Hi Karen. I have probably done every craft out there at some point. LOL I'm going through my basement now and am shocked by how much stuff I have for so many different mediums. This was a fun one to do. Thanks for watching.
@@SweetWillowDsgn Me too...and yes when I look around it seem crazy that I have gone down so many paths, but I still visit the supplies that I have applying it to all sorts of things...thanks
Thank you for sharing this idea! It was just what I needed. My husbands father passed away, and I have a belt of his dad's that I've been saving to do a project with. I'm going to add some light staining to clean it up a bit, but not too much to where I loose some of the wear. I will need to do some touch up stitching, and I'm thinking of adding a couple of small personal effects. The belt is the perfect size to do 3 bracelets, so I'm doing one for my husband, his brother, and his nephew. They all have birthdays coming up soon. They are going to love the bracelets! Thx again.
+Susie LaLonde Hey Susie, glad you liked this project. When looking for a belt make sure its genuine leather. I got one that had some kind of paper backing and it was ok but not ideal. Happy thrifting!
+Ina Solsbery Thanks Ina. I just subscribed to you and watched a couple of your videos. Love them. Very creative. Great to meet you and looking forward to the 13th and continued Denver Creative Arts Collaboration meetings.
I have 5 bags of leather I just went through. hoping to get started making some bracelets. In the video, are those alcohol inks you used along with the paints? :)
Nicely done. But to give a professional look I would suggest using fine sand paper on cut ends, coloring with a matching marker and then lightly waxing or use color matching shoe polish and polishing well to prevent any color coming off on the wearer. All in all well done. The sky’s the limit as far as embellishment. I’ve been using belts myself from thrift shops and it is a lot cheaper than buying leather blanks or buying a skin. You can get more than one bracelet out of it, too.
Gale, thanks for the tips. I have some more belts to work on. I like the designs on the belts I've found. I'll definitely try out your suggestions. Thanks for watching!
I see your point. I got the belt at the thrift store so maybe not technically recycled, maybe repurposed would be a better characterization. However, you can use any type of leather belt you wish. Have fun!
How is it not recycling? Shes using something that was already worn by I'm sure many many people, especially if it was brought at a thrift store. She reused it! Is that not a form of recycling?
@@lovelyrich54 an example diy recycling with ice cream stick, it’s not recycling .... but don’t matter it’s just what I think . And the bracelet made here it’s lovely
So pretty, thank you for the share

No, I used the leather paint which I got at the craft store and Lumiere paint in this project.
Okay, Thank you :)

Just getting started doing this and I’m finding that my L24 snaps are not big enough. What is the best size snap to use for thicker leather belts?
Hi. I’m not sure of the size. I did use leather snaps.
Was looking better to me before you apply the paint.
But still beautiful
That's the beauty of creating, we can each do our own thing.
What type of paint is it? and you dont need to seal it?
Angie, I used Lumiere paints and did not seal it. Thanks for watching.
I just measure mine to a cuff bracelet I already have. It's easier that way.
Thé idea is good... but I am a bit upset ...when I read recycling... and it’s new stuff ... you are not the only one doing that...

@@lovelyrich54 I don’t speak about this video but a lot of video I’m sure some people that looked this video when to buy a belt.
