in the 90's I think...we had a small local store until three months ago, now nothing.
