First visited FR in 1961, countless visits until 2019 hope we can go again in 2022. Absolutely wonderful railway, always something ew to see. First took my wife in 1969, fortunately she also fell in love with it. We have so many memories of happy days there and met some grand people. One particular memory for me is a double Fairlie footplate trip with Evan Davies at the regulator!
@@preservedrailway no, the double fairlie was his invention however the single fairlie came from Ireland however I am struggling to find what class they were. The GSR E3 0-4-4Ts of the early 1880s were single fairlies as far as I know however I'm not sure if they were the original engines in question as there is little online information about Irish steam but the E3s were definatley singke fairlies. I was able to find one image of one (no. 47) of 1883 but not much else.

Some absolutely wonderful camera work there. 5*. Thanks for posting and best wishes from chilly Slovenia.
Great done :)
Bit of a shame that none of the Irish single fairlies were preserved since the Irish invented the single fairlie. :(
? Robert Fairlie was Scottish or at least Glasgow born, I know he worked in Ireland though...
