Making a Fancy Leather Cuff
Leather bracelets are a great small project to make for a gift this time of year (stocking stuffers, etc!). They're also a great use of small and scrap pieces of leather :)
This leather cuff is a beautifully simple looking bracelet with a high quality solid brass buckle. You can make it in many different widths, you can make it using multiple layers with a saddle stitch or a simple non-stitched design with some brass rivets. You can also make it with or without a keeper depending on your buckle choice. In this project we'll show you how to use some more advanced leather crafting skills to make a seeming simple bracelet design a bit more fancy where it counts - in the construction and function of the piece. Enjoy!
The more you talk, the more I enjoy your videos, it let us know exactly what you are doing. Thank you for over explaining things.
Simply beautiful and well thought out.
Simple, classy but rockin' and awesome style! Love how beautiful the leather is. Great creation as always... ❤❤❤
Nice bracelet!!!! And it is all in the engineering details - the skiving of the leather the keeper placement and sticking. Excellent!!!
Awesome bracelet, awesome instructions, awesome video from an awesome maker/artist!
So simplistic yet beautiful. Your skills are amazing in “Leathering”
That was really easy to follow, thanks for sharing this info ❤ it’s very helpful. It looks great too!
THANK YOU! I have been waiting to make this style for a long time.
Indeed ❤
Very neat indeed Corter. Very nice 😊
Beautiful work! A nice Good morning surprise.
Lovely clean work!
This guy has helped me so much.
Such a terrific video! Thanks
Thanks, great tip on how you stitched the buckle.
Excellent love it...❤️❤️❤️
The first sighting of the brass xacto - I am documenting this moment in history.
Muy bueno , genial y bonito
Super projekt.
Yes, Corter 😊
I would like to learn this skill since I am obsessed with quality designer handbags such as LV, Hermes and YSL many more. Thank you for sharing your talents and ideas to us. I love your work.
Fun fact, Hermes started out as a saddle maker in france. One of the best in france.
That is a really cool design
So sweet so beautiful so lovely leather making cuff video like like it
I like it 💖
Qustion here u could maybe use the same techniques for a cat collar. right?
@Verity Dixon not for sure but i think it could be done
You would need to add and elastic bit that would break if it gets hooked on something
Thank you. I really like how this came out. I see lots of possibilities 😌 👌
Its like a wrist belt
Very nice.👊🏻
Very nice
Bravo 🤗🤗🤗
КЛАССНЫЙ БРАСЛЕТИК ПОЛУЧИЛСЯ!!!!/🤩👍
You are quite a craftsman, it's amazing to watch you work. Thank you for your videos. May I ask this question, why do some belt makers sow along the top and bottom of a belt when it's full grain leather?
I'm guessing it's purely aesthetic, but would be interested to know if not.
Thanks! If it's a single layer belt it's either done for aesthetics or to keep the belt's shape/size over time - unstitched, single layer belts will stretch no matter how thick the leather is if you wear them for years. Once you get in the 10-12oz category you're only talking an inch or two over a decade, but if you stitch the belt that thread will not stretch and the belt will stay exactly the same size (for the most part) for years . It's just extremely time consuming if you're sewing by hand.

Nice tutorial, thank you. Quick question, do you have anymore information on the keeper press.
I loved the making of this.
But my favorite part of the video was simply when you stopped talking and said you needed to focus. That small, nonchalant detail reminds people the care and detail that truly goes into the craftsmanship.
Sometimes you simply cannot talk through it.
Wow
when youre designing templates, how do you account for your stitchline? Is it as simple as adding a few mm to what the project would actually take, or is there like a generally accepted allowance?
Thanks! Great video! What kind of glue do you use?)
Nice!!! Would you mind sharing what size is the oblong punch?
Прикольно !
can you make the lv president briefcase? or any other attache hard case?
Привет! Классный канал, отличная операторская работа, смотрел с удовольствием, однозначно подписка! Привет из Украины)
Can you tell me where to find the staple setter set or machine? I can’t seem to find it! Thanks
curious why you didn't glue the area with the buckle or the keeper to the strap?
I am so ready to make one of these! Can you share what thread you are using? Available at Weaver? Big props from a fellow New Englander :)
I'm wondering where I could pick up a Corter Pounder like you have?
What type of leather do you use to make your wallets ?
Great video! Is there a reason you opt to use the 5mm diamond stitching chisels over the 4mm? Function, aesthetics? Perhaps you might consider a video on the various chisels and SPI selection? Keep up the great work!
I just like to use that spacing with the ritza tiger thread as it's a flat thread, and I think it looks most proportional at 5mm. When I use round, thinner threads i'll use a 4mm or even a 3mm at times :)
@@Corter what size Tiger thread do you prefer? I’ve been using 0.8mm but are thinking of going down to 0.6mm
What adhesive do you use?
Please put the Arabic translation. I am a good follower of you and benefited from you very much ... Thank you, always with success and success.
i cut out my bracelet (needs to reduce from 1 inch to 1/2 inch buckle) and im like hmmm... what now... LOL corter leather is "now"... tyfs
what leather weight are you using?
Hi what is the name of the glue your using please.
I have some 2-3oz coming from Weaver (BFCM sale) and I think I know one of the projects it's going to go into. Would you think some tooling would work on that project? I'm thinking a very simple floral pattern.
I think that'd look phenomenal!
How thick is the leather?
What can I do to reduce the inside wrinkles? Ripples, I seen yours had them too.
You would have to glue it up "in a curve". The inside would have to be shorter than the outside piece and you would have to glue it together while curving the pieces. It's tricky but it can be done. The inside of the curve is actually shorter than the outside of the curve, when they're both the same length you'll get the "bunching up" or wrinkling on the inside. Hope this makes some sense and helps.
